the amount of dudes walking around trying to look tough that just look goofy af is my favorite part of metal shows. They walk around like “oh yeah who wants some of this?” And then they just sort of flail around and slap each other
Especially that one that comes walking up on the left with the hoodie, vest and skinny jeans. Like that twig's 90 lbs soaking wet, who does he think he's fooling? 😂😂
The "violence" is purposefully performative - understood by all as a way as a cathartic bonding exercise. Think of guys screaming in each others faces while power lifiting - outwardly aggressive but understood to not actually meant to intimidate or hurt. Or think of a hip hop dance battle where the competitors "insult" each other, or a comedy roast. It a fun activity where you safely mimick a bad/dangerous situation for everyone to have fun and release some steam. It's looked down upon to actually swing hard punches or anything like that. And if someone falls down in a precarious situation, the encouraged reaction is to help the person up. Nobody there (besides the odd "crazy person" ) is looking for or expecting a real fight. I'm not defending this because it's what I'm into or anything... In fact I inhabit a totally diffent culture... But I've had friends that were into this and went to a concert or two as a teenager - which is why I know what it's about. I actually found that the "metal kids" were on average artsy people with big emotions and desire to connect with others - which is why they gravitated towards energetic music and bonding with others through dancing/singing/games. I also noticed those guys were the kind who would wear their heart on their sleeve, passinately love their girlfriends, openly tell their friends and family members that they loved them, pursue art in their free time... And actually in my school more often then not, they got good grades. Just my experience! Cheers and all the best to you
