My mawmaw and mom canned chow chow, what a treat it was. I always looked forward to late summer when it was time to can. My mom passed away in May and I got the last jar of chow chow she ever canned. There is no way in the world I would ever open and eat it. Everytime I open the kitchen cabinet I see it on the shelf and I think of her with much love.
I found your site a couple of days ago while I was searching for a chow chow recipe. I got everything cut up and let it drain overnight. I am re-watching you while I finish the process. Your husband is right, this is already tasting so great, and addictive. This is better than my Grandmothers, and as kids we could eat a pint jar at one sitting.Thank you so much for all you are doing. God Bless you and yours. .
Chow Chow is soo good!! My favorite meal from childhood is pinto beans fried potatoes cornbread and chow chow!!! Sweet tea and I’m all set!! Be safe. God bless you both. Grandma in AZ :)
My Grandmother canned chow chow when I was little 1950’s. My Grandmother passed away many years ago and with her went the recipe. I’m so excited to watch you prepare chow chow and I can make some chow chow with my garden. Thank You So Much For This Recipe…🌻🌻🌻 PS…My Grandma Served Her Chow Chow with a pot of Cooked Pinto Beans Fried Potatoes Baked Cornbread Comfort Food As Many Call It…
My grandmother canned it too! It really liven's up a meal in the winter months when fresh vegetables are gone for the year. Kind of like what fresh lettuce and tomatoes do for Mexican food. I am 61yrs old. Born-n-raised in Oklahoma. This video and recipe brings back good memories of my grandma's house. That woman cooked all the time. There was always good food to eat there.
I'm 57 never heard of chow chow but I got 2+ gallons to jar up wish I had green tomatoes but did find tomatillo instead added zucchini and cucumber too. Got your recipe memorized already. Thank you, my late mother was from west Virginia and taught me canning, I'm the only one of six that cans.
Thank you for this recipe. My dad had mentioned he missed eating his grandma’s chow chow ( I had never heard of it) I found your video and I learned to can because of you❤️ I made my dad a batch and he loved it. He eats it on everything and I can’t keep up with him. Every visit, he’s eaten all of it and I gave him 14 good sized jars and it’s gone in 1 1/2 months 😂 Thank you for teaching me how to make some of my Daddy’s favorites
I just pulled 5 pints out of my water bath canner, had about 1 c leftover, made for taste testing! Soooo good. We opened the last jar of some I made about 3 years ago in the winter, so I was ready to get busy. Thanks for sharing this recipe, it’s a keeper!
This recipe is pretty close to how my grandma did her chow chow. I cannot find her recipes for the life of me, but I appreciate you sharing this! I'm definitely going to try this over the summer, looks delicious!
Fantastic recipe! I just made this using green tomatoes, onions, radishes, carrots, hot banana peppers, and squash because that’s all I had from my garden. It’s so good! Thank you for this recipe! I had a little leftover brine and I used it for eggs.
I can understand how difficult it was for Mr. Brown to stay out of your relish mixture. And that was before you added the spices and sugar! Yum. I'm going to try this one after my next grocery trip. I've never water bathed anything. Looks like fun to me and I love every chow chow I've tasted.
My Southern Mamma made sure our family didn't miss out on all the tastes of the South. I miss her so much. Momma went to live in paradise. Many years ago. Thank you for taking me down memory lane. Momma spoke the same way you do ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It’s 06:30 here in Tennessee, I am making Chow-Chow today, like always I watch videos and collect other folks ideas and add to my recipe. I appreciate you sharing your recipes for those that have NEVER canned. I grew up in the 60’s, so canning was a family tradition, we never had a garden go to waste. Thank you for you time and sharing your families traditions. God Bless, do be safe.

I decided to learn how to can! I looked at so many different recipes and decided on your recipe. Being nervous about canning since I had never tried was a real big deal to me. I went step by step as you explained and my chow chow came out totally awesome! I was so glad to hear those little jars popping (to let me know that it had sealed)! I will be giving some away as gifts! Thank you so much!
I just put 7 pints in a canner. My son wanted me to make some with heat-so I added a little cayenne and two small jalapeños. Can’t wait to see how good it is. Thank you for all the “old ways” recipes. God bless!!!♥️
Mrs Lorie you are such a blessing keeping the old ways . I have made chow chow before and it is so delicious. You can also use a food processor to chop the vegetables for you it save time as well. Again thank you for being a blessing to us.

Chowchow and picalily along with homemade catsup were the three main condiments canned every year when I was a kid. Sauerkraut was made about the same time as the chow chow and served on nearly every table in my community. Sure is good with pinto beans and cornbread.
My mother in law used to make chow chow ...her recipe went with her when she passed ...we still have a few jars left ...so much work but it's all worth it
Seems the abundance I recall going in chow chow was corn, carrots, radishes, cut up beans, assorted bell peppers, don't recall cabbage but whatever the abundance was end of growing season chow chow. If some were wanting spicey a couple sorrano peppers were added in after all the mild ones were jarred up. Yum yum yummy. Summer all the way through winter if you got enough put up. Sometimes even coliflower and green tomatoes. Although green tomatoes were rare. They were preferred as fried fresh from the vine, or just put up pickled with garlic and dill. Love watching your show. So down home honest and peaceful. Love the sincerety of it.
Omg !!! Chow Chow .Bless your heart .This was my mommee favorite thing to make for us children .Rest in Peace . I love this on a big bowl of good old fashion white beans ..Thank you for this ..
I remember when my mom, aunt and grandma would get together in the summer, go to the farmer’s market to buy all those fresh veggies. Then they would go to my aunt’s farmhouse and make a day of canning chow chow. I can still remember that delicious smell. My mouth just waters watching you make yours!
When I was little my momma always had a bowl of cucumbers and onions soaked in vinegar and dill at supper time she would put it on the table and we ate it as a side along with sliced tomatoes with salt and pepper. This chow chow looks fantastic im saving this video so I can make this. Thank you miss Lori👍👍👍
@@jeanettesilhouette5678 Mom made this and so do I. Sometimes with some salt, bor sweet, with alittle sugar. The bowl never ran empty thru the summer-autumn months, refreshing the cucumber and onions as it got low. When the tomatoes got ripe and plenty, we'd slice some fresh, still warm from the sun to eat on the side. Eventually as we got our fill, we added tomatoes to the cucumber mixture with a spoonful or two of mayo, with or w/o the sugar. Regardless, everything got a healthy dose of black pepper. We ate it with all dinners and suppers, like a side or a salad. Mom has ate a bowl for breakfast, and me, for a late evening snack. I love it best with fresh warm biscuits or cornbread, hot or cold to sop up the juices with. Fresh ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, and onion is also good with hot bacon drippings poured over it.
I'm drooling!!! I love chow chow! Love it on sandwiches, as side for pot roast dinners, pork chops, beans and cornbread...on and on. Thank you for sharing the recipe! My granny made it when I was little and we put it on everything! Happy cannin'!!!
I’m Australian...but I think I must have been a Southerner in a past life! 😂 I have never heard of chow chow but now I really need to make some! I’ve made pickles a relishes before so now I have chow chow on my list of things to make...plus your black eyed peas gumbo! Oh, my!
First time I ever made this was in crock jar.it had all the Ingreduents u named off. The I got to canning it it's good to eat plain.i loved it with smoked sausage
I canned about sixteen pints last year. It was a hit! This chow chow is so good with soup beans on a cold night. Thank you Ms. Lori! Keep these canning recipes coming. Much ❤️
Well, i cleaned up my garden today for winter. I got a nice bowl of green tomatoes, peppers, carrots. With a half a cabbage and enough onions in my fridge. Im so excited Miss Lori, im making this tomorrow. My veg is cut up, salted and in the fridge! ❤
Wow! You can always learn something new and toastIng the seeds was something that I never thought of or was never taught. I have made tons of cha-cha. or ( chow chow) and I think that this will take my relish to another level. Thank you ☺️ simple, but well explained.
I am so glad I found your channel. I used to help my grandmother can when I was a young girl. I now have the desire to follow in her footsteps and can food. However, I haven't been able to find a Chow Chow recipe like she made until now. Thank you for sharing.
My mom did chow chow with corn, and then a green relish called piccalilli. She canned them at the same time so they've always been interchangeable in my mind.
I've seen so many canners make Chow Chow, so I decided I wanted this Southern Chow Chow. I'm a southerner! So today I made it, and oh my! it's delicious! It's absolutely delicious!!! I used one Jalapeños, removed the seeds, and the Chow Chow wasn't hot at all; some good stuff.
I was helping my grandmother make this, she’d send me to her safe as she called it( like the white cabinet you have) to get a spice for her. She set me up, then giggled when she sent me to get allspice.....yip I was grabbing all the spices! Lol 😆
Connie, that's a cute story...the kind we like to tell over and over and it's still just as much fun as the first time around! It's all about making memories and you and your Grandmother did just that! ❤️
I haven't watched this yet but i just wanted to say how exciting it is to watch this. I can remember my late Mommy talking about how her family woukd make this and how much she loved it. Im looking forward to this . She would have been 97 this year. Im 60
Wow this recipe sounds delicious. Praying your Saturday is going well. You are such a blessing in my life. Thank you for sharing your talents with everyone. God bless you and your family. 🙏🏻
My mama and mawmaw loooooove chow chow especially when they are asking fried potatoes with onions a pot of beans they been cooking all day and some cornbread and maybe some coleslaw they love it so much ..
I'm SO glad I got to come visit today, and catch up with you and doings on the homestead. My mouth is watering for the chow chow. As always, thank you!
Yum …one of my favorite things as a child along with the cornmeal dumplings so appreciate your videos on both…and thanks to Catherine Stringer for telling me about your video on which one to find them …🤗
I bought chow chow at my local farm, but haven't used it yet. I had never heard of it or eaten it that I know of, but I love sauerkraut, so...😉 And oh Ms Lori, that apron looked so beautiful on you!😍 I'm so glad I got them all! I hope they bless your heart as much as you bless mine!! I do hope you're feeling better!🙏 Love & prayers!💖
Ms Lori that Looks so yummy l made squash relish two years ago and it was so good but my dad use to make it with cabbage and assorted vegetables like yours and I am looking forward to doing your recipe. You and Mr. Brown are such wonderful people and I enjoy watching your channel. God bless you and your entire family.
I play your videos while I am in the kitchen for long days of canning. It's like having a favorite friend visiting and keeping company with me. While growing up I spent much of my time in my grandmother's kitchen "helping" her cook or just sitting and talking while sharing tea and her homemade cookies. During those times she would tell me stories of her life. Listening to you chat while you cook brings me home again. I am a bit older than you, and nowadays most of my loved ones are gone. It's good to hear a gentle voice who appreciates the old ways. Thank you.... keep up the good work. :)
My grandma used to make summer pickle with odds and ends from her late garden. I made it once in 2017, I think. I am ready to make more! You inspire me!!
I had never heard of Chow Chow until I came to North Carolina as a new bride. My husband's grandmother canned this, and oh mercy! Was it GOOD! I could practically make a meal out of Chow Chow and cornbread. And this recipe really does look easy. Thanks again, girl, for sharing this wonderful recipe. God bless.
I made chow-chow from Ms Lorie's recipe last year, and was so taken with it that I tweaked the recipe to make a number of variants (Japaleno Chow-Chow anyone?). In Michigan where I grew up it was called "Rummage Salad" because at the end of the gardening season we would 'rummage' through what was left unharvested to make a pickled salad that was different every year. Come February a jar of Rummage Salad was a prize at the dinner table!! Add some cornbread and you will want for nothing.
Oh my gosh! I am so excited to see you make chow-chow!!! I love it but never attempted to try it. After watching your video I feel like I can do it!! Your recipe looks like what my great grandmother used to make. ❤️ Thank you so much for doing this one. I have tried a lot of your recipes and have never been disappointed. Lordy, I wish I was your neighbor. 😁
The addition of the prepared mustard is really interesting! I've seen lots of chow chow recipes but never one with mustard : ) Love the bowl and love your channel. You're just like someone who lives down the road. I've been writing about Appalachia for over 10 years-one of my frequent subjects is the language of Appalachia. I know you live in Arkansas, but I was tickled pink when I heard you say larrupin for the first time. I've seen that word in so many Appalachian dictionaries, but never heard anyone say it. I just love hearing you use that old word!
My father always used that word to describe much of my mother's cooking...he was born in Denver, Colorado in 1910, and grew up in Idaho...he was a teen- ager by the time his family moved to California....I have no idea where he learned it..and I had not heard anyone else use it until now!! And I have lived in Alabama and Virginia! Loved hearing it, too! And I am an oldie...82 yrs.
@@martiblesch7865 my mom( born 1933) grew up in NE Louisiana and she used larripin to describe anything better than delicious. She and I made chow chow but used ripe tomatoes also plus a tiny bit of dad's long, skinny HOT peppers. I truly wish she were able to help me make some today. Such a pleasant memory.
Hi there! I just had to tell you that I made this chow chow and I couldn't Believe that this is the one I remember my grandmother... made. My hubby could not stay out of the kitchen! so I gave him a taste and he said this is the Best he's ever had. So, this is a very High Compliment. The salt was Perfect, and everything else was as well. Thank you for this delicious recipe, I will be looking for more... Oh, I got 5 Pints and enough for 5 more. will get started on that later so I can put it in fridge overnight. Thank you again and Blessings to you and MR Brown.
Your Chow Chow looks mighty good Ms. Lori. I have watched several videos trying to find the right Chow Chow that my Momma used to can. I was getting so frustrated because everyone made their's different and it wasn't the one. The one you made today is the one. Thank you so much for sharing it with us. I will be making some of this soon. Love to you and Mr. Brown. God Bless Y'all. Huggggggggs
Oh Thank you I have been looking for a recipe for this as my Mom whom is 73 cant remember her Mommas 💕💕💕💕💕💕 HOPE it rings a bell to her 💕💕💕 Thank you oh so much 💛💜💙 Tonya
I love the dishpan. I have a collection but used them for flowers 💐. Will be my treasure hunt to find another for my big mixups. You’re just so pretty, radiating love Mrs. Lori.
Mr. Brown you crack me up. Your just like a little boy who COULD not keep your little hands in the cookie jar. It reminds me of when my boys were little and my husband would sneak into the kitchen when I was making fresh tortillas and they would eat them as fast as I could make them. Little boys (men) are always ready to eat. (Good food) now I'm gonna check this out. Thanks Ms. Lori, and God bless.
You just brought back a slew of memories for me. My Mama use to make ChowChow all the time and it was so good. I just love watching you and learning all about canning!! Thank you for all the wonderful memories that your bringing back to me.♡♡♡♡
Mrs.Lori I wanted to come back and tell you that I just made your recipe for this relish. Give or take a smiggin lol . I had 5 quarts and 1 pint i wanted all pints but couldn't find my jars . My jars are cooling and I can't wait to taste .the smell is wonderful Thank you Sweet Lady for all your hard work
Right!! I love the kitchen too. I made zucchini brownies today and it turned out amazing and tomorrow I'm make the zucchini tots. My mom made tomato gravy 2 days ago. I love watching these videos. Truly blessed.😇🙏
I wish you would set up a playlist for lunch lady recipes! You did the cinnamon rolls and I just watched it, thank you, I’ll be watching your canning videos a lot over the next few months, I’m brand new to it but have a lot to can, we used to eat a lot more pickled foods and didn’t have all the stomach issues we have now! We should be eating something pickled with every meal!
One thing I haven't seen or had in a long time is pepper sauce. I remember my dad growing peppers, the long ones. My mom would pick them. She would bring to boil half white vinegar and half apple cider vinegar along with salt, and spices. She would use glass bottles, I remember her using glass ketchup bottles. She would stuff the peppers in those glass bottles, and pour that liquid over those peppers. Once the bottles had cooled, she would cap them and put them on the shelf. Some of the peppers would be green, some red.i believe there was mustard seeds, in there too but we put some on greens, cabbages, peas. To give them flavor. I miss that. I just want some body that remembers this to give me a recipie please. This was part of my childhood, adult hood. Nobody make pepper sauce any more chow chow yes. We use the left over veggies in our garden in the fall. I still love chow chow like I love apper butter. Ms Lori can you help please. It was a Southern thing. It sat on the table. If the bottle got low. They just added more liquid. Till it was time to bring out a fresh bottle.🙂. Boy was it good. Love, respect and positivity always. Neita.✌🕯💕🙏🙂👋👣.
I made pepper sauce just the other day! You’re right though, I never hear anyone mention pepper sauce. Occasionally, I hear “pepper vinegar “ and think, ‘noooo, it’s pepper SAUCE’ hahahaha
We love all kinds of relish Lori. This was my first time to make pear chow chow since we had so many pears. I’ve learned that almost anything you have can be made into a chow chow. Thank you for your recipe.
I made OKAY for dinner tonight. It was so good and easy. I didn't have any okra, but didn't miss it. Thank you so much for the recipe for OKAY. You are a blessing. Love watching you. God Bless.
I've turned out chow chow and they eat it out of the jar they cant wait. I do add cauliflower. When I've put in jalapenos it makes the men cry.🤣🤣 I try to double. My new neighbor love it so much I have to make him quarts. Thank you so much God bless
This wonderful recipe reminds me of my late aunt Beatrice who was always in search of the perfect chow-chow. Wish she was around to try yours. I love chow-chow too so I'll definitely be making a batch. I am hooked on this channel Miss Lori!!💗🙏💗
My mothers chow chow had onions and cabage. But it was mild hot . But i can not remember what else was in it. But i loved it in my pinto beans. We were food poor so we had pintos alot. So i got to eating them with chow chow .thanks for for this.
Hi Ms. Lori, I just had to let you know I made your Chow-Chow, and it was some of the best I have had. Thank you so much for your recipe. We love watching you and Mr. Brown and have learned so much from the both of you. Thank you both for all you do. Judy
I introduced chow chow to a British Gardner this year. They love their chutney, said he would try it. I’m gonna make it this year. Lots of green tomatoes. This is close to my Mother’s way of making it. I live in the Blue Ridge/Appalachians.
Oh my goodness....!! I bet that does smell so good and taste good too . I would love to try this recipe . It's so pretty too . Thank you Miss Lori for sharing your recipe with us !! I'm gonna share this on Facebook with my family and friends . ❤❤❤
Bought chow chow tonight at krodgers eight dollars figure I can make it this summer..your my first video I watched so I'm going with your recipe....first time watching you ...oh yea Mr brown is a lucky man pretty wife and a ohsome cook ..
Thanks for sharing. I love watching you and Mr.Brown. I was a Brown before I was married. As you were reading your ingredients I was reminded of my Grandmother calling green peppers "mangos". Did you ever hear them referred to as that? She was from southern Indiana and I believe it was fairly common in the 1800 and early-mid 1900s. She also called her clothes closet a "press".
Now y’all I’m like Mr Brown, I would be sneakey sneaken behind Mrs Lori to eat that Chow Chow! Looks sooo delicious! Know y’all are working hard hard right now. We will all be watching to support y’all and enjoy what your bringing us. We all you both to pieces!!! God Bless All!!! 🍪🦋🌈☀️
Yesterday I chopped and chopped and chopped but today I canned the chow chow. I haven't eaten any but as Mr. Brown says, it smells wonderful. In the canner now but had about a 1/2 cup extra so when it cools...Yumm
I remember as a little girl with my mother using a clamp-on meat grinder which is still in her house somewhere. She passed less than a year ago. But we would put the green tomatoes onions and whatever through that because we want texture but we also want that background flavor. So we would drop a few onions in a few green tomatoes and then the rest all went through the grinder I used to love to turn the handle on the grinder!
My mawmaw and mom canned chow chow, what a treat it was. I always looked forward to late summer when it was time to can. My mom passed away in May and I got the last jar of chow chow she ever canned. Fresh ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, and onion is also good with hot bacon drippings poured over it.
if you have time,I would love a cookbook with your recipes in it
I'm drooling!!! I love chow chow! Love it on sandwiches, as side for pot roast dinners, pork chops, beans and cornbread...on and on. Thank you for sharing the recipe! My granny made it when I was little and we put it on everything! Happy cannin'!!!
Same here. It's so good on a fried baloney sandwich. Gotta toast the bread because I put so much chow chow on it that it gets soggy. Sooo good!!
Much ❤️
Do you mix it in with the beans or serve it on the side? I made 10 pints yesterday but I don't know what to do with it.
I mix it in. Try it on the side first, but most people like it mixed in the beans.
Well, i cleaned up my garden today for winter. I got a nice bowl of green tomatoes, peppers, carrots. With a half a cabbage and enough onions in my fridge. Im so excited Miss Lori, im making this tomorrow. My veg is cut up, salted and in the fridge! ❤
Sounds great!
Love chow chow. My grandma in Pocahontas made this every summer. I used to eat it straight out of the jar or with brown beans and cornbread..Mmm Mmm
My grandma lived in Pocahontas also.
If that’s Pocahontas TN my husband’s family the Tuckers were from there.
Thank you, xoxoxo
I just made a single batch & ended up with 3 pint! I am like Mr Brown… just couldn’t stay out of it!🥰
My mom did chow chow with corn, and then a green relish called piccalilli.
Wonderful!
Connie Miller adorable!
I haven't watched this yet but i just wanted to say how exciting it is to watch this. I can remember my late Mommy talking about how her family woukd make this and how much she loved it. Im looking forward to this . She would have been 97 this year. Im 60
My husband LOVES chow chow !!!
One of my favorite memories as a child was the smell in my Granny's kitchen when she was making pickles and chow chow
Wow this recipe sounds delicious. Praying your Saturday is going well. You are such a blessing in my life. Thank you for sharing your talents with everyone. God bless you and your family. 🙏🏻
Thank you Terri, xoxoxo
My mama and mawmaw loooooove chow chow especially when they are asking fried potatoes with onions a pot of beans they been cooking all day and some cornbread and maybe some coleslaw they love it so much ..
I'm SO glad I got to come visit today, and catch up with you and doings on the homestead. My mouth is watering for the chow chow. As always, thank you!
Wow! Just like my Grandma used to make, except she made hers a little spicey hot. We would spoon it over some pinto beans! How I miss that❤️
Miss Lori, when I was a kid I remember my family making a relish. It was just end of the garden vegetables. I remember it had corn in it.
Yum …one of my favorite things as a child along with the cornmeal dumplings so appreciate your videos on both…and thanks to Catherine Stringer for telling me about your video on which one to find them …🤗
My Dad use to make chow chow. It was really good. I haven't had any in years. He made his with cabbage too.
OH...You just made my day...this stuff is like gold in my family...Thanks for posting
I bought chow chow at my local farm, but haven't used it yet. I had never heard of it or eaten it that I know of, but I love sauerkraut, so...😉
And oh Ms Lori, that apron looked so beautiful on you!😍 I'm so glad I got them all! I hope they bless your heart as much as you bless mine!! I do hope you're feeling better!🙏 Love & prayers!💖
Ms Lori that
Looks so yummy l made squash relish two years ago and it was so good but my dad use to make it with cabbage and assorted vegetables like yours and I am looking forward to doing your recipe.
Oh , that makes my heart so happy, im so glad I'm spending time with you!
God Bless, xoxoxo
My grandma used to make summer pickle with odds and ends from her late garden. I made it once in 2017, I think. I am ready to make more! You inspire me!!
I had never heard of Chow Chow until I came to North Carolina as a new bride. My husband's grandmother canned this, and oh mercy! Was it GOOD! I could practically make a meal out of Chow Chow and cornbread. And this recipe really does look easy. Thanks again, girl, for sharing this wonderful recipe. God bless.
So so glad you did this recipe. Will make it this week. Sure miss my momma:s! Thanks so much.
Thank you so much for doing this one. I have tried a lot of your recipes and have never been disappointed. Lordy, I wish I was your neighbor. 😁
Wish you my neighbor!
Yes, you can do this!! Xoxoxo
How do you wat a Vewf Frank without it takes 1 days for Slaw to mature week 10 days for Sauerkraut
@@WhippoorwillHoller no maam i fly between here and New Mexico
I remember Grandma using dried mustard Mom 2
@Celebrating Appalachia when is the word used? I've watched this video a few times and I'm not catching it.
@@emmawagner471 I believe she says it in another video-I try to watch them all! I just love her and Mr. Brown too 😀
love your post Tipper.
Hi there! I just had to tell you that I made this chow chow and I couldn't Believe that this is the one I remember my grandmother... made. Huggggggggs
Oh that makes me happy!! Xoxoxo
My jars are cooling and I can't wait to taste .the smell is wonderful Thank you Sweet Lady for all your hard work
Wonderful
Love your kitchen! Thank you for all the great videos. I have made several of your recipes 💕
Thank you! Xoxoxo
Can't wait to make this! I've made it before, but didn't use as many colorful vegetables. This is so pretty and I bet tastes better than it looks!
Yes, my grandparents always had a bottle sitting on their table
I made pepper sauce just the other day! You’re right though, I never hear anyone mention pepper sauce. Occasionally, I hear “pepper vinegar “ and think, ‘noooo, it’s pepper SAUCE’ hahahaha
My mom and aunts made 10+ jars of Chow Chow every year in the summer including fried corn, succotash and green beans for freezing.
😋 white beans and Chow Chow, yummy!
This looks amazing. I have all the ingredients in my house to make this and you’ve inspired me to do so.
My Dad canned the best chow chow. All the vegetables came from his garden. Vadalia onions are the best tasting.
This looks so good! God bless y’all!
I love to watch you and Mr Brown cook .My wife pammy and I love to cook to .
God Bless.
I'm so Glad you liked it! Xoxoxo
Chow Chow, sounds delicious and easy to make! Thank you for sharing this recipe
Another great recipe for chow, chow, 👍
Haven’t made chow chow in a few years. I need to get into the kitchen and get busy! 👍
Four beautiful pints. Thank you.🙏
This looks great! I imagine I would like some diced jalapeños without the seeds. Lots of flavor without so much heat. ☺️
Oh good. Thank you! Xoxoxo
I am hooked too! Just luv it!😍
That makes three of us♡♡♡
My mothers chow chow had onions and cabage. But it was mild hot . But i can not remember what else was in it. But i loved it in my pinto beans. We were food poor so we had pintos alot. So i got to eating them with chow chow .thanks for for this.
Miss Lori , that looks delicious, I had Chow Chow years ago 😋I will be trying this . Thank You 😊
Hi Ms. Lori,
I just had to let you know I made your Chow-Chow, and it was some of the best I have had. Thank you so much for your recipe. We love watching you and Mr. Brown and have learned so much from the both of you.
Thank you both for all you do.
Judy
Dad was just talking about chow chow!
Thank you Bonnie! Xoxoxo
Bought chow chow tonight at krodgers eight dollars figure I can make it this summer..your my first video I watched so I'm going with your recipe....first time watching you ...oh yea Mr brown is a lucky man pretty wife and a ohsome cook ..
Mrs. Lori, are you using the “new” jar lids that don’t require the hot water bath before using?
They say it is not necessary to heat them so she is trying it she said it is a hard habit to break
Never heard of that, but very interesting, xoxoxo
I have heard of bell peppers being called mangoes, and clothes going in the press.
