@ Thank you for your comment, Oscar. It really depends on what you are after. Calligraphy can also be both enjoyable and accessible depending on the style you are interested in. At the same time, hand lettering can also be very strict and sophisticated - again depending on your choices and preferences. The beauty here is that the choice is very wide and everyone can find something they like to do, and that's, in my opinion, the most important part. If you don't enjoy it, then what's the point? :D

@@letteringdaily I reeeally do enjoy both.. But I need a looot of practice I guess..
@ Me too! Yeah, it's basically a never ending process :D If there is something specific that you need help with let me know. I also run a support group on Facebook with a ton of awesome people just sharing their knowledge and experiences daily. I think that could also be super helpful if you are trying to improve :)

Thank you for explaining the difference between calligraphy and hand-lettering! I'm messing them up sometimes, so it's great to have this resource (+the article with even more info) when I need it.
Hello bro, I like your video’s very much!!!! Both of the examples of hand lettering and calligraphy have my love so I can’t choose. Have a blessed Sunday!!!
Wow…I FINALLY understand the difference between the three. Thank you! Very detailed but you still got right to the point. Calligraphy for me! It’s absolutely beautiful.
Hehe thank you so much, Raghuveer! How not? :D I create all the artwork for the videos and articles on the website :) You can also find my personal page under @meximuss on Instagram

So what I learnt as handlettering was actually calligraphy? It didn’t help that people who called brush lettering modern calligraphy were called out by people saying that it was handlettering. By the way, thank you for such an awesome video. I have always been confused between handlettering and calligraphy, so this was a very informational video. I’m going to check out your articles now. P.S. Could you drop tutorials on different styles of calligraphy? I love calligraphy very much, but you can rarely find comprehensive tutorials on styles of calligraphy other than modern calligraphy. Just came back from your article and I got a tiny bit more confused. So, when we make strokes to create a letter, would it be calligraphy or handlettering?
Thank you very much for the kind comment! Sorry to hear that you were called out :D If you are creating letters with single strokes, then yes, that would be calligraphy. A stroke is just a term for a pen movement, don't let that confuse you. Drawing and writing - that's the main difference between the two. As for the different calligraphy styles, you will find various tutorials on the website. Tutorials on Blackletter, Italic, Foundational, Copperplate, etc. I just recently started with making RUclips videos so more content will come soon here as well :)
Both are dope when used properly, hand lettering seems less rigid to me though, like more is possible to do with it. Anyhow great and informative vid thank you !
Also, how do we differentiate between hand lettering, brush lettering, brush calligraphy and calligraphy? I have come across all these terms lately, but never really understood the difference.
In the article that I wrote i cover the topic more in-depth. I also talk about the terms you mentioned in your comment. I would advise that you check it out :) You can find the link in the description!
Oh thanks! That's just me doing some brush calligraphy :D I guess it's my own style that is still nameless. Perhaps i could develop a script out of it? :)
Do you like more hand lettering or calligraphy? Or do you prefer typography? Let me know by dropping a comment below! 😄✍
calligraphy is very sophisticated... while hand lettering is more enjoyable and accessible by newbies like myself
