I have been watching sewing videos all day and it has been frustrating, confusing, overly complex. Your video for this wrap skirt is so beautifully shown, easy to follow, easy to understand. THANK YOU. Out of hours of frustration, thank you immensely.
Hi, I just want to say thank you. I am a complete beginner with a sewing machine (let alone making clothing) and you just helped me make my lockdown wedding skirt 😄 it’s beautiful and I made it in a day (including having to fix my blunders!). It’s the first piece of clothing I’ve ever made and I love it! Thank you! 🙏
This has made my week!!! Congratulations on making your first clothing item and double congratulations on your wedding!!! I am seriously so honored that my project had a part in your special day - it means the world to me and I really appreciate you letting me know 😊 If you’d ever like to share a picture of it I would love to see. Thank you so much and I wish you all the love and happiness in your marriage! 💕
You have got to be one of the TOP sewing tutorial RUclipsrs of all time! I love watching your channel. You are so organized and you make it all "sew" easy to understand! Thank you, Monika! ♡♡♡
Aw you have no idea how much that means to me, thank you! 😊 I truly appreciate it. Thank you so much for watching my channel and leaving such kind words!
I learned to sew when I was little by hand but I recently got a sewing machine and after MANY videos of other people making tutorials I was lost 😂😂 I found your page and I was able to quickly understand your method and I made my first skirt with your help!!!
As always you have done a spectacular job. You talk slowly and clearly and I love the fact that you were considerate enough to say hey be mindful of your settings when you iron your fabric. Your tutorials are always fun and easy to follow and I love the outtakes that you do as well. It makes you so relatable. I sincerely hope that you and your family are safe and happy and healthy during these trying times
This tutorial is AMAZING. Thank you for the reminders to press! I used this video to make a lined ribbon skirt for my daughter for this weekend. It turned out beautifully, thanks to your clarity and great camera shots.
Great tutorial! I was stumped with the box pattern companies’ wrap skirts. Entirely too complicated. Your version came out beautifully! So happy to a found this video. Thanks again!
I saw an awesome hack for gathering, incredibly easy and works perfectly. Use long piece of dental floss and stitch to edge to be gathered about 1cm from edge, using a wide zigzag stitch over the dental floss, taking care not to stitch into the floss, just across the top of it. Pull on the cord-floss to evenly and very easily gather up the fabric. No broken threads to deal with, floss slides easily through the zigzag stitches!😊👍Note, you don't have to remove the floss afterwards. Ps, wonderful video, and you are a delightful young lady 😊💖
Lovely to see your smiling face during this lock down Monika! This is a beautiful project for the spring/summer months and gives us something to keep us occupied! As always your tutorials are so clear and easy to understand! You are doing a great service and I am very grateful for that! Stay safe and well, as always, TFS 👍❤
Thank you for this- I was looking for a simple wrap skirt like this that I can use as a cover up when I go to the middle east but everything in the shops is either frilly or shows a lot of leg. Now I can just get some fabric and make my own.
My dear, thank you so much for your wonderful tutorial! Your voice is so soothing, along with your taking the time to explain the gathering, etc. so that everyone can do this! HUGS!!
Aw thank you for the lovely comment! It means a lot to me, especially since the majority of comments I get on my voice are not particularly nice... I'm so happy this was helpful for you! Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment! 😊
I am going to make a wrap towel for my daughter's birthday tomorrow and will use your technique. Thank you. I will be watching your videos as they are simple and helpful. Have a great day and keep sewing! :o)
This is seriously the DIY I've been waiting for. I bought some beautiful sari fabric in India in 2012 with the intention of making a wrap skirt. However, I've been terrified to do it because I knew I could never get the fabric again! I spent 4 hours making it today and it's amazing!!! Thank you so much for sharing such a great tutorial (the basting-stitch part was the most helpful). If you have an IG, let me know and I'll tag you in it :)
Oh my goodness this is such a great comment to read!!! It makes me so happy to hear you were finally able to use the fabric and it means a lot that my tutorial helped 😊 I do have an IG and I’d love to see it! It’s @comicatcreations
Nice and easy to make. I'm going to add interfacing to waistband; my fabric is lightweight and that will prevent the puckering when doing the buttonhole.
Well done Monica!! 👏👏 This is lovely, and I know my daughter will love this, so I will make her one...( & one for me too!!) You make everything look so easy with your excellent tutorials. Thank you so much. Sending love from the UK to all, and stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏❤
I'm no seamstress but the only difference I would make is to have put the wrap all the way through the waist tube for extra strength. Idk if it'd require more sewing to keep it from twisting inside. This tutorial rocks, btw n I'm definitely trying this.
This is so lovely pls can you also make an updated tutorial for a sweetheart dress or top please And also a mermaid shaped skirt or dress as well. You are the best teacher ever 😘
@@ComicatCreations Thanks for your reply. pls also add how to sew baloon sleeves /puff sleeves to your list...I want to come out of quarantine slaying all the outfits I learn from your videos🤣

Hi! I just subscribed to your channel bc I love your easy to follow patterns! I am a beginner sewer and hope to learn something fun and simple from your videos😊
Thank you so much for subscribing, I’m so happy to have you here on my channel! 😃 I hope you’ll have fun learning sewing and making projects! Happy sewing!
I love this! Only thing that makes me nervous is the gathering. I have never been able to gather the way you do. I break the thread or somehow pull a thread all the way out 🤣🙄
Thank you! I used to have that problem with gathering too!!! It would drive me crazy and I would avoid making gathering projects. For whatever reason I don’t have that problem on my newer sewing machine, so I wonder if I didn’t have it set up right on my other machine or maybe I was using bad thread that would break easily, I’m not sure. I do remember seeing a tip last year somewhere (I can’t remember where I saw it, but it looks like there are several sewing tutorials on this method) that suggested gathering fabric by sewing long wide zigzag stitches over a piece of string or yarn and then pulling on the yarn to gather the fabric, rather than doing it the way I show. I think the point is that the yarn won’t break easily like the thread would. It might be worth a shot to look it up and give it a try!
Monica, you are so sweet, the wrap skirt is lovely. I don’t wear dresses or skirts anymore but would wear this with leggings underneath in the warmer weather.
Haha it’s really not too hard! I’ve seen several great recreations of this skirt since I’ve posted it so I’m sure you can make one too 😃 I used to be so afraid of buttonholes and avoided them because they seemed intimidating but they were so much easier than I expected once I read my manual to see how to make one and actually tried. My best tip is to practice a few times on a scrap of your fabric that you’ve folded in half just like the waistband to learn how to do a buttonhole. I got the hang of it quickly and now I love making them 😄 Also, I think I mentioned this in the video but if you’re using a really light fabric and it seems like the buttonhole isn’t sewing right because the fabric is too light, you can put a small piece of interfacing on the back of the waistband where you’re sewing the buttonhole and that will strengthen the fabric so it sews better! Good luck, you’ve got this!
Comicat Creations I appreciate that! I JUST started sewing and used your halter top video to make my own! And I did it!! So this is my next project and it looks so daunting but I’m gonna go for it! Thank you!!
I know I shouldn't laugh, but, you keep getting bugs come at you, maybe change your perfume. Lol. This Maxi Skirt is beautiful, such a pretty fabric. 🤗 This would be a great skirt at any length too. Wow, such a great design! I've got my fabric and will give it a go. I've recently started making clothes and this will be the perfect project! I have a question though - when the fabric is wrapped around, does that make the bottom uneven and would I need to compensate for that when hemming?
Thanks, I hope you have fun making it! I didn't have any problems with the bottom being uneven on mine after it all gathered together. You could always cut it a few inches longer than you think you'll want it to be just in case you need to adjust anything and then trim and hem the bottom edge after you've been able to try it on to make sure it's exactly the length you want, that way those few extra inches ensure that it doesn't wind up too short on accident!
