I wish straight across the board in this hobby people and web sites should mention Pitch size whenever talking about number of teeth.... even on most pinion gears there is no mention to pitch ...... for a newbie it's a real struggle ....
Yeah and they switch them up. 48p 32p mod.8 mod 1 and in the larger vehicles mod 1.5. It’s something you will just have to learn and recognize when you see it
@@ExocagedRC That's a lower gear ratio than what the stock sport comes with... 17p 39s iirc. which is a 2.3:1 ratio vs the 2.8:1 of his 16p 45s. a 12p 45s would be 3.75:1 fwiw

I like the 12t in all honesty. The wheel speed is a good thing when out on the local sandy trails. But I have a Holmes 21t in it now with a 10t pinion for another video I’m working on for tomorrow. The 21t is smoother than the 12t but I like to jump stuff. LoL. As far as a tug o war goes, usually the heavier truck wins so long as it has sufficient power.
@@ExocagedRC i totally got your point, i've seen you jump over stuff quiet often during crawling, and found its a very useful method. i bought HW1080 and holmes 21t for my trx4, just waiting to be replaced, currently running the stock ESC with rc4wd 45t motor, and is super smooth
@@papachill oh man you're going to love the 1080/21t combo. Turn the PWM up so you can't hear it and you'll love it even more. In the video scheduled for tomorrow I'm running that exact combo with a 10t pinion because it needs to be slow.

I am waiting for the new AXE550 3300KV motor (HRP just needs to add it to the Online Catalogue and its already Pre-ordered). So I got a couple of Spur Gears before hand but totally forgot about the slipper pad I thought it was going to be solid pads just like in my B6.1 so I ignored that hahaha thanks for remind me that glued slipper pads still exist and traxxas selling them exclusively on the rebuild kit at 12 bucks is greedy as hell. I will buy the slipper clutch eliminator instead because I believe I will be able to stall even the AXE550 anyway... The stock sport 1 speed is the Low Gear in the 2-speed TRX4 right? So with 45/12 you are running the 59:1 ratio?

I have an HRP Dealer so I check almost everyday for the SKU.. A Facebook video of it popped in today in my news feed, Its on a TRX4 and if the video is true then the Motor will have an obscene amount of torque! Yeah that’s badass! Another tester I have talked with said it was super strong. I asked if it was castle strong and he couldn’t say. If I can get one in time it will go in my upcoming C3 build.
@@ExocagedRC Supposedly hobbywing is marketing the AXE 550 motor for "2.2 Rigs" but it seems that it behaves somewhat as a "true 540 can" ala Castle/Tekin due to the weird staggered stator smaller size... That is why folks are able to easily stall the 540 cans as they have undersized stators that make them feel more of a 380 motor in torque. In the TRX4 due to its super low 1st gear ratio in the 2 speed (65:1) it really shines! that is why a lot of folks have trouble stalling the AXE540 on it but can easily stall them on Axial Rigs with the higher 35:1 ratio on those... I personally have only stalled my 2300KV AXE on 2nd gear but I never had an issue on 1st gear.
Chad Ashton this is to get a slower crawl ratio. Using the larger spur gear I can also use a smaller pinion. It shows the truck down for better crawling control.

I wanna get the castle slate for my trx4 Land Rover, I’m gonna run 3s. Should I stick with the 11t pinion or go to a 10 or 9. I wanna be able to crawl but objectively I want a mile or two an hour faster.
Matthew Fojtik go for the Trailmaster 550 sport 21t or the Crawlmaster 550 sport 12t. Also consider upgrading to the Hobbywing 1080 esc. Check my channel I have recently done a video of the 12t vs the stock motor in a trx.

Matthew Fojtik the 21t Trailmaster is a 3-slot motor. The 12t Crawlmaster is a 5-slot. The 12t is almost the same rpm as the 21t but smoother on startup.
I'd like to know the "Jack-holes" that give the thumbs-down. They need to get a life. Makes you think they are the lazy ones that want a paycheck from RUclips and live off the government and think you are taking revenue from them. Or they probably live in their moms basement. I have one person giving thumbs-down regardless of content....and that's my thought.

I was able to get my clutch pad out and installed on to the 45t spur relatively easy without totally screwing them up🤠

Yes the sport trans is low gear. I’m anxiously awaiting the 3300kv axe as well. Rumor has it they updated the esc so I want it even more now. LoL.

Yep I love the 2300 in my new C2 comp truck but wish it had a bit more speed. I am using the stock pinion though.

It’s not an issue really and although I do make a few bucks it’s no where near enough to even cover lunch for a month but it helps.
