I would say another tip is to put a fusible interface to where you're going to make the button hole having a backing will make it easier to make and provide more stability. Thank you for your tutorial. You are awesome
Oh thank you so much, your comment has just made my day 😊 I’m really happy you enjoy the videos and find them helpful! I will definitely keep making them as long as I can! Have a wonderful weekend!
I love this tutorial. Well done! I've watched lots of wrap skirt tutorials, and I LOVE the finish you gave this fun skirt with the bias tape. This is the way!
Thank you so much! This is the best tutorial for a wrap skirt I have seen. Other tutorials I've watched made the measurements look difficult. Your explanation was perfect! Have an awesome day! Thank you again.
Wow! Just gave you e-hugs right now! I've been so scared to try out a wrap skirt cos I didn't quite understand other tutorials but as usual you have made this as easy as ABC! Thanks Monica! You teach beautifully!
Aw thank you Myrtle, your comment made me smile!! I'm so glad this was easy for you to follow and not too intimidating 😃I hope you make one of your own!!! Good luck and happy sewing!
Yeas!! This is great, I’m just beginning to experiment with sewing. I love how in depth you were, the steps are clear, and easy to follow. Merci merci bisous !
I’m so glad to hear you’re getting into sewing!!! It’s so much fun and has brought me so much joy so it always makes me happy when other people discover it too 😄 I’m so glad this tutorial was clear for you to follow and I hope you have fun making one! Thank you so much for watching my channel, and happy sewing!
So cute!! And as someone who is constantly losing and gaining weight, I love how easy it would be to change the size of the skirt by moving the buttonhole :) Thanks Monika!
Thanks!!! I'm glad you like it 😃Yes I think it would be pretty longer too!! Thanks for your kind words as always and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!!
I have just discovered your channel and have quickly found several projects that I am going to make. I love how you clearly explain each step, and why you need to do certain things. I also really love that you wear/model each item that you make, showing that the pattern/design actually works! Thanks also for sharing your measurements - I find that really helpful.
Welcome - thank you for watching my channel! I’m so glad you’ve found projects you’d like to make 😃 It’s so great to hear that the details are helpful and also that wearing them is too! I wear everything I make so might as well show it on camera 😄 Happy sewing and stay safe!
Yay I'm so happy you're gonna make this! I love this style, I've since made another one in solid black to go with colorful tops 😃 Thank you for watching and happy sewing!
Hmm I haven’t made a skort before!! But I like the idea 😃 I’ll definitely write it down so if I get the time eventually I can experiment and see if I can make one. Thanks for the suggestion!
I would love a tutorial on how to make the top you are wearing! I know how to shirr, so I am more interested in the construction. Going to start on the skirt today!
Thank you for the request! I actually didn't make this top - I think I bought it from JC Penney a couple summers ago. I haven't tried to shirr yet, it has always intimidated me even though I want to practice! I do have an off the shoulder crop top tutorial with knit fabric that I made this past summer but it's a bit different of a style than this one... but in case you're interested, here's the link to it: ruclips.net/video/q-x7lT_TYEg/видео.html Sorry I don't have this style in a tutorial!
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much for making such clear instructions and going at a nice pace. I was using a book to try to learn to sew a skirt and didn’t understand it at all. This video has helped a lot!
@@ComicatCreations could I use a stretchier fabric with the skirt? I've only got a stretchy poly cotton and I don't really have the money to go out and buy more fabric
This is great, loverly patterened fabric too. I've some fabric that'll make a nice Winter skirt version of this. Your so clever. 🤗 Thanks for sharing this tutorial. & take care to. ❤🙂🐶
Thanks so much for watching this tutorial too 😃 I’d love to see the winter skirt you make whenever you make it!! I think I’ll have to make a version for winter too to wear with tights and boots, you’ve inspired me! Take care too and have a wonderful weekend!
@@ComicatCreations Thank you for making this tutorial. My local fabric shop still has summer fabrics, mostly, but I'm waiting & watching for some nice tweeds or tartans to turn up. 🤗 You have a wonderful weekend yourself to. Take care. ❤🙂🐶
Oooh Monika this is so cute! I live in the southern hemisphere but I'm going to Norway for a month in July so I need some more summer clothes. Definitely going to make this!!! :D
Aw thank you! I’m glad you’re gonna make one 😃 I bet you’ll enjoy getting into some summer weather for a bit... I would live in summer forever if I could 😄 I was thinking when it gets colder here I might make a winter version of this skirt with some darker fabric that could be warn with tights and boots, too. I’d love to hear how yours goes or see a pic if you’d like to share one when you make it! Happy sewing and I hope you have a wonderful & safe trip to Norway!!!
Thanks!! I'll keep that in mind :) I'm working on a project now that may feature a high low hem that you could use combined with this tutorial to make a high low wrap skirt. If that project works out I'll let you know how I'd recommend you combining them to make the high low wrap skirt!
I'm so glad to have this tutorial posted! I made this skirt well over a month ago and it's taken a while to edit, but I hope you like it 😃Also, make sure to check out my last video to enter my giveaway to win a $35 LA Finch Fabrics gift card! Thank y'all for watching and happy almost summer!!!
This is actually a top I bought. I was going out of town and didn’t have time to find fabric to make a matching top too... I had gotten this one from JCPenney in the spring and it wound up matching nicely! I’ve never really tried shirring before but I’ll have to start practicing and if it’s something I can get the hang of I’ll try to incorporate it into a tutorial some day! Thanks for the request!
Sorry this is such a delayed response, I'm just seeing your question! I think that would work well, the only difference will be that it won't be as full/structured with the crinkle rayon... it'll be more flowy. I used a lighter weight fabric to make another version of this instead of the thick cotton and it worked great, it just wasn't as flared out since it was a less structured fabric.
I actually didn’t make that top - I bought it from JC Penney! I haven’t played around learning shirring yet which this top has but I could add an off shoulder crop top to my list of future tutorials that would look somewhat similar to this, just without the shirring 😃
Such a great project and clearly explained tutorial, thanks so much! Yu look so lovely! I am planning to make a few of these for Xmas gifts but was hoping to make them double sided. How would you recommend doing that? Was thinking to delay adding the bias tape at the bottom and add the waist band first, then attach the fabric I am using for the reverse by stitching wrong sides together at the bottom and reversing, then folding the raw edge at the waist under and top stitching to hide the raw edge of the skirt and waist band. Then I can decide if I want to add bias tape at the bottom or decorative top stitch. What do you think? Would love to see a tutorial on this if you ever have time :)
Thank you so much! So sorry I’m so behind on comments, I’d been under the weather and I am just trying to catch up. Although I haven’t made one reversible I think that you’re on the right track with how you’re planning to do it - from what I can picture in my head without actually trying it it sounds like that may work! I’m excited to hear you’ll be making them for Christmas presents - so nice of you to make handmade gifts and I’m sure everyone will love them! Good luck!
