"And then you play the game and then you die, and you die, and you die, and you die, and you die again, and this is just the first freaking level!" - SNES Drunk on Contra Hard Corps
I beat Target Earth and Comix Zone. Both are fun games that are still worth playing today. I've also beat Shadow of the Beast, but on the original Amiga release. But that doesn't count here since this is a Genesis list 😊 I think the hardest thing about beating Shadow of the Beast is keeping interest long enough to make it all the way through. It is a very pretty game with a great soundtrack, but the gameplay really isn't very good. Also, kudos to anyone who has ever managed to beat Ghouls'N Ghosts or Contra Hard Corps. I never could get anywhere in either of those games, but I still like to try 😊
@@MakaimuraKiu It probably took 25 or 30 hours of play altogether before I beat the game. The playthrough where I finally beat it took around 5 or 6 hours. And it was not a fun time! But I paid full price for the game, so there was no way I was going to let it beat me. LOL
@@MakaimuraKiu the game itself is hard but they give you lots of opportunity to gain health and free lives……the bosses are fricken ridiculously hard because they take so many hits, and can slice through ol RoboCop in no time.
Of the games listed, I've beaten Ghouls 'N Ghosts, Gain Ground, Comix Zone, Alien Soldier, Streets of Rage 3, Shadow Dancer, Revenge of Shinobi, Kid Chameleon, RoboCop Versus The Terminator, and Adventures of Batman & Robin. As for the other games, Fatal Labyrinth is the only one of the bunch that I have played but never beaten. And of the games I have beaten, Kid Chameleon was the only one that I don't have any video evidence for as I had beaten it at around 2010 when Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection came out.
@@MakaimuraKiu Without a doubt, Adventures of Batman & Robin. That Perfect Playthrough I worked on was beyond brutal. Alien Soldier and Ghouls 'N Ghosts were also fairly punishing.
I've legit beaten Comix Zone, Streets of Rage 3 on the hardest difficulty level, Shadow Dancer, and Revenge of Shinobi. I've beaten the NES version of Battletoads legit, but never actually tried playing the Genesis port. Notes on SoR3, Shadow of the Beast, and Contra Hard Corps. SoR3 also suffered a difficulty increase along with the contend changes from the Japanese version. If you want the best ending in the US version you have to finish the game on the hard difficulty. With Shadoe of the Beast, it was originally a PAL release, and was unoptimized when brought to North America, so it runs 20% faster, increasing the difficulty artificially. Like SoR3 Contra Hard Corps had it's difficulty increased, mainly by removing the three hit system and making it so you die in one hit instead.
Yeo, sometime publishers didn't want kids to rent a game and beat it in a weekend, so they asked developers to increase difficult. For example the monkeys stage on The Lion King (Genesis) is insanely hard compared with the rest of the game.
I've beaten Revenge of Shinobi. The last labyrinth sucks, but it's an easy game. I've also beaten Kid Chameleon. Thing is, if you get the Bloody Swamp level, you're f'd. If you can avoid that level it's pretty easy. And it's a fun game. Contra Hard Corps (Probotector in EU) has multiple endings. Found most of them. It's a fun game.
