    If you are visiting Bisbee you need to go into their public library. It's like traveling back in time. Absolutely beautiful and also full of interesting individuals and displays.

      Great advice for when things return to normal, Emily! For now, though, it's closed through at least April 30, as is most of Bisbee.

    We’ve been traveling in Arizona in our RV this winter and just spent a month in Bisbee. It’s our 3rd winter visiting there. I enjoyed your video. Your video mentions the Copper Queen Hotel, but shows the Bisbee Grand Hotel.

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад

      True that, Mary Ann. It was just a weird, unintentional thing of timing as we dubbed in our narration, not intended to imply that we were showing the Copper Queen Hotel. The only shot we got of the Copper Queen Hotel was from the air.

    Hi Marc loved the town of Bisbee. We have been asked not to travel and lots of places have banned Motorhomes and campers. Phil is currently working delivering medications to Pharmacies so not getting much chance to spend time in his studio. Stay safe P&J

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад

      Hey Juliet! Great to hear from you. Wishing you and Phil safety and good health over there. Many parts of the US are currently under stay-at-home orders that are being more strictly or more loosely enforced, depending on the state. Here in Arizona where we are at present, life is surprisingly normal for at the moment, for the vast majority of our cases are limited to several large urban areas, particularly New York City. We're far more isolated out boondocking in the desert than we would be at home. Stay safe!

      Grand Adventure Definitely.... Mine has pretty good clearance but terrible turning radius. Being full crew/bed. So good for some but not at all for others. We want to hit like Moab and stuff. But will definitely have to ask the experts what trails I can hit and not if in our truck. And then maybe also rent something to do others.

      @@nonrevhogan8938 Great Question, I have struggled with this. I prefer a 2 wheel drive for towing, but maybe 4*4 would come in handy for some boondocking locations. I think you will want to rent in Moab, lots of Jeeps for rent, not too expensive.

    My wife and I went over all of the options before settling on our View: trailers; 5th wheels; class A/B/C RV's. On big advantage of a trailer or 5th wheel is the ability to go off roading, as shown in this video. We carry a Suzuki DR-Z400, but I have to admit, most of the time I'd prefer a 4WD truck. Great video, as usual!

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад +1

      Thanks as always, folks! Indeed, each format of RV comes with its own inherent advantages and disadvantages. We went with a trailer for it doesn't require a second engine to maintain, and we can easily head out and explore without bringing a separate car.

    • @sajohnson33
      @sajohnson33 4 года назад +1

      @@GrandAdventure As anyone who owns an RV will say -- buying one is all about compromise and priorities. While driving (on pavement) we want a sports car or performance sedan -- once parked, we want it to transform into a 'rock star bus'.
      My wife and I looked very closely at Class B RVs (basically conversion vans) but finally decided that while their small size has advantages (parking, stealth camping, not subject to most length/height/weight restrictions) the disadvantages outweigh them.
      We still feel the View/Navion (and similar) is a good 'in-between' size. We would not want a rig that's any larger. On balance, I'd still take the View over a trailer or 5th wheel -- but there are times when it would be nice to have a 4WD truck to go exploring in. The downside (from my perspective) are the occasional difficulties with towing -- maneuvering in tight spaces and having to back up if a road is blocked or a dead-end, with no place to turn around. That's not that common though.
      Just thinking out loud. ;-)

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад +1

      @@sajohnson33 You certainly raise valid points. Like you said, it's all about compromise and weighing those factors that are most important to you. Sounds like you went through that very process, and I will confess those Views and Navions are beautiful machines. There's been a 2016 sitting in a used car lot that I drive past every day to the office. It's been there for at least a year. I won't say that I haven't been tempted to stop in and look at it.

    • @sajohnson33
      @sajohnson33 4 года назад +1

      @@GrandAdventure They're pretty nice, although I have to admit there are some that are better quality, including some of the Canadian mfrs, like LTV (Leisure Travel Vans) -- they are a lot more money though. I felt the View/Navion was a good value -- at the time. Unfortunately, Winnebago went into cost saving mode after 2009-2010. 2010 was the last year for the really nice cabinetry with the marine style 'push-to-lock' hardware. 2009 was the last year for the larger (18 gal) LP tank w/manual shut-off valve. The newer ones have 13 gal tanks with a solenoid actuated valve. For boondockers like you and I that's a big drawback because just the valve pulls 1A constantly from the batteries -- 24 Ah per day.
      I could go on, but suffice it to say that if I were buying one now I'd look for a 2008-2010, with 2009 being the sweet spot (first year for the 5,000/500 lb hitch).
      I'll admit to having a twinge of envy watching you drive to those ruins in your truck. The first part of the road I'd take the View on, but not that washed out part -- not intentionally anyway!

    I really enjoy your videos, Marc, and have watched almost all of your 144 episodes. You find the coolest campsites! I'm just wondering if you ever get nervous or have had any experiences when you have met another RV coming at you in the opposite direction when you are traveling on one-lane gravel backroads. It gets real tricky here in parts of Oregon with all of the trees, and no place to pass oncoming RV's. Have you had to deal with this?

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  4 года назад

      We have, Kenny, and thank you so much for your viewership! We've also had to back a half mile down a winding one-lane forest road with a steep drop-off to one side, that wasn't fun but it wasn't related to other traffic. When we've encountered others coming the opposite way, together we've just always made it happen. Folks are generally very courteous and understanding. I can't really say that we think about it much while driving those roads.
