Absolutely. The fact that it uses your body weight means the intensity of the work out automatically fits you. I just switched front row in rugby, but due to various commitment I hadn't been able to train frequently. Thanks to those work out, I managed to last a whole game against a guy 25kg heavier than me. The great thing is, it emphasis on core as a group instead of just abs, abs and more abs.
wow this works pretty well...i've only done it a couple times and i can already feel a difference in my core...these exercises are easier. There isn't much of a burn anymore when i do my abs; only my back and obliques since i never worked them before. How should i work out to keep challenging my muscles?
Not bad...it didn't burn as much as I thought it would...about as intense as my current routine, but I love it because it also works my obliques and lower back, which my other routine didn't. thank you sp!
Wow I REALLY like this girl as an instructor. She's charismatic, has a great voice, and is easy to follow. Not to mention pretty but not intimidating in that sense..she's a girl next girl type. Anyway as for the workout I think it's wonderful! I have a baby pouch to get rid of and I believe this will be a BIG help! Thanks Nicole and good luck with your instructing...I would definitely take your class if I could! :)
I have enjoyed sparkpeople website or a while. I am excited to find the exercise videos on you tube. I have apple tv and this is a nice option for exercise.
@sparkpeople Your video is great.Thank you very much for helping us beginners!I only have one question, what should I do if my neck hurts during the exercise?I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. =(
Your video is great.Thank you very much for helping us beginners!I only have one question, what should I do if my neck hurts during the exercise?I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but I'm not sure what. =(
You only need to do it once in a day. Then rest at least one day before doing it again. Three times a week with a day of rest in between would be perfect! But remember that variety is key, so try other abs workouts, too.
@ScottColby You're talking about two different abdominal muscles, which both have to different main functions. The rectus abdominis (6 pack muscles) are the outer layer and ARE designed to flex the spine. Exercises like crunches are great to strengthen them. The transverse abs are underneath and run horizontally across the belly and are designed to stabilize the spine, so exercises like plank are great for that. Overall, a combo of core exercises will provide most benefits.
What's your take on not doing any crunches because your abs are designed to stabilize your spine, instead of flexing it? Moreover it's an isolation movement and your body was made to be worked as a whole unit. Would you find that the push up is a better abs exercise because it stabilizes your spine and works many muscle groups at once? Thanks.
I love this video. However I have always seemed to have trouble keeping my back strait and have a hard time completing some of the exercises because it starts to hurt to much (the bicycle is a killer for me!). I do not think I have a weak back because I can do the lower back exercise fine. Do you have any suggestions to help me improve?
I try to do these every other day since I go to the gym on the days that I don't do these. This has only been my second time doing these and I can already feel a slight difference it terms of how my abs feel after I do it. I don't know about getting six pack abs from these, but I think their great if you want to get rid of a slight paunch that you have especially in the lower abdominal region. However, I felt the burn in my upper abs the most.
im going to start doing this when i lose all my belly fat but just out of curiosity can u do this with having belly fat i mean i knnow u wont gain abs with belly faqt and doing this but does it help lose the belly fat or u gotta lose the belly faat then start doing these kind of workouts?
Don't lean into your arm too much. Make sure your elbow is directly under your shoulder and that you're not leaning into it--think of pulling that shoulder away from your ear and lengthening the upper arm. Try to evenly distribute your weight in your elbow and your foot. However, planks also work the shoulders, which are engaged to help stabilize the body in this position, so it's normal to feel those muscles working.
I love this video, and I do those excercises whenever I can. BUT: sth is wrong wirth the video comparing to the same video posted X 2006 - it has even more noise in the background plus its skipping (like on 13:52). If you could put a better copy - that would be great!
you don't burn any calories but if you modify some of the exercises and stretches, it can help stretch the abs and can help slim down...but this is mostly for strengthening the core
I wish sparkpeople would fix the skipping at 3:01. Other than that, this video is great and I use it often. Im hoping to move on to more difficult pilates routines in a few months.
That's why it's important to vary your routine. Too much of anything will become easy after a while and you won't see the same results. Vary your ab routine--we've got plenty on our channel page!
It will take longer than three weeks, although you should already be seeing small results. Have you tried cardiovascular exercises (cycling, running) to get rid of fat? The less fat on your chest/stomach you have, the more quickly you will see results. Diet is SO important.
is this workut meant for guys too? i did this today for the first time and two girls giggled by me when i did the stomach, hip pump exercise. it looks like mid air humping
This had some ab exercises that I'd never done before. It was great!
I love all the spark people workouts!

I really love your videos.. Great stuff! Thanks a lot!
how often should you be doing this workout? i feel like it shouldn't be everyday? i dont know anything about working out though!
A combo of both is ideal. Both have fitness and weight-loss benefits.
Really good workout!
I had a BFS (Better Faster Stronger) Student teacher that tought us these. VERY VERY helpfull to help increase flexability.
love this. i feel the burn!
im not overweight or anything, but i like doing it for the heck of it. :]
is it ok to run before this anyways just to get in some cardio to your workout
This is a great video. I'm gonna check out the others.
should u do the cardio before or after this workout?
thank you it helped very much í'm gonna do this every day from now on !!!
Great level of fitness and perfect body, NICE!
I try to do these every other day since I go to the gym on the days that I don't do these. Does it matter what time you do this in the day?
Should i do this straight away or do cardio to lose the fat on my belly first ?
how often are you supposed to do this exercise in a week?
Umm.. yea should i do this before or after cardioo??
That's so true! I did it the first time and had to keep breaking but now i can do everything perfectly.
im going to start doing this when i lose all my belly fat but just out of curiosity can u do this with having belly fat i mean i knnow u wont gain abs with belly faqt and doing this but does it help lose the belly fat or u gotta lose the belly faat then start doing these kind of workouts?
when I do side planks my shoulders hurt like crazy. Do you have an recommendations? I MUST be doing something wrong. Thanks!
wow really good . it had me sweating by 10 minutes. i like. ill do this every other day. thanks for posting
Hi. I've been trying to exercise for a while now but I just can't seem to get rid of the belly flab around my mid-section. Do you have any advice?
how often did you do the workout?
how long does it take to see results?
Good video - How come whenever I view it the talking isn't in line with the picture?
so how often do i have to do these workouts? twice everyother day for a month? I am just a little flabby, no need for anything extreme
Man your a beast, I'm dead tryed, great work out, thanks =)
Hard work out but good thats for sure!
I did the moderate option mostly, and i sure am sweating now:)
Thanks alot
how often should i do this
how many times would u have to do this losing 10 pounds
Heyy(: I have a question. Does this help you gain muslce or lose stomach fat?
Don't lean into your arm too much. Make sure your elbow is directly under your shoulder and that you're not leaning into it--think of pulling that shoulder away from your ear and lengthening the upper arm. Try to evenly distribute your weight in your elbow and your foot. great video!!!!
My lower neck is weak so I cant lift it for very long, what would you recommend for lower neck and shoulder?
I think that any workout you stick with that has progressions and makes you work out for 60+ minutes per day (P90 in a nutshell) will garner results.
Does this work if you dont do any cardio??
how long would it take to get a six pack
@sparkspeople what do you mean by ,,keep the abs engaged?
I love this video, and I do those excercises whenever I can.
BUT: sth is wrong wirth the video comparing to the same video posted X 2006 - it has even more noise in the background plus its skipping (like on 13:52). If you could put a better copy - that would be great!
you don't burn any calories but if you modify some of the exercises and stretches, it can help stretch the abs and can help slim down...but this is mostly for strengthening the core
I meant girl next door type...totally relatable and not annoying at all. Thumbs up!
I wish sparkpeople would fix the skipping at 3:01. Other than that, this video is great and I use it often. Im hoping to move on to more difficult pilates routines in a few months.
I can't get my shoulder blades off the mat... will that come with time? I'm really struggling to lift... thanks!
This Workout is awesome! After 2 Months you can see result. If you do it everyday while jogging, believe me, you will get your Six-pack.
i like to eat and watch, it's inspiration to do something soon, in the meantime, she's really informative, so it's great watching.
does this burn belly fat?
Well done!
That's why it's important to vary your routine. Too much of anything will become easy after a while and you won't see the same results. Vary your ab routine--we've got plenty on our channel page!
i was thin when i started this but after doing it everyday for a month i have abs and ive really gotten used to it :)
I LOVE COACH NICOLE :D
Nice work... Thanks..
I have a great body, thanks to this vid!!!
it is very effective workouts, thx very much...
I agree, excellent video.
i lost five months in two months by doin this and the 20 min. bumbell excercise and still eating the same. i love it.
yes i'm taking it sloow. :)
when i do the side plank, it really hurts my upper arms more than my core. am i doing this exercise wrong?
i love this video..all the workout is efecctive I recomend this excercises
For the stretch at 6:55 I always feel that placing my foot on the other side of the opposite leg gives me a greater stretch.
It's OK to support your head and neck in one or two hands when you're a beginner to these exercises.
It will take longer than three weeks, although you should already be seeing small results. Have you tried cardiovascular exercises (cycling, running) to get rid of fat? The less fat on your chest/stomach you have, the more quickly you will see results.
Diet is SO important.
Why does my neck hurt when I do these? Am I ding something wrong?
wow, that feels good!
it works for belly fat ?
is this workut meant for guys too? i did this today for the first time and two girls giggled by me when i did the stomach, hip pump exercise. it looks like mid air humping
@parriiee It means to pull your belly button in toward your back--to contract your abs muscles.
damn dat got me all sweaty im doin dis everyday
