    I know people don't buy these cars to modify, but nobody wants to talk about how the atlas has almost the same aftermarket support as the golf, theres lowering springs coilovers, raising kits, tunes wheels made specifically for the car there's subwoofers made to replace the spare tire holder there's so many things you can do to these cars and everybody just reviews them and they're like oh it's boring
    My dad has a a vr6 atlas on coils and with an apr intake and an exhaust and the thing is a lot of fun to drive. It feels like a really big Mark 4 GTI.
    And with that new EA888 2.0T in it stage one is like 350 horsepower

      I'm a VW fan, my dad was a Chief Foreman for VAG (VW Audi Group) until 1995. VWs are just not what they use to be in build quality and reliability. More so for the US built vehicles vs European built. There is already a major engine recall on the 2024 Atlas.

    Pilot over Atlas any day. The Pilot may have a small screen, but at least I don’t have to rely on the screen for everything like climate controls. In the Honda, you can adjust climate controls without changing the infotainment display because all you would have to do is to push a button or turn a knob. In the VW, you have to open up climate in the infotainment and go into menu after menu. Honda’s infotainment only controls audio and navigation for equipped trims, that’s how it should be. The infotainment and capacitive panels shouldn’t be usurping buttons for HVAC and headlights

The driving experience, premium feel was better as well as overall room and getting in and out. The only thing I would give a slight edge to the Honda was reliability. Both our dealers here are exceptional so we have not experienced any issues with delayed parts. With 5 kids we have 8 vehicles in the family and these 2 brands are my favorite.

    When the new generation Honda Pilot was resigned, Honda made it a point to talk about the Trailsport trim, and how they resigned it with additional features to be more suitable for off road use. One of those features is called TrailWatch.
    At 13:55 Sam mentioned the lack of 360 camera on the Pilot Trailsport. This is due to Honda decision to remove the TrailWatch system from the Canadian Pilot Trailsport. TrailWatch is only available on American Pilot Trailsport.
    More people really need to call Honda out for removal of the TrailWatch from the Canadian version.

      @tomkatt2321 4 месяца назад

      I used to have that mindset as well - until I began seeing how many modern engines seem to have issues with the chain drive... Not sure if it's materials or design, but overall it seems that so long as you do replace a belt on schedule they are almost _more_ reliable than the average chain design. Many stories from multiple brands warning about stretch chains or skipped teeth - maybe it's related to the modern valvetrain complexity?
      Either way, the 105K belt replacement in our 2015 Pilot cost about $700 - when you consider that includes a new water pump, I think that's not too bad for resetting the reliability factor.

    See which one you like after the warranty has expired. The Honda is going to be far less expensive to own. Especially when the turbo breaks on the puny I-4 engine (as you know that it will). That 3.5 l V-6 will go nearly forever. Not to mention that the Pilot has a FAR better 4WD system than the Atlas.
    Personally, can't understand why so many people put so much emphasis on gadgets and gismos. Things that you are rarely going to be use and will inevitably fail. The Pilot is a vehicle that doesn't overwhelm you with those features and I prefer that. Scrolling through menus to control nearly everything isn't for me. It's also dangerous. There are enough distracted drivers out there. I don't need to be one of them. But, people don't feel fulfilled if they are not swiping screens.

      How dare you said Honda has better not full time AWD than Atlas? Have you ever drive 4motion Vw before? Honda and toyota and Nissan carries the most unreliable and unstable fake AWD. You need to learn to own a car and have longer test drive then type your words

    • @tomkatt2321
      @tomkatt2321 4 месяца назад

      If you're the type of car buyer that trades in every 3-5 years, you can even drop down to Hyundai / Kia if you wanted all the gadgets to save money. But if you buy for long term ownership, Honda / Toyota is the way to go.
      My 2009 CRV had 335K on it when I traded it in - and I still got a respectable payment for it! Similarly, we just got $12K for our base model 2015 Pilot with 160K miles - that's because even with that milage there's plenty of life left in it.

      I too have owned both. Honda is cheaper to maintain but less enjoyable to drive. We got rid of a last gen Honda Pilot for an Atlas. The Atlas felt slightly larger was actually much better over a road bump near our home. The seats in the VW have held up substantially better than the cheap leather used in the Hondas. The infotainment was much better in the VW. The Honda fm reception was trash. We paid extra for the Nav in the Honda and it was awful. The icon for your car would hover in the air off to the side of the highway. Multiple updates didn’t correct. Fit and finish wasn’t as good either. Unfortunately it was the last of five Hondas I’ve owned. We currently have an Atlas, a Jetta, and a GLI. They have all been dependable and maintained accordingly. You will spend more for things like brakes but I was able to get 50k out of the first set on my Atlas and just swapped the ones on the Jetta at 55k miles.

    That type of turbo engines are typically less powerful, less reliable, more expensive to maintain and repair. The only advantage of the turbo is slightly higher efficiency. And looks like the most carmakers start to chase for efficiency and absolutely ignores that turbo engines have not the best dynamic. That causes people to buy hybrid (if they do need efficiency and performance) or v6 ( if they need long term relaiblity and performance). And this made turbo kind of strange solution without any true visible advantage.

      I’m a dinosaur who prefers smaller 18” wheels and physical controls for things I use all the time. VW’s obsession with haptic and touch screen isn’t what I want to deal with while driving in Seattle traffic. I’d also prefer a normally aspirated engine for relative simplicity. I’ve been a VW fan for years (GTI, Alltrack, and a Golf) but the Pilot will get the nod for my family SUV.

      Looks is subjective and superficial, therefore it does not determine which is a better machine. The “wood” trim on the VW is a great example because that piece is actually dipped plastic. How can you know for sure that VW has a higher build quality than Honda and Toyota? The Honda is designed to be more durable than VW, this means Honda has the better build quality.

    Not to mention, the Honda is a new gen while the VW is several years old now.

    but in all honestly, America has an obsession with large cars and SUVS. I would never buy either.

    • @Blank00
      @Blank00 7 месяцев назад +2

      VW has not closed the gap. The 2024 Atlas already has been recalled for engine issues. How can you be sure that the new Atlas has better build quality than the new Pilot? Have you been inside both of the latest versions? The Honda is more durable, that’s better build quality. The Honda also has better ergonomics, because if you want to adjust climate controls or headlights for instance, you use hard buttons with tactile feedback and they work almost 100% of the time. In the VW, those functions are controlled by capacitive panels and some features are baked into the infotainment. This is a less ergonomical solution. When it comes to baking things into the infotainment, you would have to go into menu after menu for some features, which is more tedious than pressing a button. Capacitive buttons are less ergonomical than real buttons because capacitive will not always recognize input if you are wearing gloves or if you press with a fingernail. Also, styling is subjective and not everyone needs the tech in the VW
