Unfortunately it was more like the 2023 Great Electric Train Crash!! I went on the Sunday morning only to be told that the car parks were completely full and there was at least a two hour wait to get in. So turned round and went home again disappointed. At least I'd only travelled from Stevenage - unlike another punter I spoke to who had come all the way from Kings Lynn and was considering risking the £70 parking charge for staying in the ASDA car park next door for more than two hours. Was it too busy on Sunday because people were put off on Saturday due to the lack of parking due to the football? All in all it was a bit of a PR nightmare!! I'm glad I hadn't brought kids this time.☹

Thank god I didn’t go this year! I would not have liked to travel down from stoke area down to Milton Keynes only to travel back again

I think the Great Electric Train show was good in parts but a bit of a planning disaster. Without doubt mr Waterman's team produced an epic layout but the crowds it drew really detracted from the other (excellent) layouts on show. I'm ot saying don't do this agin but could you please give a bit more thought to the space allocated and the flows of people. Cheers Steve

Suppose I was lucky to get in by reading some comments, was disappointed with the venue as it was too small for this occasion, was too many people aswell, couldn’t really get a good look at the layouts as people were standing over them for ages so had to wait for people to walk away, even at the trade stands, as soon as I walked away from anything, someone was straight in. Was great to meet Charlie Bishop and Pete Waterman though, Pete’s layout was very impressive, don’t think it was big enough.

Well I'll be at the Bluebell Railways Giants Of Steam Gala so I might buy a model coach when I'm there so that way I'm celebrating Electric trains too

Any idea which day is generally less busy, or even time of day. It's very hard for a disabled person to see anything from behind a load of penguin's huddling together. 🐧🐧🐧 👨‍🦽

Sunday is usually quieter than Saturday at the Great Electric Train Show.

I did GETS for the first time last year and it was very busy. I'm doing both days this year so I can film the layouts properly and not have to rush.
The upper levels after opening were quiet for the first couple of hours as people gradually filter up. I head to the furthest layout at the top and work back, having plenty of room.
The afternoon of Sunday will be the quietest time but still fairly busy. The last hour you can get easy access to almost all layouts, but making tracks always had a crowd. I don't expect that one to go quiet at all during the show, but if people are crowding that one then they'll be more room at the other layouts.
I always give my space to anyone disabled as I can sympathize due to having family members in wheel chairs and I know the difficulty of getting around shows. I hope others will do the same for you

No parking on Sunday, and queues round the block to get in.
    Went home!
Needs a far better venue with much more parking.

they should have used the MK Bowl on sunday as well as overflow parking

@@hoc9640I managed to park a little way away, but given the car park must be sized in some proportion to the capacity of the venue, the place is clearly too small for this show. When I saw a long queue snaking round the corner to get in, it was clear the place was at capacity. Looking at the video, it's absolutely rammo!
Needs to move to a much larger venue, which by definition should have much more car parking. Happily, these are the problems of success, but it's killed the show for me.

Thank you for the feedback and sorry to hear you had such trouble with the parking. We are looking at how we can improve on parking arrangements for future events.

@@hornbymagfair play to you - it's a very successful show, but the venue is right for a local badminton tournament, not a national show.
Hopefully you can find somewhere much larger with tons of parking. Whilst it remains at that venue, it's too risky to travel to it because it may be full, (the venue, not just the parking), and the journey is wasted. Good luck with it, though - nice to see the hobby still going strong.

@@ericbeachhpa There were 4700 people who had purchased tickets online in the pre-sale offer and only 1/2 of them came through on the Saturday. Many, many others came to buy tickets on the door both days. The venue started to hold off people from entry due to over crowding and the car parks can only hold so much. While there was a wait and it was busy it was a brilliant exhibition and it was worth any slight inconvenience.

@@ericbeachhpa I totally agree with your message. The organizer's should have got Dews or Stagecoach to put double deck buses on the car park service. Even the railway shuttle was busy, with just two Stagecoach Northampton double deck buses.
