I have no idea who you are guy, but I just want to thank you for the depth of my soul for these vids. I have been out of the Army for 8 years now, and have struggled greatly, trying to find a new career that would give me the same sense of purpose, that being a Soldier did. After watching your vids, I can say beyond a shadow of doubt THIS is what I want to do. I have not been this optimistic and excited about a career aspect, since I shipped out for Basic at the age of 18. Again thank you soo much good sir!
I'm starting college on September 15 for surgical tech , I'm so EXCITED. 🤗 I love watching your videos it shows how great you are in this field, thanks for sharing your every day journey with us .🙏🏼
@I Frenzy U actually my school has really amazing college classes that will save me a lot of money. After I graduate I will definitely be heading to a really good medical school. Thanks for the tip though.
I’ve literally had 38 ice surgeries… And I never got to see the operating room due to my lack of eyesight. If you are wondering how I know what I’m typing, well, Apple has accessibility features.
Hello from Ireland 👋😀🇮🇪 I've had 3 surgeries so far, each time I was terrified. First 2 surgeries were Orthopaedic related and 3rd was to Gynae related. Most recent surgery I had was a Diagnostic Laparoscopy, I was a bag of nerves to the point I started to hyperventilate 😖 doesn't get easier but this video is interesting and well explained 🙂👍well done! 👨⚕️
Thanks for this video, it refreshes my experience, been 2 years since I stop working in the OR, but I'm planning to go back again if someone give me a chance. Just keep posting and sharing videos.
I worked in Pharmacy so we had the whole issue of knowing where every drug is. We always had our new hires working on putting the drug order away. They learn where things are and the more senior techs can run the pharmacy. After they stock we'd have them fill so they would have to go retrieve the drugs from the shelf. It was pretty effective.
Just wanted to say thank you for posting your videos! You inspired me to go back to college and I enrolled in the surgical technology program and I start my first job as a CST on 1/29/24
You are awesome and so are these videos. I was lucky enough to be chosen for a surgical tech program and am enthralled in it now, actually for the next 11 months. You are amazing and make it look so easy, lol! I will be binge watching your videos all weekend while studying. THANK YOU AGAIN~~~Stephanie Wescott
I've been a Nursing Assistant for a Few Year's now...I've been looking into going back to SCHOOL for Surgical Technologist...Man I'm nervous and Doubting myself already watching your Videos, So much to Learn....lol.On Top of what u need to learn in the Class Room.....Wish I was at your level Already...I got this...Looking into Schools Now🤙🤙👍👍
I appreciate this video, well done. I never remember seeing a video like this. Interesting seeing the inside of the Operating room and glad to see it so organized.
He’s able to do it because he isn’t disclosing what hospital it is or any important details relax also let’s be real he has to be telling someone that he’s going to record.
I've had surgeries throughout my life. But I NEVER really pay attention to what the OR looks like. My most resent surgery was 2 year to remove my gallbladder. All remember was sliding myself on table and being covered with blankets. I also remember talking to a nurse. But also watch the surgeon a thing on my leg. Then was asleep, I woke up to the anesthetist pulling a type out of my throat.
You will spend a great deal of time peeking into the OR's trying to determine an approximate time that room will come down so you can strip the table, wipe down the field tables, mop the floors and empty kick buckets, biohazard, linen and waste bins. Many times you might be expected to grab the feet during transfer from table to stretcher. You will stay busy doing things not even in your job description
really enjoying your vids. i am a new subber......retired now, was a medical office assistant...always wanted to do what you do, just never had the courage to go for it.
Thanks for the tour! By the way, the actor is easy on the eye LOL. Good start for a newbie and keeping it real. My new project for class. Video! I will credit your idea
I was hoping to get a glimpse of the OR when I had my first ever surgery (Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy) in 2015 but wasn't able to because I was given a shot of Midazolam (Versed) when I was still in the prep cubicle which knocked me out completely and next thing I knew, I was in the Recovery Room.
Just found your channel! I'm about to start school for Surgical Tech. You're making me very excited but also so helpful into what I will expect to see!
You call it the OR which must mean operating room, in Ireland its called the operating theatre, you hear the expression the patient is still in theatre
Thanks, Im a medical student in a not Eng country. Your video helps me imagine a real OR in your country as well as I can practice listening skill ahihi
I’m only 13 and i rly want to become a cardio surgeon, that’s why I study a lot of things such as running while stitches and how deep to make incisions
This is awesome! 😅 Not sure how I even stumbled upon this video but nice to see you doing fun stuff on RUclips and it was good to get to see MV again! 😁 Hope as is well, Vesa...
Hi, what would you think of an Autonomous Mobile Robot to help the nurses in the OR by mobilizing, for example, surgical packets to the actual room where an operation will happen? The idea is to take away some no-value-adding burden of the nurses shoulders.
I would really like to do this job but it just don’t pay enough money in my area . Which is amazing to me that it is very involved to be a surgery tech
Surgical Tech Tips more evenly distributed would be a better solution. You have a person doing all the setup/ prep and makes 27k a year to assist a guy who makes 250k a year
My beef where I worked was that there was no specialty pay for OR staff. ER and ICU had that distinction, why not OR? You couldn't pull a nurse from another dept to help on busy days. I admit you would Not want me to be your ICU nurse. They deserved that pay, but OR should get it too.
Michael Rosenberry As the father of an anesthesiologist I understand your frustration, but remember, the guy making 250k (or most likely a lot more) went to school for 12 years including his residency, and maybe another year or two as a fellow before he started making a decent wage.
That’s the board where the cursing begins, or your joy as well! It’s where you realize your day is going to be HELL or HEAVEN! The surgeons, surgeries and team members are all posted there, we work in a very small and confined environment...you better have thick skin and good coping mechanism! 😎
What room/corridor does the clean SPD elevator open to in your Surgical department? I am a medical equipment planner (biomedical engineer) and I work with architects on the design/layout of the hospital and this is my first time working on the surgical department.

4:15 hey, looks a bit more exciting & worthwhile than a 5x5 cubicle or even that coveted corner office lol source: used to have a big office and haaated every minute, can't stand office work
Wow, I assume that a lot of your classes to learn to be a surgical tech go over all of those instruments. Also, do you get to spend a good amount of time in a hospital learning how to find things you need? My goodness, I'm interested in this field but that was a massive amount of "stuff" you guys need to be able to find and use properly. Amazing.
The stuff, is learned through using it in the OR setting. In school you learn what the certain pieces of equipment do, but in actual practical use is when the knowledge about where it all is and when its used comes in to play.
I have been trying to set up a shadowing experience. I talked to to someone but they really didn't have much information. I will ask my primary provider. May even ask my gyno even though i do not really see him anymore.

One thing I'd add is the importance of location of the facility adult/peds crash carts
I have had a chance to look around before I’m knocked out. It still intimidates me, even after fifteen surgeries, eight of them this year alone.
Do you guys have a gallery room where interns and other doctors can watch like greys anatomy?
Some hospitals have one like big hospitals

@@mrsd8302 I'm totally relaxed. Chill on the paranoia. The hospital I worked for would not approve anything of this sort. Must be a small hospital
