Thank you so much for this tutorial! Although I'm having problems in the shadow part. When I press shadows it doesn't appear like on your video, it goes all the way down and it brings a long shadow. When I press shadow limit, it doesn't look like it should be, just cuts the shadow and looks like it's a solid block. You have any idea on how to repair that?
Hey there, we are glad you liked our tutorial and regarding your problem, check if distance to object is set to 0% in the shadow section and try changing the shadow bounds value till you get a proper shadow, will suggest to keep it between 45% to 50%. I hope this helps.

thank you so much for this, i'm a design communication student and am just starting my second year. i decided to try this text effect for the valentine's day card that i was making for my boyfriend and it worked perfectly! i used slightly different fonts and the word i chose was "BALLS" lmao i have no clue why, i was initially going to try "VALENTINE" but that was too long of a word and looked quite chaotic on the page. so instead i opted for the silly inside joke with my boyfriend, he definitely will think i'm weird for it but i hope he likes it! giving it to him tomorrow :)

Hey there, in materials section try to keep the roughness to 0.15 or 0.25 instead of 0.35. If it still appears matte try to play around with the light rotation in lighting section. Hopefully that will fix the issue.

hey I am new to this, for example if I wanted this on a tshirt i wouldn’t want the pink background (the square),
and instead just transparent so it’s just the text and bubble writing.
What would be your recommendation🤣

You can skip the parts where we taught how to add the text at the back or any pink background and just create your 3d text, then export it as PNG and then use free mockups to add in on T-shirts, cups, etc.

Can you export the mesh? Would be fun to bring into Unreal and really get creative with animations...
That's a really good question! Sadly, Illustrator doesn't give us an option to export the mesh. So it wouldn't be compatible with any 3d software. Hopefully Adobe takes this into consideration for it's future updates🤞🏻

And as for the scroll option, it could be different reasons.
1 - The version of your Adobe Illustrator
2 - If you aren't getting a manual option to scroll you could try using your mouse scroll button to scroll down

Hey there, if you can't see FX in the properties tab you can click on effects in the top menu bar and can access the required effects you want.
why is mine grainy? is there anyway to fix it? or its just because idont have high end computer?
Hey there, you could try to update your graphic driver which should probably fix the issue.
If the issue still persists, it could be a software bug. To fix - when you enable ray tracing in 3d and materials panel there is a down arrow on the right side, click on it. There you will see an option called reduce noise will be checked by default, uncheck it and the issue should be fixed.
What software you use for your shortcuts indications?
We use Keyviz (free) for our shortcut indications.
3:40 How did you change a Object-Form Letter to a Text-Form Letter?
Hey there, the text was not converted into outlines/shapes. The letter B was just typed using type tool which was then duplicated and and used to type out the next letter, so the letters are editable. Hope this clarifies your doubt.
How to show 3D and material in my adobe illustrator, because mine just have 3D only??
Hey there, which Adobe illustrator version are you using ? The 3D and Materials panel was launched in Adobe Illustrator 2021 (October version 26.0) If you are using a version older than this you won’t get the 3D and Materials panel. I hope this helps.
Its cool and all, but Adobe we need more shapes than blir up baloon 3D.
Please consider upgrading the 3D aspect of illustrator.
And give us more tools from Photoshop like rgb slider, exposure. Excetera.

hi I had a question when I try to click inflate it won’t let me click it like it’s not a option for me . Do you know how to fix this ? I just downloaded it I got a 30 days free subscription before my monthly fee
Hi there, we haven't come across such an issue before so it would be a little hard to help you out but if you can't access the inflate option altogether then it's highly possible it is a bug, as of now you could try restarting your software or re-downloading it. Whereas, if you can access inflate but the options are greyed out it is because you have multiple inflated objects selected. You could try doing it by selecting one object at a time. Hope this would fix the issue.

We use the Adobe illustrator 2023 27.6.1 (64 bit) version. And if you still can’t find the Fx option on your right side panel, you can go in Windows > 3D and materials > Inflate.

I get a huge shadow with mine, and I don't know how to change
Hey there, looks like shadow bounds might be causing this issue. Go to FX > 3d & Materials > lighting > scroll down to shadow > left click on the arrow next to shadow and check if the position is set to Behind Object (if it's on below object, change it) below that, distance object should be 0% and shadow bounds to 111% (this is the default value). Hope this helps.

Can you do this on a iPad ?
Hey there, unfortunately the 3D and materials feature is not yet available on Illustrator iPad, so as of now creating this on an iPad won't be possible.
As i lock the layer the text tool doesn't work ...why is this happening
Hey there, looks like it’s a bug. Try to reset your Adobe Illustrator preferences by going in Edit > Preferences > General > Reset Preferences. I hope this helps.
