fifthof Ok. Dimebag was better than both of them combined but and maybe there’s better than Adrian but who else sounds like Dave. His writing of solos and his playing is just incredible. Adrian is a better writer, I prefer daves solos.
I don't believe he is underrated. He is far more humble than all the others and plays for the sake of the music instead of for the sake of his own ego as many did. The issue is that playing for ego gets you more recognition as an individual, but i believe that Maiden without Murray's input is slim to nothingness which surely can't make him underrated even if his presence is more subconscious for many.
Dave...amazing man, so humble and positive. I had the chance to be just a few feet away from him on a concert and it was amazing. The most underrated guitarist!
Dave is a very very underrated player. We know adrian had his solo thing and played with bruce whe they were away from maiden but you never really hear as much about dave. I'd definitely love to see more in depth videos about his style.
Honestly, heavy music or not. Parents should have no worries with these two as role models. Such super solid guys. Even wild stories of women are not rampant computer to other rock gods.

I LOVE Dave Murray!! In my opinion, he is the all-time greatest guitarist in the world! The tone, the speed, the melody, the mood, and the smoothness and accuracy throughout it all. JUST AMAZING!!!!!
Lovely to hear and see these two legends alive and well after nearly 20 years doing this interview I would love them to still be alive in the next twenty years I hope they are. They are the best two guitarists I love how humble they are and nothing is to much trouble for them they are so hard working but so joyful living proof that they are loving what they do they dont tour for the money or retire and watch the money income come running in they do it because they love doing it and love their fans. Dave always have a smile on his face no matter what very joyful person bless them and all the other band members. Thank you Dave and adrian and iron maiden band members blessings to you all ❤❤❤❤❤❤

At the time of this interview Murray and Smith had been playing together for 30 years, since 75 and now they approach 50 years. I saw Maiden for the first time in 1982 and many times but 40 years ago I saw the Powerslave tour and nothing has touched it since.
Raúl Pérez fuck youre a idiot .... in sweden we go * bla bla bla ... eh ... bla bla bla ... eh* in sweden eh is what the english and americans do *u know*
So funny: if you look at Adrian's expression as a response to the question asked at 2:48. He initially never really wanted to go back to that raw sound from the beginning. Adrian has always been the one to conbtribute to Maiden's more progressive albums. He brought the synths on Somewhere in Time and 7th Son, making them 2 of Maiden's most original albums.. In fact, that's why he left Maiden in the first place: they wanted to return to the more early, raw sound and he did not. At least at first. He has always had a very strong opinion about the band's direction and is a perfectionist pur sang, but he isn't as expressive as, for example, Steve and Bruce, so it must have been a very hard decision: leaving Maiden. I guess later when he returned, he must have really regretted the choice he made in the early 1990s and returned, making history again, compromising his principles a bit. So he just looks at Dave: you go ahead and anwer this one :-) Maiden without H is like the Beatles without Paul..
+Pip Master Someone commented he was rather unhappy with the finished work on the production of The Final Frontier...know if there's any truth to this?
I really don't know.. Really liked his progressive influence on Somewhere in Time and 7th Son though. I'm affraid I never heard anything like those brilliant albums ever since..
+Pip Master totally agree. When I listen to SSOASS or Somewhere in Time I still can't believe that they are 25 years old. It's like they were released last month. Then you listen to No Prayer and that's when you realize that something went wrong.
The closest in quality to that era I'd say is AMOLAD. Some others may disagree on the last greatest Maiden album since those first heyday years, but it must be extremely difficult to follow up with outstanding pieces of work such as those...
The best song to date is "Fear of the Dark". Agree? And the album is also popular. Where was Adrian? He did nothing. Also to the 1st Maiden album. Yes a guitarist can bring new styles or sound, but Maiden is 100% Steve (although he is bassist). If he did not exist, we wouldn't hear any Maiden songs. Maiden could continue their success after the departure of Adiran if Bruce remained as their vocal. The fans were sick to hear the voice of Blaze. Imagine "The X Factor and Virtual XI" had Bruce. Blaze was the main cause to lose fans. If someone else (with a good voice) or Bruce did not leave, Maiden would still have been at the best without Adrian. Remember Steve and Dave are the only members to have performed all the albums.
Iron Maiden for an hour? Forget it it. Need 2 at LEAST. Didn't play 2 mins to midnight even with a 20 minute encore and a couple others I'd like to have heard July 5th 2017 Oakland. They're better than ever and got here with zero radio play, just mtv videos in the old days. Much love and respect for the duo here, up the Irons!
Dave’s face reminds me of the cat on Alice in Wonderland. I have the Dave Murray Fender…modest priced guitar, but even against much more $$$ guitars, it’s a workhorse and its finished nice enough to be respectable. Love playing it, love that Fender made the effort to make it a available. Maiden forever!!!
I wonder two things im mad about -how these two weren't include by the rolling stone magazine in the top 100 bigguest guitar players in the history -Wonder when the UK royalty will knight all the iron maiden members, they deserve it more than anyone else
Wish they'd do the next tour like Rush did R40. Do the show in reverse chronological order with gear reflecting what they used during each era. 3 hr show, no opener. I'd pay $200 for GA for that!!
I would love to live in Maui sheesh! who wouldn't? I think he's not very tanned because he's been on the road and I've never seen him very tanned anyway! maybe at various times in the 80's when he was an avid scuba diver there are pictures of him looking a little tan but not much. One thing no one can ever say about the members of maiden is that they're not hard worker's!
Amen to that! I mean, I know he got married in Hawaii in - I think - 1984. Good for him! And in the early days of Maiden, he got the most fan mail :). Maiden weren't known to be hedonistic playboys; Murray once said that he likes to 'retire early after each show and go to bed with a good book.' Plus, I've always liked movies shot in Hawaii, most notably Blue Crush :)!
annoying commenter I wouldn't mind living in Hawaii but I wouldn't choose it. Certainly better than St.Louis where I live. Based on how it looks I would like to live in Austria. Beautiful mountains, weather seems nice. I like experiencing changes in seasons and the tropics don't really provide that. I'd like to travel the world some day if I can afford the cost and time, and I don't want to live in the US forever.

"Hills" can stay away, though... Got tired of that overplayed radio-hit pretty soon after even just becoming a fan. Then again, I wonder if Dave was just saying these things to push people, because now they just did what was basically a "best of" tour again, the "Legacy" one in 2018, and they practically played half of 'Piece of Mind'...
They needed to promoted the tour. Also probably at the time they thought that was the last of those nostalgic tours. But it was such a success that now is part of their business model.
+christschinwon in case youre still wondering, everything went wonderful, the tour will resume in february of 2016 even though his voice is a bit deeper because of the cancer. He is fully recovered.
