    You should really get yourself an LT Wright knife. I know you’ll love any of them.
    In particular I bet you’d love the Shemanese. I do!

    It turned out great! The bk9 is definitely a legendary blade and Ethan did it right. I use ferric chloride mixed with vinegar to do darkened blades when I make them, it gives a nice gray finish thats more full than the vinegar alone but obviously either is fine lol. You've got a great belt setup going on and there is not much more you would need tool wise, slap a good belt pouch on there and you're ready to go 😉. Thanks for showing 👍.

      I formed a foil dish, put the blade in it, and poured that chloride in. Fumes and smoke happened, and the foil dissolved. Bad chemical reaction. But...the blade turned out great.

      I'm with you! I think part of it is that the knife is our life line. An extension of us. With it we can get fire, food, shelter, defend ourselves, etc. With our skills, knowledge, and knife we walk through the forest with confidence, boldness, maybe even a little pride. It's primitive, manly, something foreign to most of society today

    Howdy from Montana Dan! I'm playing a bit of catch up with some of your vids amigo.
    I own a couple BK-5 camp knives which was a colaboracion betwween Jerry Fisk and Ethan Becker, one is an early Camillus version and a later version by Ka-bar...both great knives!
    I've always wanted to try the BK-9 myself...I just keep puttng it off for one reason or another...maybe one day....I never handled one in person, perhaps that is the reason for my hesitation...LOL...anyhow thanks for the vid Dan...God bless!...woods

    Good job modifying the BK9 Dan!
    Vinegar patina is a great method; have you ever tried using coffee grounds? It produces a darker patina that I have found to be slightly more durable patina than vinegar, I especially like to use it for darkening the blade.

    • @ochocobushcraft1742

    I totally agree. I love my BK-9. I did all the upgrades you did to yours but I carry mine on a harness that hangs across my body. I hate carrying any thing on my belt because it pulls my pants down after awhile and it must be a bear when you take a dump with all that stuff hanging off your waist. Lol! I struggle when I have to go to a public restroom with my pistol on my belt. I heard a guy left his pistol in a public restroom one time and a kid found it. He forgot that he even put it down when he went to the toilet. Scary! I usually carry in a shoulder holster or my chest rig. Anyway, the BK-9 is my favorite knife as well out of all the others I have collected over my 63 years of life. Great video! Thanks.

      Bk9, junglas 2, rtak 2 are up there..Love the saber grind of bk 9. I'd like an AK 10 to come out. It would be awesome. Rtak 2 is a 10.5 in blade and has a choil. Flat grind though. Comes with huge micarta handles and 5160 steel

    A couple sheaths I had, I found I could just just move the closure strap to the opposite side, so there was no chance of getting sliced. Many you cannot.

      I buy a regular BK9 off Amazon, then use paint remover to get the black coating off, and 800 grit sandpaper. Then soak it in white vinegar to put on a patina.

      They are very close to equal. The BK9 is better at delimbing, but the Junglas is better at heavy chopping. Both are very comfortable in the hand and hold a great edge.

    There are several Esee Junglas/Junglas II and Becker BK 9 comparisons on RUclips and social media. Almost all prefer the Esee. It seems last year you were all about the Junglas II, and earlier this year the Esee 6. Now, the BK-9. Is this a change in preference by you, or just a content dump? I’m confused.

    • @ochocobushcraft1742
      @ochocobushcraft1742  9 месяцев назад +2

      Last winter I used my Junglas 2.all winter, while my BK9 stayed home. This winter I switched. They are both favorites. After the passing of my good friend Mark from Sagebrush Customs, I decided to begin to learn all of the things he was doing for me. So, the BK9 is my current pride and joy because the blade patina, 90 degree spine, custom color of brown & green handles, sheath design, is all me. I am having a blast using it because it's all my work or design.
      Summer, I did more ultralight hiking and rock climbing than ever before. One very rugged, yet light knife was all l could carry, especially rock climbing. So the Esee 6 was my choice.
      It's nice to have options and a blessing to have found two knives I can call my favorite.
      Never heard of a content dump???

    • @hotshot791
      @hotshot791 9 месяцев назад

      Thanks, Dan. Love your videos-big fan. Your explanation makes sense. By “content dump” I was referring to some creator’s tendencies to be somewhat desperate to post new content that they dump superfluous content,or content solely (seemingly) designed to sell products as opposed to demonstrating skills, which you aptly do. Not trying to offend you-big fan!

    • @ochocobushcraft1742
      @ochocobushcraft1742  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@hotshot791 thanks, I actually never heard that term before. Right now I'm anxiously awaiting fire season to end. I have a lot of stuff I want to do for videos, but fire restrictions are preventing me. I am going to start doing some shorts between videos once in awhile. A lot of them will be just for fun. The lighter side of bushcraft. So in my first one I was playing off of the old Crocodile Dundee movie line, lol!
      Thanks again!
