Let me see if I guess his conclusion correctly: "time is money" is still true, these days it just means "attention/viewer retention is ads you can show people", which is why so many people make long-form content, and to make as much of it as possible it has to be low-effort, hence wasting your time 💀

Ok but its seriously so true. Its not just about ads either. I have seen countless videos pop up in my recommendations about some small petty drama from tiktok or instagram or whatever that could probably be summed up with a decent amount of detail in like 5-10 minutes. But these ones are 30+ minutes long. And I don't mean like a whole scandal or an entire person's life story, literally just petty drama. I saw a few and its mostly just raw, somwtimes uncut footage from relevant parties, and then the youtuber blabbing about their opinions and stories it reminded them of. I just dont care enough.
The original video is worth a watch at least for me.
They are now trying to put full ass as ads in 60$ games when you are loading something. Wait till they artificially slow the servers to a crawl and a simple map is 8 minutes long to load while theres ads playing. This video reminds me that company's can do this if not enough youtubers ralk abt this shit. Together, we can plummet their stocks if they do this. "If emotions were organisms, greed would be a parasite." -somewhere you might know.

as an adhd person myself i can say that i have fully watched these videos with full understanding of what is happening
I think it can be better with a community notes-like feature as an extention/pach, but this has most videos I see online anyway.
Usually the comments more or less serve this purpose. Sometimes I'll get bored and start scrolling the comments, and within a few minutes I know pretty much everything I wanted to know from the video

to give more details to Drews video for those who think 30 minutes it's too much: He breaks down this exact problem over different types of media, for instance he would bring up netflix documentaries who has a story equivalent to be told in 40 minutes, but they pad the runtime with meandering bullshit like '' insight of a guy who reads a lot of wikipedia''. He briefly talks about social media and how they're designed to rage-bait you, aswell as videogames who are all commited to be open world these days who will pad the gameplay time by adding tons of unneccessary side-quest or making you walk from point A to point B for ages...
