    Now normally I like to just wing my videos and don't use a script (maybe you can tell 😅) so I got a good deal on the Padcaster Parrot Teleprompter. So far it's been great, it is so easy to use and it has helped me with my RUclips videos and my professional work. Thanks to my kids for helping me out in this video! Do you use a teleprompter for your video work?

    Love your cheeky style, Dave! I think we have something in common there 😀 Just since I appreciate it so much when somebody adds humour to the information dimension: I would have considered to put the "failed trials to solve the problem" 🙂 from the end to the beginning of the video, because the take #92 bit is how many of us feel... We know that the majority of people does not anymore watch videos until their end, so it can be a good idea to frontload their best parts.

      Ha, that's funny. I know a bunch of people who bought it but do not use it much. I am trying to use it but I am used to just talking to the camera without a script so it's a bit odd. I do like it for client shoots, they seem to really like it.

    Great review, Dave.
    I had gain a huge benefit from using a teleprompter and PPT Mirror software, which levelled up my video quality, especially talking heads, I speak freely and, of course, ‘‘get my messages across’’ in self -produced videos. I display my PowerPoint in reverse or flip it and put my tablet in the teleprompter, as I always have my whole concept in front of camera, I only use bullet points structure to avoid over-scripting myself, and the option is a definitive guide to master proper eye contact with viewers. Which leads my videos to be more natural and conversational. Thank you.

    I kinda want to try it for sure. I 100% am guilty of doing 25 takes for a simple intro ahaha. The skits with your kids were hilarious. Thanks for the vid.

      Thanks Poppy. It really does help cut down on the number of takes. I'll be using it from now on.

    Just thinking about starting in video, but have to admit I wouldn't want to read a script...would feel more natural listing bullet points, plus any stats etc just to keep on track and remember details (ie wgt, size, settings, etc) then speak naturally. But we'll if that still holds after I actually try it...grin.

      I totally agree, I like to use bullet points as well and I like to go off script, but it does really help having a prompter when you want to make sure you get all of your points across. I also wish I was a better writer so my scripts were better 😀

    Dave, what is the lower limit on the focal length it will accept for an APS-C sensor before showing the edges of the box? I am using a Sony A6300 and Sigma 30mm, I need to know what to expect before I would buy it. Thanks !

      I use the Sigma 30mm all the time with my Sony a6400 and FS5 and I have never had any issues with vignetting or edges showing. I try to shoot at f1.6 for the most part and I have never had any problems. I have shot at f1.4 and didn't notice anything. The 30mm is small and light and really gives you an unique look. Plus it's cheapish!

      @@DavidDavies thanks! I ended up getting the pad caster and it indeed looks just fine with the 30mm. Now I gotta practice to not move my eyes too much 😂

    Excellent review Dave,
    Would you worry to use Powerpoint presentation slides in a teleprompter with bullet points using an iPad and PPT Mirror tool? you speak more confidently and maintain eye contact because you always have whole concept in mind.

      That's a great questions, I have never tried that but if you practice with it I think you can get it to work. you are correct about speaking more confidently and the eye contact, for sure.

    I use my phone to record with the back camera, are you aware of any solutions for this?

    How far can you be while still being able to read it comfortably? Does it feel to small at times?

    • @DavidDavies
      @DavidDavies  2 года назад +1

      I have good eye sight so I can read it from twenty feet away. You can increase the font size but I think most people would be comfortable about 7 to 10 feet away. Most of the time I use it about 6 feet away.
