Hi Todd, really enjoyed your video. I put the Kuryakyn 5908 Hex boards on my 2018 Sport Glide. They’re great, really comfortable especially on longer trips.
Hi im thinking of running the Hex borads front and rear in chrome. Please can u tell me the parts numbers for the front and if u have the rear ones, the Spline adapters. Im in the UK nr Liverpool
I like the mods, I have the same bike and same color! What an awesome bike! Ordered a Rinehart slip on muffler, a backrest for my wife and LED turn signals front and back! I still am going to get new hand grips and floor boards for the passenger!
Great job Todd! I know I'm a little late to respond, like a year! I love my '18 FLSB (1st one that we got into the dealership & the 1st sale). I'll skip around a bit on my responses. I'll give the thumbs up to the Kuryaky 5909 Hex Boards, I love mine. I came off of a Dyna (loved it) and after talking to my fellow Dyna riders and seeing the results of bikes dropped at speed with both HD engine guards and Bungking crash bars, I went with the latter. The Bungking bars are much less likely to bend in a drop at speed than the HD guards. The only draw back is that you can't run the HD soft lowers, but living in Texas, there's less of a need for them when it gets "cold" here. I decided to take my stock fairing off and replace it with an El Diablo fairing from LA Fairing Co. I like the look and it cuts down on quite a bit of the buffeting. I'm 6' tall so unless I go with a particularly high windscreen on the stock fairing, I'm bound to get some, it's not really that noticeable. The El Diablo gives me space to mount a small bag as well. I also added a set of Memphis Shades Hand Guards, they've been a nice addition, not only for the wind but also rocks, bugs, etc and I like the aesthetics. While I was at it, I swapped out the stock grips for a set of HD Airflow grips. Finally, I added a set of HD 4" Curved Pull Back Fat Risers. Keep up the great work!
I forgot to add that I have a birthday coming up in a few weeks and plan on adding one of the TUNAI Button Remote Controls to my wish list! Having ridden a bunch of baggers (I used to work at HD), I don't want one. Don't get me wrong, they're great, but not for me. Thanks again!@@ToddsProjectsandOutdoorJournal
I just ordered the same risers. I'm only 5'9" and I have short arms as well. I've only ridden my 2019 Sport Guide 40 miles, but when I ride my arms stiff and they begin to ache within minutes and also aches between my shoulder blades. I'm hoping the 4" fat risers will solve that. But, should I have ordered the 6" risers?
I just ordered my "Fat" 4" risers. Please tell me that the risers will help my arm, shoulders, neck, and between my shoulder blades all ache when I ride with the "stock" factory handlebar's mount!
@@davidgrigsby7862 I’m 6’ & have a 33" sleeve length, the 4" risers have helped a lot, I no longer have any back or shoulder pains. Word of advice though, check the angle of your handlebars after you remount them. I didn’t & thought I needed 6" risers. After I rotated them up about 1/2", they were fine.
Thanks for the videos. I just downsized to a '19 Sport Glide due to back issues. Luckily, the previous owner had made a ton of modifications, including a Klock Werks windshield. I'm around 6', so it is just high enough for the wind to hit me in the neck and face. I will probably be changing to the 15" windshield as a result of seeing it on your videos. Unfortunately, I didn't get the owner's manual and had no idea it had the USB plug until I watched this video. Thanks again.
Hi Todd, since getting my Sport Glide in Apr/March and putting 5k+ miles on her already, mods I've done to it already, Stage 1 tune + Rinehart chrome slipon.. Harley-Davidson Mustache engine guard, Kuryakyn Hex floorboards (Fed up draggin my heels - but I have already scraped the boards..lol) - Quadlock phone mount with wireless charging & vibration dampener (Had to use bit of old pushbike innertube as a spacer, as their mount spacers didn't fit my bars - worked great!!) + a set of "Grip puppies" to improve the feel of riding the bike, less throttle twisting and very comfy when riding with them with minimizing vibration..not that there is a lot of vibration from the M8 anyway.. Will get a set of those rear crash bar protectors as one point as well.. Also bought a Gopro hero10 to start recording some of my rides...1st big one being a 10day trip around Scotland in August. Thanks for the continued updates...loved the recent vid on the different screens you've been trying.
Hey Todd, great video-- really like your mods. I bought my Sport Glide new in 2019 and also added the same front engine guard. I really like the rear guards so will have to add (I did drop the bike one time and scratched the right side saddle bag. The rear guards look nice too. I added the same Kuryakyn mini boards up front, but also put them on for passenger (my wife really appreciates that!). I added a 9" windshield which I really like. I did not like the stock black cover on left side (looks plastic), so i repalced with a really nice chrome Harley cover and it looks great. I also replaced the air filter plate so rather than "107", I just have the Harley Bar and Shield (lloks great). I do like the clock you added so will have to pick one up. Will now search for your video re: bluetooth -- I am considering the Kuryakyn 2720 road thunder handlebar mounted speaker. I think I might also consider the soft lowers after watching your video. Great weather in Southern CA right now so will be out for a short spin on Friday and then a couple hundred miles on Saturday.
I liked your crash bar and soft lowers so much I just ordered them for my Sport Glide!! I am going to get the windshield also, I'm just so exited about riding again but living in Montana we can only ride half the year !
I feel your pain, Michigan isn't much better. My bike is usually put away for about 5 months of the year. Thanks for watching and good luck. Here's a windshield video you may find helpful ruclips.net/video/H1FZWOIcDms/видео.html
Hey Todd, I've watched so many Sport Glide videos as I prepare to get my own after the winter and have to say your mods are the best. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to copy everyone of them plus a Tab exhaust with medium baffle. Thanks.
Hey Michael, did you end up getting the Tab exhaust? I’m guessing slip ons? Which ones did you get and how do you like them? Did you have to tune your bike after ?
Hi Luis, the way it turned out I had the exhaust before the bike arrived! I’m really pleased with the medium baffle option. It is a great improvement on the standard, giving the bike that Harley rumble that I felt was missing. No need for any engine adjustments, just undo a few bolts, transfer over the heat shield and job done in 15mins. I thought the Zombie baffle might have been a bit extreme, Don’t get me wrong, people certainly know you are coming down the road with a medium one fitted but without leaving a trail of shaking fists and crying babies😮 Hope that helps
My Sport Glide is red. I went the black out & more performance route. You may remember I have the same Gustafson windshield only I have added the lowers which for me was money well spent. For engine guard I went with Bunk King for a different look. I cannot do the lowers with it but I do have the Pyramid front fender extender & Gustafson fairing lowers both help in the rain. Rear engine guards same as you. Pegs I’ve went with cleats. But I have seen the boards from a slim mounted on them which looked good and might be nice for trips. I also did the Bunk King rear shock extender which raised the back of the bike an inch. That alone raised the available lean angle enough that I am no longer dragging a boot heal in tight curves. I like your mirrors idea think I need to check that out. 21k I’ve road mine Ohio to Florida & to Sturgis. The quick detach rear rack & box is nice for the long trips. If you decide to bump it up I think you would like the torque cam plus S&S chrome Streetmaster exhaust, SE tuner & dyno tune. No loss of warranty or mileage only a stronger better running & better sounding bike. Still pretty quiet but no more sowing machine sound.
Todd, I put the lower plastic wings from Gustafasson on my 2020 S.G which drastically cut down on the wind coming up from the gas tank filling the negative pressure cause by my 14” windscreen , they match well and cut down on wind turbulence around your helmet, a must have for open face helments
I had a different experience with those lower wind deflectors. You can check that video out here ruclips.net/video/QdiB1RRAUH4/видео.html I had to take them off because they created more wind flow to my torso. I have the taller 16" windshield.
Hey Todd. I have a 2019 Sport Glide and I just installed the Kuryakyn 5909 (black) floor boards. They are very comfortable. Got them through J & P Cycles also.
Hi, could you send me back what the correct part number is for the Kuryakyn Splined adapters that you used? Also let me know where you ordered them from?
I have the full floorboards, engine guards and the soft lowers. I also have a Klock 8” ws but I’m not real happy with the coverage. I’m going to check on the Gustafson & Freedom shield 12” as well as the bag guards thanks for the bag guard info.. Thanks for video! New sub😁…….. Ride hard or stay home 😎
Hey Todd I ride a sport glide but something catch my eye your bell on your bike need to be on the right bottom not left and whoever gifted to you has to move it over. Safe ride man
Hey Todd, I have a 2021 Sport Glide (White). Like your video, thanks for sharing the mods. I have the lowers as well and they have been great for driving in the North East. I think your lowers were upside down in the video, was that on purpose?
I just went back and looked and they are on correctly. But now that you mentioned it I did go back and look at a video done by Doc Harley on the soft lowers. He is a very experienced Harley mechanic an he has the logos up top as do I. If he's got his on upside down so do I.
Just wanted to follow up and say that they were on upside down. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Turns out that they go on either way and fit exactly the same. But the logo should be on the bottom which makes the logo right side up. Good eye to catch that for me.
I would say yes. First there are 3 different position choices during the install, and second, you can put the heal of your boot up on the mini floorboard and move your foot position forward vs having your heal only being able to go forward until it hits the peg on the OEM pegs. Hopes this helps. Best of luck to you and thanks for watching...
