Quickly some context for the stuff below:
- Deltarune is a kind of sequel to Undertale - it has some overlapping characters but there are new ones
- Gaster created the CORE in Undertale
- Gaster may or may not have created Deltarune - we aren't sure, but we know he holds a lot of power in that universe
- Undertale takes place in the Underground and Deltarune in majority takes place in Dark worlds - like pocket dimensions or something idk we don't know
- Gaster fell into his creation and got shattered across time and space - that's why he's gone and nobody remembers him
- there are Gaster followers that talk about him, but they spawn only when you have a certain FUN value - a value set when you start your save file that allows for some easter eggs to happen
- Gaster is the Royal Scientist in Undertale
- Undertale has timelines aswell;
-True pacifist, where you spare everyone
-No mercy, where you kill everyone
-Neutral, where you kill only certain bosses (there are like 20 of these)
now lemme explain some stuff ya missed:
- 1:35 "I've heard the legends, Dr. Gaster" - Gaster is only mentioned as a legend by his followers, which are gray recolors of characters from Undertale/Deltarune
- "Say, how was the fall?" - a reference to a popular song by JT Music (who also vocies the Spot here) called "Down to the bone". The line itself became kind of a meme
- 2:13 "what happens when i kill a speech" - meaning that well, he's good but also the W. D. is speculated to stand for Wing Dings - a font that Gaster uses in Undertale/Deltarune
- 2:30 "I'll take a scrambled easter egg" - Gaster is an easter egg BUT also in Deltarune there is an easter egg where you can clip into a room with a tree where a mysterious man (speculated to be Gaster) gives Kris (the protagonist of Deltarune) an egg
- 3:31 "He's only known through whispers from that cult of guys who follow him" - again, a reference to the Gaster followers
- 3:38 "Went to some awkward nerd who doubled down on the sweat" - after Gaster fell into his creation, the king of the Underground hired Alphys as the new Royal Scientist - a shy and awkward anime nerd who sweats a lot
- 4:15 "I've dealt with garbage heaps before, your noise ain't a threat" - in Undertale there is a hidden entry in the code by probably Gaster - Entry #17. During that entry there is a wierd noise. The same noise plays sometimes in Deltarune in the Dark world. If you try to use your cellphone there, the same noise plays
- 4:43 "before your finished game's released" - Deltarune isn't finished yet - currently 2 of the supossed 7 chapters are done. Chapter 2 released 3 years ago and players are already going kinda bonkers without any new content
- 4:52 "Very, very interesting..." - a reference to Entry #17, that began with these words and written by Gaster. As i said before, Gaster wrote it.
- 4:54 "I pray this log won't get lost" - Entry #17 is a lost log, so it's a bit of a self burn
- 5:16 When it glitched, the text was written in Wingdinds, which Gaster used in Entry #17 and what the W. D. probably stands for
- "Perhaps he should address me as Webdings..." - again, Wingdings
- 6:47 "Perhaps he's bitter Morales is more grounded..." - ALSO Miles gets grounded by his parents often - he got grounded at the beggining of Across the Spiderverse
- 7:29 "His whole life is filled with PREDETERMINATION" - 'You are filled with Determination' is a line often repeated in Undertale, for example at save points
- 10:00 "Don't think you can just hide in code" - Gaster and Entry #17 exist in the code or at random events
- 10:05 "Now I'll turn the search for you into nightmare mode" - nightmare mode is a hidden mode in Undertake that activates if your FUN value is 56 or 57

Those 2 gray people are the Gaster followers that i mentioned before
"It's rude to talk of people who are listening" - the Gaster follower also says that in Undertale
- 10:45 "bony tail back under?!" - Gaster, due to his connection to sans and Papyrus (2 skeleton brothers in Undertale) is assumed to be a skeleton aswell
- 11:14 "Sorry! We got the wrong number!" - there is a Wrong number call that happens at a certain FUN value that is asking to speak to someone whose name starts with 'G'. Before they can say the full name, the caller stops and sings the 'wrong number song' and then ends the call. It is assumed this call is for Gaster.
- 11:23 "Oh, now you begged your gang of cronies to pick on me?!" - refering to the Gaster followers
- 11:29 "Spot is a loser! Smells like a loser! Spot is a-" - that's happening in Deltarune. The kids are characters from the game and the object in the background is the bunker, which plays the Entry #17 noise
- 11:41 Spot found Gaster in the code. The door is the same one as the one in Undertale behind which we can find Gaster
- 12:11 "Take the souls you've hidden in" - Undertale has souls represented by hearts. During the battle sections of the game we control our soul to dodge. Human souls also play an important role in both Undertale and Deltarune
- 12:15 "Each timeline you're living in, I'm turning into dust piles!" - 2 things:
-Undertale has timelines as i said before but also fans have created their own versions of the game called "Alternate Universes" or "Alternate Timelines"
-after monsters die in Undertale they become dust
- 12:17 "Since you speak in hands, you can translate" - 'Beware the man who speaks in hands' is a line said by River person in Undertale. The Wingdings font has hands in it. It is assumed River person is talking about Gaster
- 12:23 "and you'll finally get one canon event!" - Gaster is only an easter egg and he hasn't really been canonically established yet
- 13:01 "I thought the fix for your ego could fix my condition, but they're both shattered beyond repair" - Gaster, as said above, got shattered across time and space
- 13:16 "Like a shadow, you were cast out" - Entry #17 mentions "THE SHADOWS CUTTING DEEPER" and Spot got cast out even when he was just in the shadow

the noise file is called 'garbage noise', and it plays on the phone when you're at the garbage heap in deltarune ch2

Canon Event is a thing in Spiderman Across The Spider-Verse
Misconception, Gaster was shattered but his memory was not erased, evidenced by Asgkre taking a long time to mourn and replace him.
10:52 the other characters that actually talk to Spot in this verse are references to various things associated with Gaster.
The first two characters are Gaster followers and their lines are directly based on what they say in game, the phone call is based on the wrong number call and the last one is from Deltarune (it’s the student characters in front of the bunker where a song(?) associated with Gaster plays)
The song played is a slowed down Gaster theme.
For those wondering what the heck that ending was, here’s what I can explain: WD Gaster was broken and shattered and scattered across time and space. He assumed that if he could harness the power of The Spot, he could restore himself to a stable state. So Gaster had his followers taunt Spot across the multiverse in order to see if he was strong enough to handle Gasters plan. Evidently, Spot failed this test, so Gaster discarded him. He surrenders to his fate, satisfied with a Spotless victory either way.

One of my favorite things about this rap battle is how it has a narrative of sorts. In Gaster's first verse he is dismissive of the spot, not even directly talking to him and at the end of it he says "soon I'll fade back into darkness" which he does, leaving halfway through the battle. This causes Spot to start hoping through his holes from dimension to dimension looking for the timeline with the correct fun value for his door to spawn, we do see Gaster in some of the other universes too but those are just fragments of him that could fade at anytime, if he wants to actually fight Gaster he needs to go somewhere Gaster can't escape from. Near the end of verse he finds the the correct timeline as he says "Found you..." And then in Gaster's next verse he addresses the spot directly indicating the Spot has proven to be important to the eyes of Gaster.
he proved to be a failure in his experiment to escape from that dimention, but you're right. he acknowledges him as important

We are all biased when it comes to voting winners, however a great point I think seems right here is that Gaster's actually pretty good, calm approach whether it came naturally or in response to the spots bars lessened the emotional hype spot had.

Another detail is that when Popeye and Bluto (Popeye's rival) are in thr background of the old timey segment, they're actually mimicking the original Donkey Kong game with the hammer, barrels, construction location, and their roles in it, which makes sense because Donkey Kong was originally supposed to be a Popeye game before it began the introduction for Mario, DK, and Pauline after Nintendo didn't get the license.
Makes me wonder if Popeye VS Mario is gonna be a thing tbhbh... probably not, though.

JT Music voices The Spot and Gaster is voiced by Shwabidi. Fun fact, the lyric “How was the fall?” was taken straight from on of JT Music’s Undertale music videos, Down to the Bone.
The awkward nerd Spot refers to at 2:56 is Alphys, who stutters and due to some…traumatic events I won’t spoil just in case you haven’t got there yet, is not exactly brimming with self-esteem.
As for the Webdings line, I can explain that. Wingdings is the font Gaster speaks in, it’s sort of like different symbols lining up to different words. It’s inferred the W.D. in his name stands for Wing Dings. So basically, he just added Web to his own name.
The Lego universe, fun fact, was actually made by 14 y/o. He makes movie trailers in Lego, so they hired him to ACTUALLY make the scene in Across the Spiderverse. Not really a reference, just thought it was cool.
Speaking of which, at 8:35 in the video, Spot makes a pose with one finger pointed up. Aside from this entire scene being a reference to the vision Miles sees of his and the Spot’s future encounter, this is also a reference to the scene just before, where Spot does a similar pose but with two fingers, snipping Miles’ webs like scissors.
At 10:20, those two people are monsters. Specifically, Gaster’s followers, who Spot himself referred to as “Cultists” earlier in the song at 2:33. “It’s rude to talk about people who are listening.” is a reference to their Gaster dialogue, where one is about to speak of Gaster to the player, but then says that line, indicating he’s sort of…nowhere and everywhere all at one now. Gaster likely has some degree of omnipresence due to his fractured state in reality. (P.S. There’s a common misconception in the fandom that everyone except a select few monsters forgot about Gaster, but this is not true. Just thought to warn you.)
At 10:58, in the scene where you can see the Record Teacher from Red Guy vs Truman in the background, Golden Freddy, (for some reason) etc., Spot gets a phone call. The phone call saying, “We got the wrong number!” is a reference to a random event in Undertale itself. You may randomly get a phone call from someone wanting to speak with someone before realizing they got the wrong number, breaking out in song over the phone to apologize. Who is unclear, all we know is that G is the first letter of their name. Whether or not is linked to Gaster is ambiguous.
The universe at 11:29 is the Deltarune universe. (Not to be confused with the Undertale universe.) Deltarune, on top of being a sister game, is also a separate universe than Undertale. The high-school kids (All monsters, one including an older version of Monster Kid from Undertale) stand in front of a mysterious door which theorists believe is linked to Gaster due to emanating a sound that’s one of Gaster’s sound effects slowed down by 666%. You can actually hear it at 2:09. (666 is also connected to Gaster, due to his in game stats having the same or repeating number of 666.)
The door at 11:41 is likely a reference to Gaster’s door, which itself is a random event like the wrong number phone call. This door is even referenced by Spot at 3:05. There’s a random chance that inbetween two rooms, a grey door will appear. Going inside will reveal a room, all grey flooring. Just a single color. Inside is Gaster, or at least the image you see used to represent Gaster himself in the video. (Side note, there is a small chance it isn’t Gaster, but I think it is him. Gaster could be a play on Aster, and it and Wingdings are fonts just like (Comic) Sans and Papyrus, which has led the community, (myself included) to think he is a skeleton.) Speaking of which, in the title card at the beginning of the video, right before Spot starts, that area it shows IS Waterfall.
When Spot is raging and screaming after finding Gaster, he screams “LOOK AT ME!” He says this to Miles upon telling him how he had an indirect hand in his creation due to him being changed by the damaged collider from the first Spiderverse movie, on top of Spot taking a spider from another universe which would bite Miles and give him his powers, and on top of that that Miles and everyone else saw him as a joke after his transformation. He says in the video that he’s not Gaster’s guinea pig and not his punchline and that he’s been disrespected and ignored enough times, of which I explained in the previous little tangent, as he was treated like a comical joke by his former peers due to his transformation.
Immediately after, Spot says that he’ll turn every timeline Gaster lives in to dust piles, a reference to how monsters will turn to dust immediately upon death. He also mentions the second after that Gaster can speak his hands. Gaster is referred to by the Riverperson (A Waterfall NPC) as The Man Who Speaks In Hands. This is likely due to the fact that symbols of hands are letters in the Wing Dings font. So he’s essentially asking Gaster to translate his hands strangling his neck into Wing Dings, which could also be interpreted as him daring Gaster to talk $&@! with a crushed windpipe.
He mentions that when he strangles Gaster, he’ll finally have a canon event. Canon events on top of being a pivotal plot point in Across the Spiderverse, is also a reference to how we rarely see ANYTHING canon about Gaster.
When Gaster casts the Spot down into some dark, seemingly aquatic location at 13:04, he begins talking about he was cast out like a shadow and doomed to be alone in nothingness, his family in his past. This is a reference to Spot, yes, but just as much to Gaster himself. I don’t think he’s…projecting per se, rather drawing a parallel.

The entire battle Gaster had pure control; Spot's first verse doesn't even matter, Gaster himself never acknowledged it nor even gave him attention, he simply wrote a test log, theorized he had hidden potential but was mentally unstable, more so than a child, and using this went ahead and mentally snapped him to prove his point
Thematically its genius, I also dont think "You'll finally get one canon event" really even hits considering Gaster DOES have a canon event already, and he loses points for how simple the "Since you speak in hands you can translate what mine say when wrapped around your neck" line
Spot had nothing but visuals really, you cant diss someone who refuses to be dissed in the first place, its why Junko Enoshima basically wins every battle she's put into, same with Nagito; You cant say anything they wont already say about themselves
