  • My orange creamsicle Kool Aid pie recipe is easy and delicious! With just a few ingredients you can make this no bake icebox pie that tastes just like an orange creamsicle. If you're looking for the perfect dessert for your Memorial Day barbecue, or any summer event, definitely give this one a try.
    The filling for this pie is super simple: Cool Whip, sweetened condensed milk, orange Kool Aid, orange juice, and orange zest. Although I used Minneola tangerine juice and zest, any type of orange would work. I added some food coloring to give this a bright orange color, but that isn't necessary.
    To make the filling, mix all of the ingredients together--except for the Cool Whip. When adding the Cool Whip, remember to fold it in instead of stirring: that will help keep the whipped topping from deflating.
    Once the pie filling is done, simply pour it into an 8-inch prepared graham cracker pie crust, smooth it out, and chill for 8 hours. Although you could definitely use a storebought graham cracker crust, I highly suggest making your own. If you do use a storebought crust, dusting the bottom with a bit of cinnamon would help make it taste more homemade.
    This orange creamsicle Kool Aid pie was fantastic. Honestly, I was expecting this to be more of an "orange Kool-Aid pie," but the creaminess from the Cool Whip came though strong enough to turn this into a creamsicle pie--which wasn't a bad thing.
    I know that use Kool Aid to make a no bake icebox pie sounds odd, but it's actually genius. On its own, Kool Aid doesn't have any sugar, so adding it to sweetened condensed milk and Cool Whip allows you to add flavor without making the pie filling too sweet.
    This pie was cool and refreshing, so it would be the perfect Memorial Day barbecue dessert...or for any summer barbecue, picnic, or other event. If you make my recipe, I know you'll love it!

    Orange Creamsicle Kool-Aid Pie Recipe
    1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
    1 8 oz tub Cool Whip or other whipped topping
    1 0.15 packet orange Kool-Aid (a small packet)
    1 teaspoon orange zest
    1 Tablespoons orange zest (I used Minneola tangerine juice and zest, but a navel orange would be fine)
    1/8 teaspoon salt
    6 drops red food coloring
    6 drops yellow food coloring
    1 9-inch graham cracker crust

    Hi Parnell!! I think making your own graham cracker crust is so much better. Kool Aid always reminds me of my childhood growing up in Ohio. And the creamsicle was always a popular treat from the ice cream truck. Love how you brought the two of them together into this yummy pie. Looks so cool and refreshing. Perfect for this summer!!

    Hi Parnell,
    What a terrific summertime pie to bring to a family cook out or BBQ.
    I’ll be happy to make this and follow your recipe. Lol, I want a slice right now.
    I think my friend will enjoy this too. I’m heading out to the grocery store tomorrow so I think I’ll double and be ready for two pies depending on the number of family that will be going t my sisters home.
    I don’t see why I couldn’t make the coconut pineapple cake and this creamsicle pie, 😋.
    You have a fantastic and blessed Memorial Day weekend. Have fun….
    Thanks a million for sharing……

    Did you add vanilla and I missed it? Maybe I'm confusing "creamsicle" with those little cups of vanilla ice cream w/ orange sherbet. In any case, can't wait to make this. Though I am tempted to make my own whipped topping.

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  2 года назад +2

      Hi, Lyndsey!
      The little cups are the same flavor, but I think that the original orange creamsicle ice cream bar is by Good Humor...but they're both great!
      No, no vanilla extract. The Cool Whip already has vanilla flavoring, so if you do make your own whipped topping, I would definitely add some.
      If you make this, I know you'll love it, so let me know what you think.

    Is there a Key Lime Flavor vid coming up?

    • @ParnellTheChef
      @ParnellTheChef  Год назад

      With Cool Whip, no, but I do have a no bake key lime cheesecake with Kool Aid. If you missed it, here's the link:
      ruclips.net/video/FKOj5tc3vN8/видео.html
      If you're looking for one just like this one, but Key Lime, I would follow this recipe but with the Lemon Lime Kool Aid. I would also use lime zest instead of orange, and lime juice instead of orange juice. I think you could "translate" the recipe over pretty easily--but I will have to add that to "the list" to do at some point...but until then, that's my recommendation.
      Thanks for asking!👍😀
