I like to dive to 25 metres for sound checks, especially if the weather is rough. I've never used the compass method to plot target distance over time, just guesstimated and eyeballed it. I look foreward to trying your method next time I play. My current game is the "onealex" supermod, based on GWX; a much more challenging and realistic version compared to unmodded SH3. I'm currently on involuntary "shore leave" as I am at home, recovering from major surgery. I am using this bunk time to view SH3 videos. Thanks for your work.
Can you please do a beginner tutorial that teaches how to use all the systems of the game with realism set to nearly max? I want to be able to use all the instruments. there are videos like yours but they are old and potato quality.
So basically the periscope did all the calculations except the speed and range? and here i was thinking i need to spend minutes calculating stuff..(although as a newbie i got 4 kills in 4 shots at once with full manual calculation even I dont know why-)
What mods are you using for the charts of knots, distance, and time traveled? Or is that the vanilla version of this game? If so i cant find them. Beginner here 😅
Hi there, the charts are a part of the GWX expansion, but are also available in most current modpacks you can find. Unfortunately the compass centered on your location and charts are unavailable in the base game :(
Hope you managed this but just in case anyone else finds this. It plays on windows 11 just fine. I have had some game crashes when on a long patrol but that could be my computer system (it's not the most stable) vanilla game loads and plays fine for hours. Not tried mods yet.

Wish the vanilla game came with those charts. The mods all seem to add more than I want in the game.
I really like your Silent Hunter III videos and they have been a great help for me.👍
Could you make a tutorial how to install mods to SH III??

Sure thing, I'm working on something right now please let me know what you think once it's posted! It will mainly be TDC-oriented.
Keep up the good work!

Do you plan on making anymore tutorials? I enjoyed this one

how to make the crew rest
Go to crew management (F7), then click and drag your crewmembers into bow or stern quarters
Great video. I'm hoping to get this to play on a windows 11 system.
