- A traditional natural remedy for gas, flatulence, bloating due to eating beans has been Epazote. This traditional Central American culinary herb has been used for millennia in black bean dishes and adds that taste you may have experienced at Mexican restaurants. It has been said that it would be "unthinkable" to make black beans with out this herb.
The epazote plant I have withstand the heat in Phoenix Arizona. And it's been growing for 6 years. It is literally a bush
Wow I did not know they could live so long. Too cold by me so they die back every year.
@HealthAndHomestead Yeah I didn't either, but I planted it straight into the ground in Arizona claydirt with compost. The stem is literally 1 inch thick. Also the crazy part I'd that this plant has survived 123° Fahrenheit weather.
It really is a miracle plant.
Put a leaf or two of Epazote in your quesadillas and they will taste 10x better.
There are a lot more benefits I learn in Spanish channels from common people. Thanks
In Morocco it have a name that corelate with bad smell too, but it's the number one remedy for fever and headaches.
Hang the plant upside down then collect the seeds when it is 100% dry
This herbs also help for covid patients to cure fastly with in week.
Can’t wait to hear about fasting! Hope you discuss long term juice fasting and if it’s beneficial or is more frequent short term fasting better...Also loved this episode, I didn’t know about the benefits of epazote and preserving beans.
Glad you enjoyed it. I am actually quite excited to share the info on fasting. There is so much amazing research that has been done on the subject.
Just rewatched this episode. Did you ever post a video on fasting? Thanks!
In Greece, a method to reduce gases is to boil the beans once, throw the water, maybe repeat one more time (it's up to preference) and then cook it seasoned.
Sounds like a great plan. My wife did that yesterday. Thanks for sharing.
Loved the video! Great information, I ordered some seeds just to see what I smell when I grow them. There is always a taste in my favorite Mexican foods I can't replicate, hopefully this is what I have been missing. Keep up the great videos.
A common name for epazote goes "fetid goat's foot".
I have to admit, its tastes like tcp. So, probably does keep things fresh
I bought Pazote to dewarm my chicks
Can you tell us in what amounts to be safe for chicks or chickens;D
This is great info thank you

Where can I get organic Epazote?
It grows like crazy everywhere, just scatter the seeds in soil and you will get infinite supply
Grow it, it's easy. I'm in the UK, it grows here.
