@@mimszanadunstedt441 There is no evidence eyeglasses cause your vision to deteriorate or makes you live longer (what) but Looking at things close up for a long period of time (like video games and reading) can cause temporary problems with focusing on far objects. Ok this sounds weird but to me pinky snapping makes some sense. She grew up for a while where there was no happiness then she learned she can be happy and make her family happy with party's. So when she "learns" that they don't like her party's and that it doesn't make them happy she'll snap and kinda loose it realizing that what she learned is a lie and yeah.... Kinda makes sense. Especially since it's her best freinds
Actually... I can totally believe Pinkie forgetting her own birthday, after all, I'm the kind of girl who remember everyone's birthday... but totally forget about mine until someone give me a phone call to wish me a happy birthday. Yeah, it really happened... More than one time.
Not to mention, it's an aversion of the cliche in which the character has a birthday party, and thinks everyone has forgotten it. But in actuality they're planning a surprise party.
Theory, Pinkie remembers a lot about her friends which is everyone in Ponyville and she remembers their birthdays and ties to throw them a party. So her being so busy making her friends happy she has forgot her birthday as it isn't her mind focus it's her friends' birthdays.
this is also supported that she was planing Gummy's after-party. And in Pinkie pride she said party planing is a very serious business then again, I have tons of important stuff to do during school. But I remember my birthday easy. But as everyone tells me "what might be easy for you, Might not be as easy as others"
You can't say a plot is predictable because you know the end. The end is only a tiny smidgeameter of the whole plot. Was Pinkie's breakdown predictable? Hell no. Was anything else predictable? Noooooo. The plot was not predictable whatsoever.
Agreed. The surprise party is fairly predictable, and Pinkie spiraling downwards is also somewhat predictable, but the psycho party was not at all predictable, and was pretty much the highlight and climax of the episode. If the most important part of the episode was something nobody predicted, then it's not predictable. Besides, even if the surprise party was better disguised, the audience would still know that the rest of the cast wasn't really ending their friendship with her. So the catalyst for the crazy party would be predictable no matter how it was written.
I also think the reason why she forgot her own birthday party is that she only focuses on what makes her friends happy and she has no self worth but one part of her mind does and that tries to take over after pinkie made the worst out of the situation thinking that her friends didn't want to be her friends, which in turn made Pinkie get sad having inanimate objects tell her to have self worth which really just was her mind trying to convince pinkie to get mad at her friends because one part of her mind is mad about the way pinkie's friends treat her, like she's completely crazy!
even tho you gave a such bad review about "keep calm and flutter on". this review was so gold that i forgive you for that. the commentary is gold, you reaction's hilarous, and i just loved it. thumps up to you.

I don't blame Spike for not caring about Pinkie. She was being mean to him, so it's justified. The moral seems good, but if you don't have those kinds of friends, it can be depressing. Also, you've never given a good explanation of why you don't like the ending to It's About Time.
I really like AJs lying scenes. First off, she's not some sort of zealot, who believes that principles can NEVER be compromised. Saying that AJ should never lie leads to the obvious conclusion of what she would do if Nazi Ponies came to her door, asking her if she knew where any Jew Ponies were hiding. Lying is sometimes acceptable. However, her being so bad at lying, and often trying to resort to half-truths displays that, while she accepts the need to do it sometimes, she is really uncomfortable doing it. It's a nice bit of characterization.
I agree with everything you say Mr Enter about this episode. Especially the part about Spike being in a bad light here. No offense, if you like Spike, readers, then I won't complain, but Spike to me is usually a little bit annoying at times, but since he is pretty much comic relief in the show (save for that bad episode he got where he was out of character and thought he was somepony else's bitch for saving his life) I forgive him.
I agree with your thoughts on Spike. I find him. A nuisance most of the time except for Spile at your Service. Than he was awful but hey, he's like, 2 and the rest are presumed to be 20-30
Many fans believe Cupcakes is the scariest story. OooOOOoooh~ forced decapitation and blood... meh. Party of One is the scariest episode ever, simply because of the scene when Pinkie broke.
Party of One is my favourite episode of Season 1, and is easily in my all-time top 5. Why? Pinkamena. I _love_ Pinkamena. She is best pony, & I wish the show would use her more. This episode does have its (minor) flaws though, and it's unfortunate that they can only be explained away using headcanon... - This episode gives us a glimpse into the _real_ Pinkie, a girl who is at heart paranoid and depressed, who self-medicates by forcing herself into a state of constant mania. By that same token, she's an extreme altruist with zero self-worth, which translates into her placing everyone else's welfare above hers. This explains why she remembers the birthdays of every single resident of Ponyville but not her own. Pinkie says it herself in "A Friend In Deed" - the only thing that makes her life worthwhile is seeing others smile. She doesn't care about herself; she gave up long ago, but she still doesn't want anyone else to end up like her. The problem with being in a manic state like that is that you *_will_* crash; the higher the highs, the lower the lows. Party Of One shows us Pinkie crashing. It ain't pretty.
Tyler Leach Actually, "Cupcakes" came out over a month _before_ Party Of One or Cutie Mark Chronicles aired. A little research - which doesn't even require reading it - would tell you that. Po1's breakdown scene may have inspired the imitators & artists, but not the original.
Poor Pinkie Pie, I haven't seen somepony / person that deflated since Andrew Luck in last year's NFL playoffs, but, all told, this is my absolute favorite episode (and coincidentally the first I ever watched) featuring the best visually hilarious scenes that don't require even a word of dialogue.
If there was one problem I had with this episode, it'd be how the other main five go out and plan a surprise party the day of Pinkie's. Since her birthday was that day, and she had a party going on then, why didn't her friends assume it was for her birthday? For all they knew, it must have been.
This was one of Andrea Libman's favourite episode to voice. Just saying. Across various episodes, Pinkie is portrayed as feeling things very deeply, and she often goes from one extreme to another. There's almost no 'content' Pinkie Pie. She's either happy, sad, or angry. This episode shows that having friends is extremely important to her, and that without them she breaks. Yes, the scene is pure Nightmare Fuel. And it works. The moral, and the reason for the 'ie' logo, should be 'never mess with Pinkie Pie!'
I don't think Spike being oblivious here is unforgivable... If he'd seemed worried but uncomfortable to say anything, it would have been perfect (she just detained him and screamed in his face). The fact that he went about happily eating gems indeed was not the best.
I personally think Pinkie Pie forgetting her own birthday does make some sense. If you think about it, yes, she is a party pony, but the parties she plans always seem to be for other people. She's memorized the birthday of everypony else, but I think it's possible that that focus on other people would lead her to forget about herself. I know I've done it. But... Even if she did remember it was her birthday, the episode would probably have gone the same way. There just would have been an added line in the Spike part about how, "They don't care enough about me to come to my birthday party!" I think it would have gone the same way. Side note: I really, really love Pinkie Pie. XD
I know why spike dosen't notice pinkie's depression. he was given a large pile of jewels dragon greed and selfishness is directly tied to material goods in their possession. It isn't spike's fault, because it is part of the nature of the dragons of mlp.
well if i was tied up by some one for god knows how long (its pinkie pie, he could have been there for hours) i probably would not give a single fuck about how the person who tied me up felt afterwards
9/10 The more I watch this episode, the more I like it. Everypony's excuses to skip out on the party was great (AJ and Rarity's were gold, especially the attention to how bad of a liar Apple Jack is) and Pinkie was amazing in this episode (Her descent into madness to be precise).
This episode is awesome. I just love it. Besides Sonic Rainboom, it's my favorite episode of the season. The humor is some of the best I've seen of not only season 1, but a good majority of the show. Maybe even the whole show. Pinkie was great as well as just weird. This episode may be predictable, but the ride was so much fun. The entire scene where Pinkie goes insane is definitely a WTF?! moment. Is it the biggest WTF?! moment? It's one of the biggest, but I don't know. This show throughout it's 7 year run has had many WTF?! moments. Other than the problem of being predictable, this was one of the best episodes of the season and up there with my top 50 or even top 30-40 episodes of the show. My Rating: 5 Out of 5 Stars Gold
This is one of the many episdodes that makes me wonder "What the hell are the writers thinking?!?!" This is a Cartoon AIMED AT YOUNG AUDIENCES having a character go Visibly Insane is Really freaky i remember watching this when i was little and it scared the crap out of me i had nightmares
This was a really good episode for me, because I've had moments of severe paranoia caused by anxiety (although not quite as bad as Pinkie), and it is true that you should expect the best from your friends rather than jump to the worst possible conclusions. It really helped me laugh at my paranoia in hindsight.
Try watching the season 4 finale first. A large portion of the episode is pretty much a flat out DBZ fight. If anyone tries to demean you, show them that fight. Just don't let them know that that kind of thing is very rare.
"Later that night, we see everypony else leaves with Pinkie trying to get Twilight to stay longer. Um, no comment." I laughed at that line! Although I liked Lesson Zero better, this episode was still great. And that Cupcakes reference. Priceless!
So I just watched pretty much all of your mlp playlists one after another, and I am amazed how many times you mention that creepypasta. DId it really have that big an effect on you? Maybe you should read the Hush Now Quiet Now creepypasta where Fluttershy snaps while she's babysitting the CMC and kills them.
she orgot her birthday cuz she dont know her birthday date just watch the cutie mark chronicles she never had a birthday so when her friends asked her when is her birthday she just said a random date and i also think she is adopted and she has no connection to the rock family the cakes are the closest relatives she could find after the rocks told her she is adopted
This is one I can see how Megan be a great writer. My friend really is inderferent about this as while he see it, he feels that it shows to much gags in place of story and looks at it as a average episode.
My favorite episode The sad Pinkie thing is a moot point. Why WOULD'NTT the joy-spreader thinking she was failing at making her bes friends happy be sad? To the AJ honesty detractors. how awkward she acts while lying, to the point Liarjack was an unconvincing liar. What you believe is true, even when deluding yourself, defines what is a lie to you. She rarely lies outside of the season 2 opener.
I think that ever since pinkie pie was a filly she had no reason to be happy because every situation she was in was horible. So now she still tries to make the worst out of good situations because she thinks diffirently and wants to think positive in bad situations to make them better. But since hardly anything bad hapens now, she tries to do the oppisite in hopes of making it better even though she doesn't need to. So I think every thing she does in this episode made sence because of the way she normally acts. So when she goes crazy it's her atemp at trying to make her own situation better. Though that's just my oppinion.
What really concerns me about this episode is Pinkie's friends. Not only did they lie to her, which they should know better than to do from previous episodes, but at the end they seem to gloss over the fact that their avoiding her causes her to have a genuine PSYCHOTIC EPISODE! What the hell guys? The happiest pony in town just suffered an intense mental breakdown brought on by rejection issues, but hey, let's ignore that and party. What a great lesson
I think they realized the problem, but they thought that Pinkie Pie had reverted back to normal. So they saw no reason to bring it back up. Plus, Pinkie Pie did apologize for jumping to conclusions. If she had just had faith that her friends weren't trying to get rid of her, she wouldn't have gone you know what crazy.
I don't really like this episode, and I can't explain why... I dunno, they lengths the mane 6 go to in order to keep the surprise party a secret, it just feels a bit extreme... Then again, Pinkie's pretty extreme. So extreme in fact, that when she's sad, I'm sad with her, to the point that I was with Pinkie in not going with Rainbow Dash. Even though I kind of "knew" that they were all still friends and they didn't really not like her parties, I STILL feel like it was all way too suspicious. Even if it's Pinkie's fault for jumping to conclusions, I can't help but sympathize more with her, to the point where when she immediately changes her mood once she finds out it's her birthday, it just didn't feel right; I wanted her to continue to be upset, even though that doesn't make any sense. Also, even though yeah, Pinkie, the party maniac who remembers everypony's birthday should remember her own, I think the mane 6 should have known that Pinkie would plan a party on her birthday regardless, and should have planned for that. Like, seriously, even if she DID forget her birthday, who's to say she wouldn't plan a party regardless. Twilight's excusable, but her other friends should know better having known her longer!
...teeeeeeeeeeechnically, Applejack is not lying. When she tells Pinkie that she's got to gather apples, she's actually gathering apples. When she prevents Pinkie from entering the barn because they were doing construction within, it was ALSO the truth. ...from a certain point of view...
Also, I HATE that Spike essentially caused Pinkie's descent into madness and is never called on it. ...Though yeah, Pinkie's "party" is the best part of the episode.
my main issue is how overrated Pinkie's freak out scene is in this episode. So is the story based off of that. Also, it's dumb to give Pinkie her whole name just because she got depressed. Especially when the happy characters in other shows have gone crazy as well.
to me this ep was like the first ep of walking dead when ti little girl gets blown away and the walker with no legs, it was awesome but the creators will never have the balls to do it again.
One more thing: the thing about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, I don't find it funny a lot of the time. Maybe it's my personal taste in humor, but I laugh more at Adventure Time, Gravity Falls, and Wander Over Yonder then I do this show. Most of the time, the humor feels really telegraphed, and stuff I can see coming, either that or the humor comes in episodes I hate/don't like and thus the humor makes me hate the episode even more. Just so you know where I'm coming from with this show and it's humor.
***** Ah, I see! I totally should have gotten that, as Hetalia is one of the fandoms I was really into a few years back (I've even seen some 2p cosplays and fanart around, idk how I didn't make the connection). Thanks for explaining!
Spike looks really greedy. I mean saying an obvious lie to get those gems? Even if you assume he was in on the party and didn't want to spoil the surprise, any real friend would have said "What? That's ridiculous, Pinkie. Your friends love you and your parties. They probably just need some alone time."
The show makes it known later that Any dragon can be prone to greed he had enough Gems there, for a Gem cake so that might be why it doesn't justify him but it is an explanation
The show makes it known later that Any dragon can be prone to greed he had enough Gems there, for a Gem cake so that might be why it doesn't justify him but it is an explanation
Muraia The Sagely He still could have said something to that effect (muffled so Pinkie couldn't understand it, thus not breaking the plot) while stuffing his face.
just reading that tax I have to say you failed to do that, but it's not your fault, it's Atrocities series that requires you to constantly bang your head,at least showstoppers gave you a nice clip to do that!
"Come on Twilly, stay a bit longer, I get awfully lonely in my bed. That's where the real party lays~" Pinkie pie said in a seductive alluring voice. I will see myself out

Pinkamena comes back in season 8 or in season 9
It returned in that Atrocity of an episode from Season 8 called "Yakity Sax (Seriously! Fuck this episode!)
Why does pinkie prefer cake foods over pies?
yeah man i also kinda regret reading cupcakes and the scene with rainbow and pinkemena didnt help but awesome episode though
I don't really blame Hasbro. It's more RUclips's fault with their broken copyright ID match system.
"Later that night, we see everypony else leaves with Pinkie trying to get Twilight to stay longer. Um, no comment."
I laughed at that line!
No! Bad whoever wrote it
she orgot her birthday cuz she dont know her birthday date
just watch the cutie mark chronicles she never had a birthday so when her friends asked her when is her birthday she just said a random date
and i also think she is adopted and she has no connection to the rock family the cakes are the closest relatives she could find after the rocks told her she is adopted
Ok what is with pinkie pie in this episode?! She's fucking terrifying!
0:40
Lol If only it was rainbow dash instead of twilight.
This is one I can see how Megan be a great writer. My friend really is inderferent about this as while he see it, he feels that it shows to much gags in place of story and looks at it as a average episode.
1:48 considering her human counterpart needs them you maybe right
CUPCAKES WAS MY FIRST CREEPYPASTA!
+Dazen It's one of my favorites
surprise,surprise...:-)
It makes me happy when people tell me the pony I'm most like is Pinkie Pie, because she represents the element of laughter! 😄
wait! you've played LSD?! i've seen caddicarus's review and i feel sorry for you.
is this a good episode to watch as your 1st one?
Can u make a vid of the episode?
My favorite episode The sad Pinkie thing is a moot point. Why WOULD'NTT the joy-spreader thinking she was failing at making her bes friends happy be sad? To the AJ honesty detractors. how awkward she acts while lying, to the point Liarjack was an unconvincing liar. What you believe is true, even when deluding yourself, defines what is a lie to you. She rarely lies outside of the season 2 opener.
That what the f*ck was one of the best things I’ve heard XD
You know what? I don't want Twilight to feel Self-conscious. Everybody Pee!
Why are people commenting Cupcakes reference? Is it an episode or...?
I think that ever since pinkie pie was a filly she had no reason to be happy because every situation she was in was horible. So now she still tries to make the worst out of good situations because she thinks diffirently and wants to think positive in bad situations to make them better. But since hardly anything bad hapens now, she tries to do the oppisite in hopes of making it better even though she doesn't need to. So I think every thing she does in this episode made sence because of the way she normally acts. So when she goes crazy it's her atemp at trying to make her own situation better. Though that's just my oppinion.
YEA A VIDEO THAT HAS ME IN IT~!
well hmm she is going to cut everyone
Pinkie! Please don't cut me! Or turn me into cupcakes! I'll even be your servant! (we can rp if you want...)
well sheeet
Snowflakesleepy LPS Ahahaha.... fanfics... (rp sounds okay I guess...)
(can i throw fireballs?)
They didn't know that this is still season 1 and not close to the finale
If pinkie just said for example: I forget my birthday all the time so I will not relize there are a suprice party
That's a good point. People love sad Pinkie, but they can't give lying Applejack a break? What's up with that?
But what if your friends ditch you and decide that they hate you? Therefore the moral is dumb.
Do you know what happened in this episode pinky goes completely Mentos!
Didn't this episode inspire Cupcakes
...teeeeeeeeeeechnically, Applejack is not lying.
Rubberman202 pinkie should known spike was just telling her what SHE wanted to hear
my main issue is how overrated Pinkie's freak out scene is in this episode.
4:17 CupCakes refrence.
I think that Pinkie forgot her birthday because she does not like to though party's for herself only for other ponies ( that is just what I think.)
At 4:10 it's turning into cupcakes!!!
A obvious ending is better then a bad ending.
**Whoisthisgit intensifie**
so this is where the creepypasta camr from-
That is what happens when pinky gets depressed she transform Pinkamena Diane pie it will be the scariest thing you will ever see in my little pony
That's EXACTLY what I thought!
0:41 no comment lol
Is "I'm horripied" a joke or a miss spelling or what...?
It gets major points from me for all the cupcakes fan service.
You sound like Cryaotic sometimes XD
i don't get it, what are we not talking about?
***** Ah, I see! I totally should have gotten that, as Hetalia is one of the fandoms I was really into a few years back (I've even seen some 2p cosplays and fanart around, idk how I didn't make the connection). Thanks for explaining!
SolecisticMiss You're welcome. :)
so THIS is where that creepypasta came from.
Spike looks really greedy. I mean saying an obvious lie to get those gems? Even if you assume he was in on the party and didn't want to spoil the surprise, any real friend would have said "What? That's ridiculous, Pinkie. Your friends love you and your parties. They probably just need some alone time."
Hey if you were being Interrogated by your mother's friend who is at least four times your age, you would be intimidated too
***** I know. It was a reference joke but yeah that's not very threatening
Thank you
Yes yes I agree the plot was very predicl
Pinkie goes something something.
Cupcakes was born.
"Come on Twilly, stay a bit longer, I get awfully lonely in my bed. That's where the real party lays~" Pinkie pie said in a seductive alluring voice.
I will see myself out
I hate this episode, but that’s probably because I hate surprise parties.
