    Reading all these reviews that complain about needing to set up a Garmin acct. Why the heck would you buy a Garmin scale without having a Garmin acct?? 😂 The main attraction to this scale is it links to my Garmin account and will update my profile with this information automatically.

    Setup took 10 minutes not including reading the guide. Weight is in line with my old scale, body fat within 7% of DEXA. No idea how close it is on water mass and such. Unlike seemingly many others on here, I'm not an elite athlete who needs absolute precision. It gives me data that seems consistant and accurate enough to monitor my health and fitness. Overall 8/10

    Adding a secondary user took awhile for me! The luxury of being a life-long IT Technician made the ’add another user part’ a frustrating 15 minute journey, but my fiancée is now added. However, for the regular layman or someone not in IT, I can imagine it’s a complete nightmare.
    The Interaction Design team over at Garmin needs to work EVEN HARDER.
    Plus, the scale should be able to be just that, initially- a scale with just weight measurement. Without the need for additional configuration through neither Bluetooth nor WiFi. I paid 1390 SEK for mine (discounted 400 SEK) and I still feel a bit robbed.
    Garmin made a tethered appliance and if that’s ’the future’, I’ll be packing my bags today.

    @tombeatty4792 10 месяцев назад +1

    Like many others, setting up myself (existing Garmin user) was not too bad. Trying to add my wife, who had to create a Garmin account, was a nightmare. She has to use the “?-account” (which itself is a bad presentation. It makes the user think something is wrong. Displaying something like “Guest” would be clearer). Weighing yourself and then tapping to your account seems backwards. The weight number seems accurate. The other metrics look very wacky. I just retired a 20-year old Tanita body metric scale for this Garmin. The Tanita was far better, even at 20 years old. This is a clumsy attempt by Garmin to expand their ecosystem.

    Totally disappointed by the accuracy of this scale. As a 15-year fitness industry professional, I've easily stepped on over 50 devices with the same technology. Margin of error for my scale was +7% compared to an average of other devices I've used (which have four points of contact). I'm 6 feet tall. Garmin seems to think my skeleton only weighs 9 lbs. I want to like this company, but between my digital display on my watch fully disappearing and this scale, I can no longer confidently recommend this company.

    • @chriswright9096

      Found this guidance online: "Bone content is the percentage of bone mineral as compared to total body weight. The average bone content for adults is 3-5%". I believe it doesn't include bone marrow weight (which is perhaps why people are sometimes surprised by how low it is). Sounds like yours is approximately in line with expectations.
      My scale seems to be perfectly accurate in measuring weight. When it comes to body fat percentage, well all these scales (not just Garmin) have inaccuracies. General opinion is that, for lean people, the body fat is overstated while for heavier folks the body fat is understated.

    An example of a product that collects the right information but delivery is poor. Nobody is going to view their info on their scale. You stand on it, let it scan, then get off it and move on with your day. Review details in the app on your phone later

      @@larionciprian2151 If you want to measure the amount of water weight you lost during a 2hr run then you need to measure yourself immediately before and immediately after. Highly unlikely this product would be used for that. It's a bad "feature".

      @@SpeedBoosted136 This scale is crap and way too expensive for how poor it is. She really disappointed me because she gives the wrong fat ratio. I just had a DXA and Bod Pod measurement, which is the most accurate there is, and I was measured with a 7% body fat percentage. When I have the Garmin Index™ S2 Smart Scale measure me, the scale says I have a body fat percentage of 19%, which is twice the correct amount. This scale cannot be said to be useful as it clearly does not work. Returned and received a new one, but it was not a fault in the scale. The scales are simply not able to measure correctly. I'm told this happens most if people have a very low body fat percentage but a relatively good muscle percentage. If it is the case that the scale cannot handle people of that body type, it should be stated in the instructions, or at least the scale should not be sold under the pretense that it is fairly accurate in estimating body mass ratios when it is not at all. I don't know if it can estimate fat mass in people with a lot of fat, and if it does, the scale should be sold under the sign that it can't accurately estimate fat mass in thin people.
