I was just thinking about this today. The worst thing is that due to job instability and an overall chaotic environment worldwide, people in their 30s and 40s aren't able to fully let go of these Baby Boomer parents (born between 1946-1964), just in case they need their help for any reason. Also, Boomers' life span has increased by 20-30 years on the average, therefore there seems to be no respite in sight for Millennials, whereby they can peacefully close this chapter in their lives and move on.

There was no boomer generation in India. Boomers are post ww2 US citizens who got plenty of high paying jobs with assured pension even in the private sector.
Average Indian people of that time used to skip a meal to save money - which would be used for their child's education or to build a home.

@@nareshagarwal772 That was because India had no social security structures as in the West. Family was the institution which provided support during times of health crises, death, marriages, floods or even during social disturbances. Larger family meant more security.
We can now call the police with a mobile phone call even during night or in a remote area. Till 30 years ago, you could not get that support. Instead they relied on close family members to accompany them.

Yes, toxicity on family has increased a lot. In every festival, kalesh is compulsory. Without it they don't know to proceed to next festival, bring it and keep on stressing kids.Kids are always wrong, this kalesh system is right ,they are even proud of this 😮

Meri saas bilkul aise hi severe andhvishwasi hai aur yehi mujh par bhi thopne ki koshish karti hai. Wo pair bhi count karke uthati hai shubh ashubh k liye 😂. Uske hisaab se sare kaam aurato ko karne chahiye aur aadmi/ladke bas baith kar khaye, kyuki wo to ghar k chirag hain, bhale hi wo ladke berojgar, nashedi aur borderline criminal hi kyu na ho.

Totally correct. Parents see us as a mango tree which they planted as a sapling now just want to have shade and fruit from it. Every genz has faced rude parents but rude children are always criticised. It’s high time we learn tit for tat.

We live abroad and come 2-3 times a year to India visit our in-laws. Father in law left working the time me and my husband married, now we are the bread winners for both the families which we happily manage. The problem is they don't take care of their health at all ,baaki sub pe kharch karege but health pe nahi. We were there for 1 week in Dipawali and my Mother in law was constantly cribbing about her health that she will not live anymore but when we took Doctor's appointment she did not go, she do this every single day on video call as well! We are so tired of them! They know really well that we cannot come back at this point and take care of them but still they choose to ignore their health despite being provided with every comfort leave alone other toxic traits.
