  • A traditional natural remedy for gas, flatulence, bloating due to eating beans has been Epazote. This traditional Central American culinary herb has been used for millennia in black bean dishes and adds that taste you may have experienced at Mexican restaurants. It has been said that it would be "unthinkable" to make black beans with out this herb.

Wow I did not know they could live so long. Too cold by me so they die back every year.

@HealthAndHomestead Yeah I didn't either, but I planted it straight into the ground in Arizona claydirt with compost. The stem is literally 1 inch thick. Also the crazy part I'd that this plant has survived 123° Fahrenheit weather.
It really is a miracle plant.

Can’t wait to hear about fasting! Hope you discuss long term juice fasting and if it’s beneficial or is more frequent short term fasting better...Also loved this episode, I didn’t know about the benefits of epazote and preserving beans.

In Greece, a method to reduce gases is to boil the beans once, throw the water, maybe repeat one more time (it's up to preference) and then cook it seasoned.

Loved the video! Great information, I ordered some seeds just to see what I smell when I grow them. There is always a taste in my favorite Mexican foods I can't replicate, hopefully this is what I have been missing. Keep up the great videos.
