Seems like Gaster was trying to anger Spot to see if his abilities could fix his condition and fix spots ego, by spot finding him in the void but he was disappointed with his performance, but come to terms that he'll be in there forever. At least that's what i think what happened
Yeah, gaster was trying to agitate spot so he ends up just straight up ripping gaster out of the void, sadly spot kept falling for the echoes across time and space and never actually pulled him out of the void
as nice as both sides of the bars was, gaster really numbed down the emotional effect the spot had and used it against him in a way with his overall calm approach to his turns. Him being dissapointed with spot nails in that thought that he's treating him as an experiment rather than a foe
Spots verse first starts with him encountering Gaster, to which Gasters first ends with him fading into darkness - an alternate dimension. Spot goes around trying to find him throughout the multiverse, but Gaster keeps sending his followers to interrupt them mid verse, so Spot will get angry and reveal his true potential. Once this happens, Spot finds Gaster again, tries to kill him…only for W.D. to wind up severely disappointed, casting Spot out of his universe with force.

And i loved Spots flow in his first verse, and his disses in his second verse like the "canon event" line is so good... Its very close but I'd say Spot won
