I am new to black smithing and this is the first gas Forge I have ever bought. I am so glad I watched because I would have had no idea what rigidizing fluid was and would have just painted the cement on without it. Thanks for the knowledge.
How did it hold up?
Have a good day in the Forge, Troy and Eli!!
Thank you Sam!
Love tuels day ! You gotta love a forge when the burner can double as a didgeridoo😊
Yessir! Always finding different uses for tools in the shop
Very nice job reviewing and testing it out Barr Run Boys. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friends. Forge on. Fab on. Weld on. Keep forge lit. Keep making. God bless.
Thanks Jared!
Thanks for the review. I'm always worried about the inherent risk of buying cheaper when it comes to tools but in this case it looks like my worries were unfounded.
Thanks Will! The quality of it was surprisingly good
Thanks for this!!! I just bought one and was anxious about setting it up (visual learner).
Excellent! Hope it helped. God bless.
Awesome video. Thank you.
BARF forever.
Thank you Bluebs!
Nice may get one!!
Just bought the 2 burner version of this. For the last few years I've been using a home made helium bottle forge, but wanted to upgrade to a 2 burner design. Probably would have been cheaper just to add another burner to mine, but this one seems more compact. Looking forward to giving it a go, once I've got the refractory cement applied.
Very nice! Enjoy and God bless
Good video! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thanks for checking it out!
i was looking for a budget propane forge, this video helped me lot. thank you for sharing detailed info
Our pleasure. God bless and thank you.
Just bought this for a hobbyist knife maker. Great review thanks
Good news. We think it will serve well. Enjoy and thanks for watching.
Thank you so much sir
I have the double burner version, it works very well out of the box. My only complaint is that it didn't come with a rigidizer for the wool layer to compact it, and the position of the burners would have been more efficient on the side, that way when it was on it would have created a whirlpool effect in the forge. That way you heat up your material faster.
Excellent video, thank you.
Our pleasure.
Was exactly what i needed
That’s great! I hope this helped.
Good assembly video. 90-degee brass fittings are readily available so there's no need to have the fuel gas hose stick straight up if that gets in the way of convenient placement.
A couple of notes, first you can take the wool out of this forge. Makes it a LOT easier to soak with the rigidizer. The slightly tough part is putting it back in, but wasnt too hard. The other kote, is Mr. Volcano provides instructions kn how to apply the stuff and the cement for their forges, given this is essentially a clone, the instructions are compatible.
I bought the 2 burner version of this. It didn't come with refractory but luckily I already had some
Im curious to the best steel to use for beginners? Ive got some 1095 flat bars now but just bought this forge and new to this. Quenching oil?
I've been looking at a cheap single burner for heat treat of knives under about 200mm. Would this suit? How even is the heating from the centre out?
I just bought one today on the vevor site for $64.04 total price. I don't know how I go wrong for my first forge to get started.
I bought the double burner of vevo, and it comes with a much tighter wo0l & no cement & no information on it. I must not need the cement? I do have cement fondu & was thinking of adding that, not sure yet.
Subbed
Oh!! A third comment. The red knob on the regulator has an open/closed setting. You need to have that turned correctly. Took me more than a minute to figure that out.
What size bag of refractory cement will be big enough to cover the forge please my friend?
The one from walmart doesn't come with the refactor cement. i bet they sell that on the side
It seems like they’re no longer including refractory in the kit from what I’ve heard.
How long would a propane tank last on a forge like this? Forgive my ignorance, I'm trying to figure out the operational costs.
Well it seems to be a pretty good investment.
2 questions.
1st would it be advantageous to purchase say about 4 or 6 fire bricks to go with the forge? To seal up the front n rear openings as needed for heat and wind controls?
2nd, is there a concern or recommendation for removing the burner to prevent stove pipe effect and possibly damaging the burner and or the propane hose?
God bless y'all now
Crawford out 💯🙏🏻🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Yes we have a couple fire bricks to close it up and contain the heat
I didn’t notice any stovepiping but we haven’t ran it for a long duration yet.
Maybe in an update video we will address those, thanks Crawford!
I have the Mr. Volcano. This actually looks pretty sweet for a little single burner
Yes sir. We are quite impressed, so far. Thanks for watching!
What size stock do you think it can heat 2 inches hammer build
It does have a small chamber but I believe a 2 inch billet would fit fine
just coated mine with the cement last night, not sure if i got the cement mixture right or not :o how much water did you add when you mixed your cement?
Just based it off of the consistency of the mixture. You want it to be like runny peanut butter
@@BarrRunForge sweet, I ended up just going for it and that's about what I had! Not sure if I got it coated perfectly, but I can get more refractory cement at Menards if I need it
i already bought this but dont wanna spend any more money on getting started blacksmithing, can i get by without the rigidizer?
I wouldn’t recommend it. The rigidizer helps the ceramic fiber from melting and the fumes can be toxic.
Why would you even consider not using it? Its not expensive
@@rastamon5969 agreed.
The only problem I had with this video is when you put on the thread tape. I whinced when I saw you wrapping it around the fitting the wrong direction.
A little small!
I got it and it didn't come with any cement what do I do
I’d say contact Vevor or Amazon.
@@BarrRunForge is it safe to use without it
just bought the two burner vevor, didnt come with rigidizer and im concerned
I recommend a rigidizer in the video from Mr Volcano since Vevor does not provide it.
@@BarrRunForge but how needed is it? and where to find it in europe? bought the three burner edition but installation instructions are poor and no liquid nor mention of the liquid and cement
@@yoerim360I didn’t use rigidizer on mine… I think you just have to be a little more careful while inserting items and not bumping into not the sides too hard. It would likely chip off the cement if you aren’t careful.
So basically after a week it usable!
It varies depending how fast the rigidizer and refractory take to set. Usually it’s better to be on the safe side just so everything cures fully. Thanks and God Bless!
How long would a 20lb cylinder last?
It should last hours. The issue would the tank icing up before you actually ran out of fuel
It's available in India 😢
