  • Hey guy's! In this video I'll go over the basic set up of this Amazon duel burner forge.
    I was super impressed with this little thing!
    It heats up in about 10 minutes (depending on how hot you set your regulator) and does a great job for small, and medium size blades/tools ECT.
    if you wanted to, you could easily use it on larger things as well.
    I've personally found that a 20LB Propane tank will run a SINGLE burner between 4 & 6 hours of use. Again, this is all dependent on how hot you run the forge.
    Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you may have in the comments, and I'll answer them the best I can! Thanks For Watching, and I'll See You On The Next Video!
    -Sam

    I’m really loving all of this getting back to working with our hands more and re learning lost knowledge. The past few years I heavily dove into woodworking and now blacksmithing and I love it. I love making things and watching other people just like me. Great video! I really feel like there will be a shift in our society towards making more of our own things and growing our own foods in our own communities. Everyone can contribute with their own expertise! Let’s get to learning!

    dude, i love it. im about to start a shop with a friend and your video fortified my hopes that an amazon forge will be something i can work with. i plan on bricking around mine with fire brick and using the same material for a makeshift door

    Cant wait to see how you develop. I started out full throttle making my own forge from scraps and spent over $1000 learning how to do it all wrong lmao. Made a ribbon burner forge that worked amazing but sold it like an idiot. Now I plan to get an Amazon special and make another forge press since I sold that as well lol. Take it slow and learn the basics. Looking forward to more and see your progress.

      I've been trying to learn as much as I can! Definitely a slow, time consuming process. I've had plenty of wasted materials so far..
      But I'm getting better! I love hearing opinions, and getting comments about the things I do. I've always enjoyed making videos, and I thought it would be fun to share this experience.

    Hey man,
    Thanks for the great review. You've got skill. Sadly, I've gotta say I don't think you put refractory cement over Kao wool. I use refractory cement inside my mini firebrick forges I build straight onto the brick, but puffy insulation probably shouldn't be compacted. I was actually given a very similar forge and wondered why the heck it came with the refractory powder. You can buy some scrap Kao wool at some places ( or a roll on Amazon) and reline over the refractory cement and your single burner should get WAY hotter...as in possibly forge weld hot, but make sure to buy some of that crazy expensive rigidizer to spray over the wool for your health and safety. Just my 2 cents. Looks like you're rockin the leaf smithing. Best of luck to you.

    • @saometalworks
      @saometalworks  2 года назад

      It only makes a thin layer solid, and leaves the rest puffy. It helps hold heat, and prevent tiny wool particles from flying around all the time. I watched plenty of reviews on it before I messed with it! I wasn't going to at first, but I quickly realized how much dust that stuff putts off..

    Good stuff love to see more people making things and learning. One thing I will say is don't use a glove on your hammer hand. You will strain your arm way more than you need to trying to grip.

    That steel in your forge is maybe not a great idea unless you turn the forge on and off a lot and want it to retain heat with sporadic use. Adding it robs the workpiece of heat, as it absorbs a lot of the heat in the forge. It will take longer to get up to temperature, but will stay hot for longer in there if you keep turning off and on. It may also be detrimental if you plan on doing forge welding, as it won't get hot enough in the centre

    • @saometalworks
      @saometalworks  2 года назад

      The KAO wool is usable without coating it in anything. HOWEVER, it is also terrible for your health, and I wouldn't recommend anyone use it without coating it.
      It's a very easy process, and is ready to go 24hr after you apply it. Don't be afraid to try it out! It's much easier than you think! 👍

    You should really get a 12" piece of pipe and extend the gas line from the burner with it. Then hook your hose to the extension, if not the heat will rise and soften the rubber tube and it WILL come loose. Ive seen it several times and it is dangerous as F. Kaowool is highly toxic and should be handled with a respirator and NOT a dust mask. Also the steel in your forge needs to go as it will absorb the heat and not reflect it like the refractory does. The steel is ruining the effectiveness of the forge by absorbing and not reflecting. Also forced induction burners are far more effective as they do not rely on atmospheric pressure to operate correctly and they will use way, way, way less fuel.
    Forge On!!!
