Good to see you put out a video and many thanks to your wife for filming it! That's a great idea to stabilize the shelf. Thanks for sharing another good tip!
glad my workshop is not the only one that needs cleaning lol, it was good to see a video again from you, your past work always inspired me to become a better wood worker your projects were always so nice clean and perfect. keep them coming greetings fro m the white and cold Norway
OMG !! Nick is organizing the shop !! It's a sad, sad day indeed !! The next thing you know he will be perpetually cleaning up the shop every evening before turning out the lights for the night. It will look like every other RUclips woodworker's shop that never gets used. Now I am truly alone in the world. lol
@@NickFerry Sheet metal scrap! The wire also allows easy suspensionof items. I put in a 4'x8' french cleat wall, and it works fine, but in the end I have to admid just more wire shelving would do as well. There's something to be said for simplicity. Or don't say it and just enjoy it!
Not gonna lie, after being subbed to your channel for some time, then you mentioning that you were not going to be posting as much (which you kept your word), I unsubscribed. THIS "slat wall" video was recommended to me. I saw that it was from your channel BUT I did not recognize "that guy" in the thumbnail. To my surprise, it was YOU. So after 3yrs of not seeing you (episode 90 was the last video I saw of yours), you look soooo different. You lost a lot of weight, I'm thinking about 150lbs and, now with you new hair style, you look like a badass mix of a biker from Sons of Anarchy and a Viking raider lol. Good to see you again. God bless
It’s too late/early for me to give this an adequate response, but you’ve probably noticed something few have - the weight loss, sure (thanks btw), but as well as my infrequent in posting as of late - there’s something to it, what it is I’m still working on but I think I’m close to depending on the perception of brightness through the chasm - one of the facets to that was my physical health - I appreciate your comment probably more than you realize
@@NickFerry You are part of a handful of early woodworking RUclipsrs that gave me the "if I can make this, so can you" mentally and why I'm in my shop making anything when I have even an extra 5min to spare. Sure, occasionally I get "woodworkers block" 😂 🤦♀️, but I'm sure it happens to everyone at least once and we just gotta step back and enjoy everything else life has to offer. Then after a reset, get back to it and enjoy this craft. Cheers boss. Just know there's at least 1 person (🙋🏻♀️ aside from your family) that thinks you're pretty awesome.
Back so soon?? Great. I thought for sure with that new physique you would only be wearing a Speedo and a pair of safety glasses. That's the only reason I tuned in. 😁😁 I admire and applaud your effort. Keep goin'. JimE
Just a thought. But I would have put an appropriate sized washer around the metal piece that would stop the dowel from splitting. You could even glue it to the bottom of the dowel with epoxy or CA glue. Just a thought.
Not a bad idea - I only had to make four of them and on the last one I figured out if I didn’t drill the hole as deep all the pressure was at the base of the hole and not splitting the end - that whole hindsight 2020 thing lol
I think the end of the dowel may split in time due to thr change of angle of the hook You could prevent it with ferrules, like the ones on chisel handles, maybe a piece of 1/2" copper pipe
TBH I think it would have bee fine without anything, the top will split before anything else. A 5 inchish just over 90 deg triangle screwed to the shelf hange would have been easier, better and faster all round. But hey, it's all fun to watch ideas.
Scrap wood is great for organizing the shop. Our makerspace has specific tool holders for everything so it gets put back (hopefully) and we can see when something is missing.
If it wasn’t for the T-Shirt, Channel name, and the quips I woodnay recognised you. Looking well dude. Now just between us…. You’re making room for a Harley ain’t ya ? 😉💪🤘

Let me first say, thanks for being on the ride that long - I hope you stick around because it could be a fun ride from here - and no worries that was my attempt at textual humor, i don’t translate well to print - as far as the pool heater that was a big no go from the budget department

Holy weight loss! Well done sir!
Thanks I’m down a little bit over 100# now - feeling pretty damn good about it too

Looking good. Glad to see you've made a couple of videos. Keep up the good work, weight loss and videos.
These quick shop organization wins are my favorite.

Hahaha - I doubt that will ever happen - if you can’t leave it messy at night, when can ya?
Now I know what you've up to
Weight loss and growing your hair out
Now we can get get back to your great woodworking videos
The more I see ideas for shelves, the gladder I am that I use simple wire shelves (wire collects little dust!).
I do like that they don’t gather dust but some smaller items fall through or you got to put down a thin substrate

They do make an aluminum channel to fit those slots in the slat wall panels.

the one that tips, drill a hole in the shelf and they could all sit on the base
That would mean I have to out it back in the same spot every time

Shhhhhh… quiet down in back
does that angle dangle still equal hair square?

I don’t want to

Party Boy?!
???
