Thanks for watching. I am a big fan of DJI products. I love the Original Osmo Action. After playing with the Action 2 I am starting to come around to it but at first I wasn't sure if it was going to work for me. What about you? Are you a fan of the Action 2?
I was keen to get the Action 2, but I waited for the reviews. As you say, the Action 2 has some great features, but the cost in Canadian dollars made it hard to justify, given that it is not really the rugged, weatherproof system that we associate with "action" cameras. While some things can be fixed in firmware, DJI is stuck with perplexing design choices, such as the lack of removable storage in the main camera module. Furthermore, it seems that GoPro finally got their act together on the Hero 10. I'm sticking with my Osmo Action and Pocket 2 for now. Perhaps the rumoured Pocket 3 will wow us this fall.
Hi Pete, you make some great points. I actually like the idea of just the camera on the Action 2, I love the small form factor but you really need the modules to make it work properly. I still enjoy the Omso Action and the Pocket 2 has been great. I was hoping to use the Action 2 could go on my canoe for my camping channel, but I don't think it will work the way I wanted it to work. Thanks.
Sorry you didn’t like it . I love it for many reasons - sold my GoPros (10 & 9). Use it for cycling, on my helmet, and “adventure “ walking in the hills; excellent results. Solid connection with Mimo app - can see video on app whilst recording etc. I think it could be a game changer in future. Yes, there are some limitations, but hey show me a product that’s perfect for everything in the small video/still camera market. Horses for courses - buy the product that best suits your needs. Perhaps ‘Action 2’ is the wrong name!
When I first bought the Action 2 I thought of all the great places I could attach the camera. Mainly my canoe for canoe camping and the other one was on my bike and bike helmet for when I go Bikepacking. It should be perfect for the bike, nice and light and the app would help very much. I agree calling it the Action 2 may be the wrong idea, maybe it should be a new stand alone device. Happy cycling.
Is it possible to hook up a power brick and an external mic (DJI wireless or Rode Wireless) at the same time? I love how I can with the cynova adapter with my osmo action 1. That's a big deal for me fishing to get good audio and not have to sync it up in post.
I haven't tried the power brick and external mic, I am not sure. That's a good question. Are you planning on attaching the camera to your boat when you fish?
@@DavidDavies I like to have it on my hat or on the kayak somehow. Unfortunately DJI has said that you can't do both. The best bet at the time with DJI would be using an external mic to record but syncing it up later and powering the camera. However, long footage would cause heat issues for my scenario so my best bet would be the GoPro 10. Testing that myself it'll work long term for recording. Really wanted to support DJI as I love their Action 1 camera and the updates they provided. I know GoPro almost ditches their existing products because they just release new ones annually. I can wish that maybe the 3rd gen DJI cam will be more like the Osmo Action 1 and maybe I'll get that if that is the case in the future though.
There’s still a chance DJI can somehow fix this camera with firmware updates, even if it takes months to do. Is it acceptable? absolutely not should of being fantastic day one but if they can make the camera work then awesome.
Ya that's a good point. Perhaps future firmware updates will fix some of the problems. I really like the idea of just the small camera itself, it has a lot of potential. I guess we will have to wait and see
First, it's best to forget the name. That's where DJI messed up. It's a whole new thing, and it certainly has just about nothing to do with the Action 1. Second... you seem to have a very good idea of what your video requirements are - the definition of "the job" - but you've listed a load of things which make this the wrong tool for your 'job' - none of which, apart from the overheating thing (which is down to the laws of physics) should have come as a surprise. But you bought it anyway. Well, I guess you are a collector of small cameras - just like me... Third - I've not had any overheating issues here in the Australian summer - but that's using it the way I use it. YMMV. We shall see. I look forward to your summer update!
Thanks Peter. You make a good point about my video, I talked about how this wouldn't do the job for "ME" but it may work for someone else. I guess we do like collecting small cameras! I was really hoping to use this camera on my canoe for my camping channel. I wish I could use just the camera without the modules. Who knows maybe I will be able to use it next season. Have a great summer...while I am freezing in our Canadian winter!

What a cute little camera!
Damn your product shots look so crisp, really well done.
Thanks Shane, the product shots are actually a lot of fun to shoot.
