  • In today's video I head to Morrisons, but I am peckish as I haven't yet had breakfast. Luckily this branch of Morrisons has a cafe.
    I decide to try the Ultimate Breakfast, which costs just £7.00. Could be a bargain...
    Just hold the mushrooms yeah....

    Do you think this breakfast was good value for money?

    • @GreenoEats

      And should they have swapped the mushroom for the bread, rather than charging me?

      @@GreenoEats It is always worth asking if they could swap something you don't want for something you do. On the whole, they are pretty accommodating with things like that. I would have swerved the shrooms and tomato, and down south probably the black pudding too. Up north is a different story. They tend to cook it better up here as they are more used to it.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  6 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah, should have asked to swap. I want to try one of those Morrisons that basically have a food court in them, only get them up North I think?

    Having been dragged around various supermarkets I reckon having a breakfast is a just reward.
    So far, Morrisons Ultimate is top of my league. Was gagging for fried bread but wife put her foot down due to health reasons so I thought sod it, replaced with slice of toast and ordered 2 more slices .... together with an extra egg (mandatory for me), sausage and bacon.
    English Breakfast is a military operation for me - slice toast in half then slice each half into 4 pieces and put whatever combination I want on each slice.
    Have to say, I found it quite hard to move afterwards.

    Just stumbled on this review on my feed. I think Morrisons offer the best breakfast options of the big 4 and where I live are those only ones that still have a cafe. It’s an average breakfast but the price is good and handy if you are doing a big shop as well. Their coffee is good.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  11 дней назад +1

      Yeah, I was surprised by how decent it was for a supermarket cafe, as a rule the cafes don’t really inspire you to shop in the supermarket do they!

    Me and my wife stumbled across this a couple of weeks ago in Weymouth and for the money i would happily say the best I've ever had. More recently I had another breakfast in a different cafe and it cost £13 for the equivalent.

    Loaf crusts tend to get used for croutons in this house..! It's good for beans on toast too, beacuse it concaves when you toast it and turns into a shallow bowl that keeps the beans in check.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  6 месяцев назад +3

      Oh yes, the crust is elite for beans on toast. Or even as toast with LOTS of butter, again acting as a recepticle to hold the molten butter in. Don't know why more people don't make their own croutons, great way to use up older break, no real effort and soooo much better than shop bought.

    The end slice in a loaf is the crust. As it is usually a wee bit thicker, it is an excellent choice for fried bread.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  6 месяцев назад +2

      I agree, I call it the crust.I never use if to make fried bread though, as the crust side of it goes a bit hard when you fry it in a pan. But as I guess this was deep fried that wasn't an issue here :-)

      Ooh, I do like Ayrshire. Been up there a couple of times with work, but the best time was when a buddy of mine got married at the Brig o Doon hotel. I remember once staying in Ayr at a place called Fairfield House I think, cracking full Scottish breakfast there!

    Yep Fairfield in Ayr is lovely, such a nice menu. And Brig o doon is legendary in these parts, super popular for weddings, altho they did tart up their function suite recently much to the annoyance of folk who had booked their weddings based on the old look! I'm in Kilmarnock, a lot less glamorous than Ayr!

    13 items. for £8 or 61p each item.
    you would have thought 2 eggs. really should have been a slice of fried bread not the crust. bet it has more fat in it so even less healthy for you.
    I would not have paid the extra £1 for just some bread. that is something if you know you are coming for breakfast just bring 2 slices with you in a bag. you are looking at a £10 loaf of bread.

    • @GreenoEats

      I was surprised thaqt their Ultimate Breakfast would have 3 sausages but only 1 egg. Maybe it was designed during the egg crisis a year or so back! Also, having asked them to leave the mushrooms off the breakfast I should have asked them to replace it with the bread for no charge, my mistake. Still a tasty breakfast though.

    Under cooked bacon. Wafer thin black pudding. Poached eggs like hockey pucks. Raw mushrooms. No clean cutlery out. No cups available. Paid for orange juice to be told they had none. And when we complained, the duty manager hid in the kitchen and sent a junior team member out. I've eaten at other Morrisons cafes in the past and always been satisfied. Really put a dampener on the day.

    • @GreenoEats
      @GreenoEats  Месяц назад +1

      That sounds like they had staff in the kitchen who didn't know what they were doing, and probably not enough staff to keep up with the cleaning of everything. But then for the manager not to take responsibility is really poor, they should be protecting their junior team members, not sending them to face the music !
