    I'm a 50 year old Patriot fan, but man there was something about those 80's Jets I couldn't dislike. I'm sure it was the players/uniforms that hooked me at ages 8-16

      That’s because the jets had only two identity defining eras. The 60s and the 80s. The 90s 2000s and 2010s they only had a short identity moment with players and then unfortunately suffered from losses. In my opinion the 80s jets were the closest team to winning a super bowl other then 1968.

    Pat leahy was an excellent kicker for the jets from 1974-1991

      @@je9212 they got to the playoffs as a wild card all of those years. The Jets with all of that firepower couldn't even win 1 division title in what was a fairly weak AFC east division.

    Ken Obrien is one of the most underrated QB in history. jets had a great offense these years. Two great WR walker and toon. RB freeman McNeil And mickey Shuler at TE. The problem was their offensive line was not great

    The Jets had a great team that year..They beat themselves in a bad game against the Gaytriots..they had a good chance at the Superbowl...haven't been the same since except for 1998 and 2002..

      In 2001 they had a good team too. They played the Raiders tough in the playoff loss.

    If Giants stadium has today's turf, the Jets go to the Super Bowl during the '80's. It always seemed every year they get the injury bug.

      Injuries have always been the excuse used by the Jets. Every team gets Injuries. The Giants won 2 super bowls playing on that same astro turf.

      Al toon was top 5 wide receiver in nfl during 5 year span but he was never better than jerry rice

      J. E. I’m a Jets fan and loved Toon, didn’t mean to disparage him. Injuries, especially concussions ruined his career and he retire after 8 years but he was never JR level elite.

      @@conlanding O'brien was a flawed quarterback. When his receivers were covered he would just stand in the pocket until he was sacked. A good quarterback would either run with the ball or throw the ball away to avoid getting sacked when his receives were not open.

      If his line would have been a little more tougher they could’ve went to the pinnacle. In 85 and 86 O’Brien had a killer passer rating. Injuries took him down. Damn shame. I am a southern boy Jets fan. I hope this year they can make some noise
