I read a memoir from a former Wehrmacht sniper where he depicts a scene in which he was granted leave and before he left, he handed over his sniper rifle to a greenhorn sniper that came as part of the replacements. After his leave, he managed to returned to his unit and he asked around for the sniper that he gave his rifle to before he left. They told him he went "hunting" and didn't came back. A few days later, a German patrol came across his body. It was believed that he was captured, tortured and the rifle was forced up his rectum so hard that the only part left was the trigger and the rifle butt. The sniper mentioned that he used to scribe the number of kills he got onto the rifle butt. After this incident, riddled with guilt, he stopped counting his kills.
I really like these videos but I think you should also continue with the footage+music videos. Those were very intense and impressive but I like those too. Anyway, good job and thanks for keeping WWII alive.

Russia, Finland, Germany, Japan, UK, and even USA had some pretty good snipers... many kept a low profile DURING the war as if they were captured they would be shot immediately, especially if you were captured by an enemy who had less respect for POW's.

Some guy in a forum wrote to the department and shared his results. There was no Major Erwin Konig, or as other sources call him: Erwin König, Erwin Koning, Heinz Thorvald. There was also no german Sniper school near Zossen. Its a soviet myth, the poor famer son Zaitsev kills the Major König (King). A great heroic communist story as always....
There really wasnt any proof Erwin König ever existed. This was acknowledged in the book Enemy at the Gates: Battle of Stalingrad by William Craig and David Baker. Zaytsev was real but this story probably was just a morale booster. Great video though.
Thanks for a great video. Russian snipers were amazing. The Russian military leaders were ahead of the game by keeping and training their snipers. It’s possible for a single sniper to slow and temporarily stop opposing armies. With a large number of snipers they can stop an army for extended periods of time. This has been proven during every conflict and battle since firearms have been developed. The Russians were so successful because of the training they received, their intelligence in adapting and overcoming obstacles, and their patriotism. Not patriotism to their government per se (it would have been a small percentage that had any positive feelings towards Stalin the murderer) but true patriotism to their neighbors and fellow countrymen…. I’m glad that the USA was able to help the Russian army and people by entering the war and taking some German armies from the eastern front. It is too bad that governments around the world can’t set aside their differences and let the citizens of all countries unite into one global humanity.
Snipers in wars may sound good. You are fighting an army. Armies retaliate. You are shooting at an army from hidden places. The results in PUNITIVE retaliation from the other side in the area villages from there the snipers had fired his or her sniper gun. In other words, they haven't mentioned how many neighborhood villagers were killed in retaliation by the Nazis. For every one sniper kill, about 100 villagers may have been killed by the Nazis in retaliation. Shooting at a Nazi sentry is not always a good idea. I she killed 300 Nazi guards and Nazi officers, there may have been 30,000 villagers killed as punitive punishment in retaliation for the killing of Nazi officers. If an Nazi officer are killed by a sniper, there is punitive retaliation. In videos of village grave sites in rural Belarus, there are hundreds of villages with huge numbers of village burial sites with pictures of victims engraved in grave stones. Some of these villagers may have been killed because of sniper activity. RUclips enthusiasts sees some village graveyards in videos of "Bald and Bankrupt.". Some villagers were killed due to sniper activity, I am sure during Nazi occupation.
i still don't get the Why soviet sniper is better. the have weaker sniper gun than russian, russian snipers went thru the same training, deployment and strategic location.
This is echo chamber of old Soviet propaganda. It was nothing there. They were pretty comparable to Germans. Soviets always wanted to portrait themselves as the best in the world, which was a Soviet lie about everything.

The German where just as good but they never had enough and good winter gear. If wasn’t Germany created a three front war they could never have won. There leader knew they could win the war on three fronts.
the Germans had the most developed army in the world at the time. It's hard to believe they didn't had winter gear. Also consider that Germany isn't hot in the summer either

Yeah, that was the thing. The soviets had massive amounts of Marksmen shooters, main correlation to their success.
