I literally JUST sent mcpro24fps a note 20 minutes ago, asking them to explain the In's and Out's about Color Profiles in their recent update. You Sir, just answered my question. Thank you. Dropped BigLike#24.
Terrific, a whole new topic (grading in post) opened up to me and explained brilliantly. Thanks Simon. And also yet another plus for me using Mcpro24fps rather than Filmic (being an Android guy).
New sub. I have been trying to figure out the relationship between the log feature, codec, and what application will make use of it for a few days, on and off. This video just filled in all the gaps. Thank you.
Brilliant - an excellent explanation of how the various pull possibilities work. I was grateful too for the explanation of the A and B for white balance. I’ve been wondering what they were all about and wondering how to fix my white balance. Thank you
Excellent demo. Most of this comes down to considered choices, and each shoot underlined with as informed a set of decisions as possible without forgetting the main event: getting well composed footage under any and all (including lousy/adversarial) lighting conditions. LumaFusion is such a creative mobile editing platform, I sometimes forget that it has a number of excellent bread and butter video treatment processes available. Thank you!
@@nomadicaffan hey, the iPhone 12 Pro Max in Filmic Pro can shoot 10-bit at 60fps only in 1080HD resolution. 2K and 4K at 10-bit is limited to 24, 25 and 30fps.

Question - I film using Wireless Go as audio input to the lightning port on my iPhone 12 Pro. Can I use both the remote control start/stop gadget and Bluetooth monitoring headphones?
@@SiHorrocks is there an iPhone or Android app that can let you do film stills simulation recipes so you can set them on your phone, so when you pick up your smartphone, you can shoot Fuji Provia, Fuji Acros or Kodak Portra etc, I know about lightroom but I don't want a subscription app plus I have Fimo, I want something to customise on my phone so my phone will simulate Fujifilm colour etc
At 1:24 of this video (accessed Dec 27, 2020), an algorithm is mentioned as a logarithm function, say, V_out = A*(V_in)^gamma, or V_out = c*log(1 + V_in). This makes FiLMiC LogV2 feed out silky-smooth color grade. This is the spell. But FiLMiC LogV2 is different from conventional 8-bit logarithm gamma encoding. I will be grateful if a reply is made sometime to show the difference in terms of algorithm and determination of parameter / constant.
Is there a way to record longer videos on FilmIC Pro? Every time I do, it either doesn't save and gives me an error, or saves in the FilIC roll but is unreadable by any software I can find.

Hello, Simon! Thanks for this video! Lots of advice that I will for sure use in my next production. I have one question though. If I am planning to use a black & white LUT and then grade it a little more with the help of Filmconvert, would you recommend that I shoot in Flat or LogV2? Excellent video! Can see a few comments on here complaining about a noise issue in low-light with log - I'm still on the 11 Pro Max so not on 10 bit yet but I've found the solution is to shoot on the lowest possible ISO. Obviouslt then you have to consider your lighting setup a bit more but its really helped me with noise reduction.
Hello sir, I've tried both filmic pro and mc24 on my android, however when I use any of the Log profiles I get horrible purple and green banding in shadow areas that won't go away even after applying luts, what could be the possible reason?
Would it be possible if a smartphone hardware couldn't take advantage of shooting in Log and better just use the standard? Mine, de-log and standard just look the same 😂
Doesn't work with a phone, it's not in fact a true logarithmic footage because the cameras of phones do not have the required dynamic range. You will end up overexposing highlights or underexposing shadows, plus you record in 8-bit not-RAW, disallowing for further recovery of details in the chroma/luma ratio when color grading. There's a reason why camera (sensor) size matters.
Impacted by that limitation, but…use your eyes nonetheless. If the images (pre or post processed) look different, better or worse, well. It means that, effectively, they are. Choices have to be made. The phones are capable of getting good, creative footage if you know how to use them.
