I kind of wish that Freddy was always glitched from the start and he was just playing the long con.
Imagine instead of the Burntrap ending, we instead get Possessed Glamrock Freddy.
Originally Vanessa was meant to be an ally of Gregory's and Freddy was meant to be possessed by Afton.
The upgrades of Monty, Chica and Roxy are what led them to being susceptible to being glitched. Freddy has no upgrade of his own. Or does he?
What if I told you the upgrade of Freddy's is his stomach hatch?
I have a theory that Freddy had a history of killing kids like the other Glamrocks. Vanessa's cut line suggests it
"I don't know how to fix it. What am I going to do? If Freddy was working, we'd have him by now."
As for how the upgrade would amplify his worst personality traits? Basically, Freddy would be like a Silent Hill antagonist.
Freddy would be the most intelligent of the band and most advanced model of Freddy Fazbear. In cut content, Freddy says "I hear what some guests say about me. Bad things happened in the past. But that was not me. Those were older models-Flawed. I would never hurt anyone. You know that. Right?"
His insecurities would be fearing he's becoming like the defective models of old and his worst trait is being a manipulative bastard.
In the case he's corrupted, I hypothesize that it would involve him using this, such as luring the player into trusting him and when Gregory is at his most vulnerable and all the other Glamrocks are shattered and we go to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza Place. There's nothing. No Burntrap. No Shattered Glamrocks. No Blob No one. Just Gregory and Freddy.
Then Vanessa tries to communicate with Gregory on the Fazwatch "GREGORY, RUN AWAY FROM FREDDY, HE'S GLIT- and she's cut off.(Sidenote, Vanessa's cut line of "I have the second key could've tied into Vanessa freeing herself from Afton's control to be Gregory's ally)
Afton played the longcon. Freddy is not fully glitched. So what will it take to get him under his control? The upgrades. The upgrades of Monty, Chica and Roxy are what led them to being susceptible to being glitched. Freddy's upgrade used to be enough, but his incident on stage ruined Afton's plan, so he had to wait until Gregory would be desperate enough to upgrade Freddy with the other Glamrock's parts and there Glitchtrap would work his magic. Tell Freddy "he killed them. Chica, Monty and Roxy are broken because of Gregory"
Gregory would find discarded notes in the pizzaplace. About Freddy's chest upgrade. Then incidents about missing children being last seen entering Freddy's stomach hatch. One more note that says "Freddy has a disturbing pattern of finding lost and scared children, lull them into a false sense of security and then they just disappear."
    Suddenly, Freddy's eyes turn red.
“G-Gregory. D-don't be af-fraid. I-it's just a g-g-glitch. Gregory? Come back. I thought we were friends. Where are you? Why do you hide? Where are you Gregory? Supersta-sta-sta-sta-ory? Where are you supersta-sta-sta-sta-3rr0R…Don't run away from me.“
Gregory would then be forced to shatter Freddy. After being Shattered, we would then get a chase between the Shattered Glamrocks and Gregory. Gregory would then be forced to flee the Pizzaplace. If done so in the correct amount of time, Freddy and the Glamrocks burn with the Pizzaplace and Vanessa saves Gregory. If not done in time. Freddy and the Glamrocks surround Gregory and the last thing Gregory sees is what we'd see as the Halloween sale image.(nice troll move, SW)

They did a great job of setting up a plot line where freddy gets more corrupted with every upgrade too, but just never follow through on it. Adding the upgrades feels genuinely creepy and wrong on a first playthrough, especially Chica’s with the voice, but then there are no consequences so it becomes just another menial task you have to do to get through the game
Love the idea of freddy’s upgrade being the stomach hatch all along though. Super creepy, and it calls back to the older games in a fun way

That exactly the kind of detail that would've made it so good! Part of good horror is always about removing the viewer/players sense of safety. People felt like this game wasn't scary in no small part because of how effective Freddy was at being a safe and protective ally that, in the end, was stronger than all of the other animatronics. Imagine getting through 3/4 of the game as it is, thinking "It's not that scary because Freddy is so OP" and then having the loving papa bear torn apart before your eyes. Not only do you realize that your only safe place (Freddy's stomach hatch) is now gone, but you also have that dawning realization that the OP Freddy that's made the game sooooo easy up until now... is now hunting you down, all while calling you by the name that you used to make you feel so safe. That's terrifying! It would've been an extremely well executed and terrifying version of "your biggest sense of safety suddenly becoming your biggest threat" and it will forever be a tragedy that this is not the story we ended up with

Or like you said he could have his own plan to escape, which even if it’s like sister location would make perfect sense, since like the funtimes the Glamrocks show very sentient qualities, and naturally being locked up all day isn’t something any sentient would care much for. And while the idea of animatronics with a sense of self trying and succeeding to break out of their facility would be shared, what they do with their new freedom could be different, like instead of sewer dwelling for like 36ish years, Glam Freddy could do something else, which could work as a basis for the next game.

I feel like in a lot of ways Security Breach was neutered of the horror element and even though I do have a soft spot for the characters there is no denying that shattered Freddy would've been an absolutely amazing plot point that could've....maybe not SAVED the game, but done a lot of good for its reception. For example having an ending where at the very last minute shattered Freddy is able to break through the control of the virus and save Gregory but in the process sacrificing himself could've been incredibly impactful. More so than the 'run away in the cave we're on a hill now??????' ending :P I guess I just see so much potential in Security Breach and I wanted to see it succeed.

In other news Gregory having Vanny “”disassembled”” by the staff bots in that one ending is grizzly af even if it’s off screen. Only other deaths that compare in the series are the Springlock failure on William Afton and maybe Mike getting his innards ripped out and getting stuffed back up like a friggin’ turkey.

I think what would’ve worked with Shattered Freddy, while keeping the Afton ending intact, is giving the player the choice to either destroy Freddy or attempt to save him, leading to an encounter where Gregory tries his hardest not to destroy freddy while dodging attacks from a rampaging Ursine, (Unlike the other animtronics who Gregory has no remorse about destroying, by the time this happens in the story Gregory really bonded with Freddy) if you go the easy route of destroying freddy.. you get the bad ending, Gregory escapes the pizzaplex in tears about what he just did before Vanny finds him and presumably kills him. If you manage to save Freddy, he’s horrified about what he almost did to Gregory, and realizes that the only way to stop this is to get to the source of the problem, which he now knows where it is due to his possession. It would feel great for both characters to have a darkest hour and give them a reason to go to the Afton ending because of what happened.

One of the biggest untapped potential in Security Breach, in my opinion, was the animatronics actually being people. Like, Freddy's always worrying about his friends to Greggory and just seeing everyone all shattered and not connecting the dots. It would have been neat to have some sort of scene where he at least talks to him about it, not necessarily betraying him over it. Plus, there was that line about Freddy getting his shell slapped on a new endo. It might have been neat to see him with what's basically his entire identity stripped from him, with some imposter wearing his skin.

Even if we couldn’t have shattered Freddy, that doesn’t mean that Gregory’s emotional arc couldn’t be with someone else. The twist of Freddy betraying Gregory could’ve fitted perfectly with Vanessa. Instead of Gregory and Vanessa being strangers, they’re related, which also provides an explanation of why Gregory is at the pizzaplex. Vanessa is the security guard at the pizzaplex and unfortunately, couldn’t get a babysitter for Gregory. So she had to bring him along. Instead of Vanessa randomly locking Gregory up in the middle of the game, it happens during the beginning. Gregory is excited to come to the pizzaplex, only to get disappointed when he gets locked up in lost and found. Vanessa tells him that it’s for his safety, but of course he doesn’t believe her. Gregory escapes through the vents and happens to catch a glimpse of Vanny, which makes Gregory want to explore the pizzaplex even further. By chance he ends up in Freddy’s room. However, around the same time, Vanessa returns to lost and found and is furious when she finds out that Gregory escaped. This could explain why Vanessa is trying desperately to look for him throughout the game, while also being a bit aggressive. Not only did Gregory disobey her, but the stress of turning into Vanny, and catching Gregory as Vanny adds onto this.
It also gives motivation of why Gregory wants to confront Vanny, after he realizes that Vanny and Vanessa are the same, he figures out that Vanessa is being controlled and wants to save her, because she is his only family. I feel like Vanessa being related to Gregory in some way could’ve been great story potential and fits with security breaches’ theme with family connection, like Gregory and Freddy.

I love that Freddy was so helpful and kind, but I agree that a Shattered Freddy would have been a really interesting thing to do with him, especially keeping the idea of him fighting Afton off, leaving Shattered Freddy with 2 endings- the one where he does completely fight off Afton, and the one where he does not. I wish we could have gotten the SB they wanted us to have.

I remember how in a game theory video regarding how fan theories online could be causing game devs to change their games, MatPat mentioned how a certain dev team emailed him after the GT theories came out about their game, “jokingly” asking if he had a mole inside the team. He was excited because it meant the community was possibly on the right track.
He then followed this up with mentioning how a few months later when the game came out it was completely different and felt incredibly rushed and broken. How it felt like the original story had been scrapped in favor of attempting to somehow “surprise” the fans. He expressed how irritating it was to see devs clearly trying to prioritize shock value over just letting the community get something right.
Now, he didn’t specify exactly who it was in that video- and to be fair there were a handful of candidates it could possibly have been. But, in an off handed comment, he let it slip on a GTLive video not even related to fnaf that it was, in fact, Steel Wool had been the ones who emailed him.
That only makes the plot of security breach that we got even more frustrating because it confirms the fact that there was a story there that made sense, a story that was interesting and fit into what the previous games were leading us to believe. And Steel Wool chose to change it last minute. That’s why when you play Security Breach it feels like it was a completely different game at one point, because it was. That’s why all those voice lines were cut and why, if you go to the main stage on the final countdown before even attempting to get out of the pizzaplex and get killed by Moon, a new mission pops up called “Plan A”. There was something else there to the game - of course that’s only one example but it’s one that I don’t hear a lot of people talk about.
It seems that Steel Wool - in an attempt to not have their game seem “predictable” or “boring” because so many fan theories were far too close to the original plot - scrapped everything and quickly tried to put something else together, and the whole game suffered for it. Some of their mistakes were indeed things like making too much content for their studio to handle - like apparently the third floor of the pizzaplex was an accident that their art team modeled completely without knowing - but so much was just trying to recreate the surprises Scott was able to pull in the earlier games. It sucks that we lost out on content like this.
That’s the true tragedy of Security Breach: the loss of potential.

I mean, I just remember someone saying that about Steel Wool.
But it was from a semi credible youtuber ( that I couldn't remember the name of even if my life depended on it ) and with some logic behind it. Scott probably had enough money for the game to stay in development for a longer time and enough money to keep outside influence from any investors to a minimum. They probably could've released a better game.
But on the other hand, if they took more time, there's a high chance that even more of the things in the game would be scrapped. I mean, there already was a lot, who knows if they wouldn't get more ideas again and take the game apart to fit those ideas in just to deliver an even more broken game.
And yeah, I can agree that a VR studio making a first person horror stealth game does sound like it would have been a better idea to just get a different studio to make it.

When it comes to the GGY story, I don’t necessarily think of Gregory as the next villain. I see it as this child being used by Afton. And he’’s unaware of it by the time he’s actually himself again by SB. Like that’s so interesting! But the problem comes in when.. it’s not really relevant in the plot of the game. And we don’t really find this out at all. There was nothing that leads to it.
With what you’re saying on shattered Freddy, that definitely would’ve turned the tide of the reception of SB. And the idea of Freddy turning on ( not intentionally) on Gregory is heart wrenching. But it didn’t pan out as we would’ve liked. And I won't lie and say that I'm not sad about it. 😭
The way SB came out truly did do its story a disservice. Cause we might never know what story we could’ve gotten. It’s honestly pretty sad. But it is what it is now. I just hope this is just more of reason for the FNAF team to improve on what happened with SB. Besides the whole Freddy thing here.
But besides that, great video. It was as insightful as always!

i personally think that the virus should have had a sort of slow start. After freddy comes out of safe mode in the beginning he says that he feels that something is wrong with him and that he doesn't feel right, but he pushes that away because a child's safety is more important, like what his programming says. I think this would make it more heartbreaking to see that freddy was putting off his health and eventual mind control off to keep gregory safe. Especially with the upgrades that gregory puts in freddy, it would make it extremely saddening but also terrifying to think that freddy would come after you but also sad because you've spent so much time with him and now he's going to kill you. • @ForgottenFafnir
    @ForgottenFafnir Год назад +27

I remember posting my take in a different YT video discussing cut content and what Security Breach could've been. I think it's just as relevant here.
First off, we bring back 'Nights', with Gregory attempting to figure out what's going on with the Pizzaplex, and as a result taking place in different areas as he investigates deeper into the Pizzaplex and its secrets. I say nights but really it's just 7 different acts over the course of 2/3 nights. Doesn't seem realistic for all this to occur over the course of 6 hours at least.
'Night 1' is pretty much the same, Gregory attempting to escape the animatronics hunting him down, before getting caught by Vannessa and taken into the Playcenter, with her not believing his words about the animatronics trying to harm him, which then plays out as normal, but instead of Sun calling the animatronics, they've come on their own, expecting you to be inside as they throw open the doors, barely missing you escape with the help of Freddy.
Night 2 has us play as Vanessa trying to track down who she thinks is responsible for the tampering of the animatronics, finding Gregory and locking him in the security room this time Gregory tries to warn her that something is off with the animatronics, but she ignores him, playing it off as a kids imagination, or just an excuse to get out of trouble. So, she heads to the security office to check on the security cameras, but on the way she hears Vanny's voice, before suddenly blacking out. Then the perspective shifts back to Gregory, and it's the same as it was in 2 PM, but without the Vannessa chat since she's well... not capable of doing so now. We manage to escape through the vents, and have to escape back to one of our hideouts without being spotted by the animatronics.
Nights 3 and 4 would be mostly the same as the base game, sneaking around, finding out more about the disappearances, having Freddy get broken, and then trying to track down parts to repair him with. During this time we get a message from Vannessa saying she believes us finally. She saw the footage of what occured on Night 2, and knows we aren't the culprit, but the target, and says she'll try and help us. We encounter Chica and get into a fight, ending with her getting crushed, this time in self defense, but also we hear her crying out in pain, and this time, she doesn't survive.
However we still get the sewer sequence. With who? The Prototype Endos. They'll be located here instead. Discarded, falling apart. Angry. With the lack of light and piles of junk the only true way to spot them is via their red eyes. It turns out after being in Night vision mode for so long, they can't stand the light, which Gregory will use to his advantage to escape. He'll head back to parts and services to find Freddy, but get Jumpscared by Roxy, only to be saved last minute by Vannessa, who manages to temporarily disable them using her Tazer. She escorts us to Freddy, and helps us repair him. After repairing him, Freddy says 'he feels a little off, but it's probably due to the new parts.' He asks Gregory where he got them from, and we get the same lie sequence involving Chica 'being alright'. This time it's framed more like Gregory being in denial about 'killing' her. He's just a kid after all.
Night 5 is where things change. This takes place straight after Night 4. Vannessa will be trying to help Gregory escape since 'this place isn't safe for a kid', telling him about the Security Badges and where to locate them, the closest one being the Security room near Roxy Raceway. What follows is the same as the Head Fetch Quest, with us restarting the power while having to dodge the animatronics and Music Man.
The next Security Badge is in the room up above Monty Golf, which Gregory can access through a vent from Mazercise. Again this follows the same story beats as the Monty Quest, but with a twist. For Mazercise you'll be playing as Vannessa at the controls, moving the walls around to get Gregory through while also blocking off the Animatronics closing in. Then Gregory gets the security badge, and encounters Monty. Vannessa tells Gregory how to defeat him using the Bucket. Monty still gets his lower half bisected off, and falls, but the impact of the bucket causes the walkway to collapse, and Gregory lands in one of the ponds below. Now you need to navigate your way out of the golf course while the still active Monty tries to find you, his new destroyed form hard to spot in the foliage and other decorations, but the same goes for you. You must navigate past security bots patrolling the pathways, while also keeping an eye out for movement in nearby bushes. Once you escape Freddy will be waiting for you. However Freddy is acting... off. He's not acting like his normal goofy innocent self. His friendliness feels fake. His movement lifeless and robotic. Figuring something is wrong, Gregory flees, while Freddy yells out for him to 'get back here!'. Gregory escapes, before the night ends.
Night 6 has you trying to collect the last couple security badges, while having to hide from Freddy, who is now actively hunting you down, in a twisted game of hide and seek. Unused Voicelines imply something like this would've occured in the original game, and it was just too good to not use here. Once you collect all the security badges, you have the ability to bypass the security shutters and leave. But just as you're about to leave you get a message from Vannessa saying she's figured out what's happened to the Animatronics, and that she can save Freddy. You'll need to meet her in her Security Office and bring the security badges with you. The Animatronics won't be able to get them due to it being marked as 'off limits'. Leaving plays the normal bad ending, but if you choose to stay...
It's strangely easy to make your way across the Pizzaplex. Outside of the security bots, there doesn't seem to be anyone attempting to capture you. If you can make your way through without triggering one you won't even see a single animatronic.
Vanessa explains what's going on as soon as you arrive at the security office, explaining that she's discovered a secret area below the Pizzaplex. Something the Fazbear Company tried to bury, right below this very area. There's a strange signal coming from there. It must be the source of whatever is controlling the animatronics. But then her voice and words start to become unstable as she questions how it's possible for someone to access the programs of the animatronics. After all, she's the only one capable of such a thing, and she didn't do it, right? She starts to ramble, talking about blackouts and how she'd wake up in a different location. And then... silence. Vanny is in control now. She claps her hands as Freddy comes in through the door and restrains you. She explains that she was the one behind Freddy's change. During the stage performance, he was supposed to have been hacked, much like the others, but instead he suffered a glitch that somehow freed him of 'their' control. But, then you came along, and gave her the perfect chance to 'fix' him, free access to his internals. All it took was installing the corrupted drives and parts of the other animatronics to bring him to her side, like all the rest. 'The Game is over'. Or... it would've been. The same 'Glitch' occurs within Freddy, as he manages to break out of her control and run off with you as you make your way into the Lazertag Maze, while Vanny Chases after you. You have to make your way through the maze while trying to avoid Vanny, who toys with you all the while. You eventually figure out where the entrance is, breaking through a gate marked off limits and descending down into the unknown, while Vanny pursues.
Night 7 involves Gregory and Freddy (who is struggling to resist the signal as they get closer to the source) making their way into the fake Pizza Restaurant of Pizza Simulator. Having to navigate its charred and destroyed remains, the vents and maze-like corridors, attempting to get the security doors open and access the office while Vanny attempts to stop you. While doing so you get attacked by Roxy, and Freddy, his safety protocols disabled by the virus, ends up attacking her to protect Gregory, accidentally leaving her broken and disabled. Gregory and Freddy reach the source of the Virus, a computer containing Glitchtrap, connected to the Pizzaplex Network. But before they can disable it, Vanny attacks. But a human in a bunny costume is no match for a animatronic bear. As a final resort, Vanny reactivates the 'Final Protocol' seem at the end of PS, to burn you, Freddy, and all evidence of her tampering to the ground. You flee, while she chuckles manically from her spot in the office. It's now that you encounter Roxy, blind, and without the virus disabled, still hunting for you. Same as in the original game, you trick her into helping you escape by breaking wooden boards or knocking down doors. A cutscene similar to the Afton Ending plays, with the duo escaping as the building collapses, also taking the lazertag maze down with it. Freddy collapses from a mixture of damage, lack of power, and exhaustion from fighting off the virus. As the smoke clears, Vanny's arm breaks out from the rubble, the Bunny Costumed antagonist staggering towards Gregory, before hugging him tightly, taking off her mask to reveal its Vannessa. Again the fire has purged Afton from this world, freeing her mind along with the other animatronics. But now she'll have to explain everything when people show up
The screen cuts to black , before fading to a image of Vannessa's Desk, with the classic pink slip and other Freddy's memorabilia, a VR headset off to one side, as the camera zooms in on a photo. A photo of her, Gregory, and Freddy sitting on a hill eating Ice cream. Then the credits roll.

I agree! It really felt to me like the whole game was building up to Freddy eventually turning against Gregory (whether while under Vanny's control or not). There are so many story beats and voice line deliveries that seemed to hint at it. And him becoming corrupted as you upgrade him would also make sense, since the lore of the series places TONS of importance on animatronic pieces and endos having the soul bits (if possession is still relevant but at this point Steel Wool seems to want to abandon the supernatural and go more sci-fi).
I wish they had just postponed the game long enough to animate a shattered Freddy ending. They almost did. The Vanny ending could've been exactly the same just with Shattered Freddy's presence, a short cutscene of Greg running/hiding from all 4, and then it plays out like usual.
I also like the theory that Gregory and Freddy got smooshed in the true ending. Shocked I haven't heard others theorize about it tbh. But you're right; idk if Steel Wool has the gonads to commit to it lol.

This is going to be very long, so please hear this out:
I was going to say that I don't think it's too late to add this. I mean, I agree with Gregory becoming... delusional in his anger through trauma. You have William, who's son died. Vanessa who's seen her mother die. And now Gregory who sees the one person there for him become shattered. William finally broke the only two good characters: Gregory and Freddy.
If you're playing as a kid for DLC, it makes perfect sense for another kid to lure you. Just how William uses his bunny suit to lure you in. As for Freddy becoming shattered. I mean, in the DLC, all of them will be shattered. I think that it'd be perfect that Freddy is now evil, and Chica would be the ally.
You see Chica just standing there. Also, she's the only other animatronic that seems to care about her fellow band members, checking on Freddy and keeping a bowling ball in memory of Bonnie. You hear her crying, and she's more glitchy than the other two. She would have to be more forced to comply with the hack, as Roxy and Monty both already have a motive to attack Gregory and Chica doesn't.
Sorry this is long, bear with me:
Roxy and Monty are both replacements for Glamrock Foxy (he is shown in DLC trailer) and Glamrock Bonnie. The only "original" characters is Freddy and Chica. The only ones who seem to care. Bonnie seemed to also be portrayed as caring, hints why William is so eager to destroy him. Chica is also a very important character in the FNAF lore. She's one of the first to die in the hands of William, she has her own novella solely about her journey from a human child to an animatronic.
It seems like the DLC main character is a little girl. And from the DLC tailers, the original Glamrocks are coming back. AND, part of it shows CHICA and FREDDY. The ONLY ONES to show any empathy and fighting the influence of William Afton!
So, why did I write this hellishly long comment that I doubt anyone will read? Well, as I said, I don't think it's too late for what the video says. Freddy is smashed and hacked. The only other animatronic that seems to have good in them is Glamrock Chica. So, I think it's a perfect follow up theme that Gregory joins Vanny and William (as Vanny does kidnap him in one of the endings) through his anger and trauma (like Vanessa and William have experienced). Freddy will now hunt the female child. and Chica, the only other animatronic that seems to carry empathy becomes out new ally. And lastly, the original Glamrocks come back to see Chica smashed and their valued friend, Freddy, shattered and hacked.

i like the idea of freddy actually being good, like the “soul” of the robot is good, but that getting overpowered by aftons programming. i think it would’ve been a cooler idea to have shattered freddy than just afton coming back. while you’re playing the game, you’re suspicious at first that freddy is being kind bc, yknow, it’s a fnaf game. but then you start to get comfortable around him and you start trusting him, and then all of a sudden that thought in the back of your brain saying “don’t trust freddy” is right. and also like you pointed out, this would’ve given motive for gregory to be “evil”. i have a theory that scott cawthon just doesn’t understand that pretty much everything anyone does has a motive. ESPECIALLY murder. afton having no canon motive has always bugged me, and it seems like scott has just been following that trend

They should have kept shattered freddy. It's such a cool concept that Gregory's "Upgrades" to Freddy, caused the Feral/angry and shattered animatronics to tear apart their friend in search for the part that was stolen from them. Also Minor Greggy-boy thoughts: Gregory always walks a fine edge between "realistic child character" and... "not realistic at all there's something wrong with him" .... And like... Idk... I weirdly like both sides of his character on that... but I feel it wasn't consistent, cause I think certain things were changed in development, so some sections you have an early version of Gregory who is quiet, and scared, and then other sections he flips on a dime to sassy and annoyed and a manipulative shit lol (but manipulative/lying as a child would)

Wholeheartedly agree with Shattered Freddy being the gutpunch all the build up of safety and security this game NEEDED to stick the landing AS a horror title.
TBH, the unfinished portions of the Pizzaplex, the signs of a scrapped and reworked storyline, and the BRILLIANT early game character development we get to see screams to me that What Could Have Been was... well, Shattered By Crunch.
Someone said "Deadline's Next Month" without consulting anyone who ACTUALLY KNEW how much longer they needed to finish, and came with a list of If You Don't Remove X, Y, and Z your game is gonna get an M rating and have its sale to people under 16 years old resticted.
So now you gotta Finish The Game and Make A Laundry List Of Content Changes to secure a T rating from the ESRB. With the same resources you already had. And a Looming Deadline.
When devs need more time, they should get more time. If Security Breach had gotten a year more? GOD I wish I could play THAT game.
Crunch is the fault of bad management and cost cutting; resulting in impossible demands against a deadline that could not realiatically be reached.
I hope management improves. This team clearly is SKILLED, and when it works? IT *WORKS!* But that means someone over at Steel Wool / whatever management layer exists needs to show up to make a GAME, not a PRODUCT. Otherwise we'll probably get more endings that land with a *thud.*

A shattred GlamRock Freddy chasing Gregory around the Pizza Plex with the intent to kill would of made a thrilling boss battle, akin to the DJ MM chase, but it's more haunting because Freddy's cracked voice begs you to come back to him. We can ride only in Freddy, Chica can use her voice box to make the others back off, Monty can fight them with his claws, and Roxy can spot things and guide Gregory to safety (for Chica, Monty, and Roxy we can switch between being able to control them Vs Gregory who would also be controlled by the game.

I'm working on a SB rewrite, and major thing I did was to have all the animatronics start friendly. Basically use Sun and Moons mechanic for them so they would still be threats at points. The main gist is that the story starts out as a Nancy Drew like mystery. With Gregory staying after hours because of rumors he heard. Through out the game by interacting with the animatronics and even Vanessa. He would find out more about the plex. Then the game would slowy merge from Mystery Comedy to Tradedgy Horror. All the while the animatronics would become more and more corrupt. To a point where they never turn back again, or the glitch puppeting them is smart and can act friendly. Forcing Gregory to shatter them when he's put into peril. Eventually making Gregory reliant on the one ally who has been immune. Freddy.
Now originally I wanted to challenge myself to make it so that it could still work with the Ruins DLC. (Which is why I still have is use afton and the blob despite hating them). Mainly turn SB ending from a sharp left turn. To something that was actually foreshadowed and a satisfying end to the mystery. With Ruins being the epilogue.
Now I'm about to say f*ck that and make Freddy shattered at the end too. Cause to start the game with a whole cast of friends. Then end it utterly scared and alone.
That would make the tradegy of the ending hit even harder.
You ate right. Freddy as a suprise villian hits hard because we spent most of the game trusting him. Being with him. I've seen people admit that even though they hated the idea of Freddy being an ally. He did grow on them and became one of the few parts of SB they liked. I think it would be funny if the people wishing for a more traditional FNAF horror. Had this monkey paw wish happen. Where they do get that old FNAF horror of Freddy being a threat. At the cost of a character they had learned to love.

    S. Freddy is probably the highest concept thing this franchise has seen since…Ennard, probably. It works on multiple levels, and it’s a wonderful demonstration of Cerebus Syndrome.
That’s a whole thing with Afton, isn’t it? The player rarely firsthand experiences how heartless he is. First time where we, as the player, experience on-site the repercussions of his monstrous actions and see how much damage he leaves in his wake. This…almost feels more fit for an RPG sort of plot twist, especially with using old bosses techniques that you used to use all the time against a less capable player character, causing you to hate the villain and feel for the characters more. An ACTUAL RPG based off these games that gave 0 fucks about lore would go hard, really.
If Robo-Gregory happens to be real, it may possibly be the dumbest thing this franchise has pulled since the FNAF 4 box.

The big problem I have with discussions of Shattered Freddy is the assumption that it would "be better". Bear Dad is a huge part of the experience, and it would have required an enormous amount of time, material, and luck to make taking him away at all satisfying to most players. You can't just have a "scary twist"; large changes like that need to be engaging on their own, and just throwing out dual protector dynamic would have lowered the narrative stakes.
It definitely _could_ work (my ideal would be it leading into the Parts and Services section), but "could" is often not strong enough when you only have so much time and space for your story.

She picked him out from all of the other candidates and abducted him off site to avoid unwanted scrutiny. Stashed him away in the pizzaplex, awaiting an appropriate time to release him in order to hunt him down to complete her initiation without interference or witnesses.

I love the context of the fatal flaws for each of the characters, and the concept of "constructing a monster". The game made it very clear that the upgrades given to the other animatronics were an element in their corruption, and it seemed clear throughout the game that giving them to Freddy would likely make him corrupted too. He gets uglier and dirtier as the night progresses, clearly leading to something. And then it just... ends? He's just his same old self but kinda uglier? It's a complete fumble
