I think he's right about treating others how you want to be treated, but if they're an asshole/ don't have empathy, and they never change themselves: treat them how they treat you. Easiest way to teach a narcissist exactly how it feels. A sociopath or psychopath would gut you though, so it's best to be used only sparingly.

Not even close. You're comparing the guy selling peanuts at yankee stadium and chef Gordon Ramsey. JP is for psychology and sociology what Neil Degrass Tyson is for space. Since it's unproductive to leave it at that, I'll explain what that means.
Aristotle developed the first formal standards and concepts for what we know today as arguing. A more modern equivalent would be Sigmund Freud who really championed the idea of psychoanalysis. That's not what JP is doing, and it's not his intention either.
JP is presenting personal ideas which are supported by data and historical facts and challenging others to consider the possibility that they can think for themselves.

The moment I saw this video title it resonated with me 100% in terms of the sick sadism called "pranks" or "practical jokes" today.
Once upon a time, on, say, shows like Candid Camera, there were really imaginative practical jokes that exposed people to cognitive dissonance that didn't make them the victims of cruelty.
The humor was in their perplexity, in their innocent bewilderment or their incredulity. But the "victims" of the joke were not being personally attacked or abused. That took wit, creativity, imagination and, yes, human decency.
Today there is a crude, sadistic, wit-less, hamfisted trend in practical jokes for "entertainment," the kind of pranks spurred by an obsession with immediate, gratuitous sensational response no matter the price. Many of them border, or more than border, on criminality. Like for instance confining (this gets into the realm of kidnapping) an utterly terrified person in an elevator with a seeming corpse. The person is screaming, pounding on the door, crying, terrified to the point of hysteria. And this is...a joke. Only to fried consciences who'll do anything for a buck it is.
Or that creep of a talk show host who bribes parents to make their children think they ate all their Halloween candy, and to film the children's reactions and send it in for a big laugh.
These sick parents, desperate for their 15-seconds of fame, sacrifice their children on that altar with alacrity. And you see, in screaming obviousness to anybody who still has a SOUL, how these children are utterly shattered at the total betrayal and vanishing of trust as their parents, who've suddenly become people they don't know, blithely boast, with a chuckle and smirk and not the least indication of care, that they arbitrarily decided to gulp down all the candy the children collected on Halloween.
And the more the children stare aghast, and break down, sometimes are so speechless and devasted by the betrayal, the more we're supposed to laugh at what a riot of a joke this is.
It's sick, it's sadism, it's prostitution for fame, it's a fetid baseness of ambition and attachment to a cultural paradigm (cultural paradigms lead to things like, you know, the Holocaust) that signals a very deep, dark abyss where people used to have souls.

It starts with our politicians. The unfettered hatred one camp in our political class has for the other and its citizens, has become so malignant and their lust for power so intense,it’s now far beyond just a mild distaste for their differences and has now entered a vengeful phase with one side using its political might to attempt the character extermination of the other through use of the justice system.
This is a direct reflection of the moral degeneration and character disintegration so common in our devolving society.

This guy is brilliant and feel blessed to think he's become so popular and well-received. We need him and people alike, to help civilization get realigned in the right direction. It's fascinating to me that someone can think the thoughts he does, and execute them so clearly...and in front of millions of people. Years back before his passing, Rush Limbaugh helped me realize how difficult it really is for humans to clearly execute thoughts and in a way that are interesting enough for millions of people to actually want to listen. Not always east getting our point across, but guys like Jordan Peterson, Rush Limbaugh, Tucker Carlson, and yes, Donald Trump, all make it look easy.

This is exactly what I’ve been wondering, if play is dressing up anything else in the lightest tone possible or if it’s deeply physiological and now I see how it makes sense to think that play is deeper inherently. I know that if I want to enjoy life that I’ll need to learn that ASAP because otherwise any kind of fun can be regularly painful and then theres guilt so I’m grateful that when I clicked on this video i got real answers to what I needed or at least something to help me get where I need to get so thank you!

You learn to hear normal, and non-normal. Sometimes it is healthy to be quiet, but more often, they try to be quiet when they are doing something they know to be wrong. This interacts with your gut (or daimon of Socrates, or Holy Spirit of God), and you are a fool not to listen to that inner voice. Yes there are psycho's, and yes there are neglectful, but when an engaged and balanced parent hears something wrong, they should act on it.

When I heard that little girls aren't playing hand clapping games anymore that actually shook me.
You see when I was a wee lad in Australian primary school, all the girls would play clapping games and jump rope (the super long one where 2 people hold the rope and like as many girls as possible try to jump in the middle)
I remember I tried each of those a grand total of 1 time because I failed miserably and never wanted to do it again. (I did learn a lot later though because it is actually good hand eye coordination)
Fast forward to last year and I went on a language exchange program in Poland. I discovered the kids there didn't really get a lot of time to play.
So I taught as many as I could what little clapping game knowledge I had and they loved it! It was so cool to see them doing what girls should be doing (playing clapping games and laughing) and it was a bit surreal to know that I brought that to them.
I compare this experience to an episode of Ray Mears bushcraft I watched once where he was in the jungle somewhere. The tribespeople he were with had so much to share as their experiences with their environment meant they had intimate survival knowledge. But when Ray asked them to make a friction fire, they lost all confidence and looked honestly quite embarassed and ashamed of themselves.
Ray said it was quite alright and that it would be an honor to show them how to do it, after all that is what he did for a living.
    So he did.
And so the moral of the story is, sometimes its the last person we expect who can reteach us how to be the person we want to be.
Sometimes it takes a 23 year old asian guy who's a wee bit heavy on the 'tism to show small white girls how to be small white girls ahhahhahahah
Didn't get to play rough and tumble with the boys though, (just like in primary school no tackle footy) because something something "legal responsibility". I hate it when the group tells you not to play when you know how to play properly because I know for a FACT we all suffer for the lack of appropriate reciprocal play in childrens lives. But thats not even the worst part. The worst part is the dirty looks you get. Like I'm worse than trash. Doing something disgusting, reprehensible, abandonment worthy, base and obscene. Trying to educate young lads on the limits of their body and those around them, especially on a balance level through a bit of wrestling like we did when I was a lad.
    No.
No that is not allowed in this world Joshuah.
Well I'm sorry but if you don't let lads play then don't be sur-fucking-prised if they have no concept of limits/boundaries when it comes to the love language of touch. Which you NEED btw. You reap what you sow ladies and gentlemen and honestly my head is a brick sometimes it takes a while for me to learn 😅 but as fate would have it, that is how it works. You can take my word for it
Thank God for Jordan Peterson ^_^

I don't think play is optional in relationships, or in an individual's life for that matter. And the best business relationships have play at least in the form of intellectual exploration. Play can be utilized on many levels to advance or deepen relationship between two people. The dynamic changes greatly if it's a group playing. Maybe it's the level of attention to one person that makes that distinction. Focused play is powerful. Play is so many things; it's serious, it's light, it's joyful and it's profound. (And it isn't always easy.) A couple setting a mutual goal and playing their way to it would seem (as you've stated) the optimal way for two people to achieve and live life more abundantly.
We don't really know as much as we should about it. We seem to put it away with childish things but, I don't know how wise that is. Most of what I enjoy is play - writing, painting, hiking and acting goofy with friends and family. It is quite a complicated manner of being, to slip into another world for a moment that's outside of seriousness, heaviness and the weight of it all. It truly is a necessity - how do people bear the world without it? My family has a saying, 'the family who laughs together stays together.' I think there's a presupposition there that you mentioned at the end, all the bitterness or resentment has to be shed first so that the 'laughing together' about the tragedy of life can do its work to heal the soul.
"A merry heart does good, like medicine,
But a broken spirit dries the bones."
Play is good medicine for the soul. If I don't play, I lose myself. But overbearing and rigid partners never worked for me. Still, order is very important to me and my sense of wellbeing. I think it ties in with what Katherine and you discussed: freedom requires restriction. There's a wonderful safety there. That's why male and female are such powerful forces when properly aligned.

It's all about conflict. Conflict is the lifeblood of existence. Conflict is what keeps things interesting, and keeps everything from stagnating to absolute zero. But malevolence is *forced* conflict. and play is *consensual* conflict. Structured conflict. Conflict that has rules and boundaries to keep it from getting so out of control that things spiral into chaos, and when everything is chaos, that's the same as everything being nothing. Conflict is the middle point between the two horseshoe bell-curve-ends of absolute chaos and absolute boredom. So you want conflict. But you want it to be, "Hey, let's have some fun."

Yes. This dynamic is also applicable to societies too. Chaos could be seen as the 'left' (boundry-less) being too much of a majority for a society. And the 'right' (overly orderly) being the opposite extreme. Although in this case neither is exclusively evil or good. As those are interchangable depending what side of the fence you percieve to be. Both keep eachother in balance. And imbalances are written in history

I generally go more with 'sheltered person' instead of naive,
but it's not hard for me to doubt, because I've experienced it, and for me, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are two very important movies that depict some of the nature of evil.
HOWEVER, I'd love to hear you speak to people's ideas of some Eastern Religions (like Buddhism?), where I think people get the notion of "no good or evil." At least, this is where I assume they get this idea of "nothing good or bad."

O I got u! Like noticing where it was written that Satan entered in Judas so that you could take up understanding of ordinance and declare truth !
If ur a teenager it may be that malevolence is that bully romance that keeps each-other in check. Like mate? But to each they own
Firsts matter and the way is the best first. Like this I remember that age once I’ll love you in how to be found, I’ll clothe you in a good way to take.
When you get blessed to have a natural friend and you have a person to a personality with them.
    And beautiful the identity of
And for the age that hasn’t come I love you how I would like to be loved or how I’d want my somebody to loved.

"A lot of people stop playing when they're teenagers." I would argue that childlike play eventually morphs into foreplay once a young person enters puberty. ;)

You can't replace General playfulness with something only limited to sexuality, it's sick, go fix your mind
Overemphasizing sexuality is how this generation lost their way in the first place, wake up

To teach kids to play is literally the most important thing you can do for the overall quality of life of humanity. To teach them how to choose, to want, and to properly engage in, the best form of conflict. Public schools trying to restrict all forms of playing, and teaching kids to avoid all conflict, is genocide-level evil. Schools could be nothing but recess and they'd be just as valuable. Or more! Online learning is an unfathomably terrible idea. This is why governments that try to overcoddle their citizens, and stop them from settling conflicts on their own, are as evil as abusively-overprotective parents. We all recognize that's wrong. But it's wrong because they're like vampires stealing away the thing that gives our lives purpose. And, conversely, if Americans came up with the idea of summer vacation, they're the smartest people in history. Three months of unstructured play, for the sheer sacredness of play. Holy fuck. Literal best idea ever.

I can't stand touch, I don't like it. I could not make myself wrestle with my daughters (I only have girls). I have too much trauma in my past for that. I can (and do) toss the kids in the air. I feel crippled there.
