So Luke contacted me asking for some clarification and advice with regards to spare parts. Here's what I told him with some links if you need them:
'OK. The important thing to remember is that the cable needs to be USB Type-C. That's because it supports USB 3 (a much faster speed transfer). Here's a link to a good quality one:

Problem is, USB Type-C is the wrong connection for your tablet, like it is for mine. Hence the need for an adapter like the one that's shipped with the Mavic Air. So keep that one safe. However, if you lose that (and let's face it, it's a tiny bit of kit, who isn't gonna lose it?) you can get a replacement/spare here:

So everywhere I looked, all I could find was either USB debugging would sort the problem or that I should use an iPad. But I already had a tablet. It just wouldn't work!

Hi Sir Adam, Musing Of A Man , I have one for you , I bought my Galaxy Tab A about a week ago and after putting the App on the Tablet ,I hooked up and went for a flight and it was great ,not a single problem what so ever but then after that ,nothing ,it just wouldn't connect the next day , been trying for the whole of this week and NOTHING ,I have it here ready to sell to someone who needs a Tablet .Hahahahaaaaa, such is life and I am just COOL .

Hi, slightly different question, but I have just got myself a Mavic mini. It's still in the box actually due to poor weather, but I digress, I recently downloaded and installed Android 10 on my Galaxy S10 plus. Now when I try to open the fly app, all I get is a white screen. Have uninstalled and reinstalled app, but still no joy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers?

I live in Southport and have just taken my first tiny step today (hadn't allowed for Woodvale Airfield restrictions lol) so ended up in Birkdale but plan to head to Crosby beach soon and take flight. Always the Apple products feeling all the love. I tried hooking up my Samsung 7.0 tablet and sure enough, no communication between the remote and the tablet. Sometimes we all get high tech overload and this little (could be huge) hiccup was taxing my brain. I knew it had to be something simple but after reading through the manual and still no answer I did a You Tube search and you popped up. Thank you for posting and explaining in such a simple refreshing way! Yay! Woo Hoo!

I have samsung tab a6 after debugging and starting it up it just shows power symbol with red x over and over again tried to turn tablet off and back on still no good i ordered the cable see what happens

Ok, I am still Confused.?? The connection port on the Mavic Pro is Mini Input, and so is the input on the tablet. Both sides of cable have to be same size both mini males.. Please Help

Samsung Galaxy tab E (bought at Walmart), works great. Under two hundred Canadian, and with 9.6" screen, it makes me feel like an FPV king lol

Hi. Have problem with Samsung tab A6. No live view 😒 all sensors map and everything on screen except live view. Tried many cables! Reinstall few times dji app and nothing. Can fly with my mavic air.

Can android control dji phantom 3
Just bought those adaptors off Amazon, still not working with a Galaxy Tab A. I'm using the USB-C cable that came with my Mavic 2 and plugging it in the the large USB port at the bottom of the controller. I'm off to eBay to find a cable that plugs in to the side of the controller that is long enough to reach the tablet.

BRILLIANT ... I feel so stupid.... i bought a used ANDROID tablet, just for the drone, tested at home, props off - GREAT !!!! Went to fly today, thinking it was a great idea to take one of my shorter leads, from the 'stash' that we all collect. I had to revert to my phone and the supplied short lead, I just couldn't get my tablet to connect.,. I tried changing settings, everything I could. it wouldn't work. Then, I came across this video, rummaged through my stash and found the lead I'd used first. It worked, a Sony USB-3.... Fantastic. I then found a short USB-C and will use this with adapter. Thank you so much for this. SUBBED your channel based on this and the fact it's UK accent

interesting....the Tab A is USB 2. It's included charger/USB 2 cable works fine with my Spark. Is the Mavic's charging/data port cable USB C?
Yes. By default the Mavic Air is a USB Type-C cable with a Type-C to Micro USB adapter. It's a bit janky but I'm glad DJI included it.
I've tried out with a regular USB cable. I could see everything on the screen but the drone camera image. Is that because of the cable too? By the way what's your tablet model? Tks
Yes, I'd say that's the reason. As I said in the video, a regular micro USB cable isn't going to transfer data fast enough.

I would guess so. Just make sure you turn on USB debugging too. Let us know how you get on.

having the same problem with LENOVO TAB3 7 Essential: no video feed. Debugging and the original USB C do not help. Any other idea how to make it work?
@@michabocian3745 I was never impressed with the the Lenovo. Try another device. Could be the Lenovo is too old and not enough horsepower. Android 10 is the current one that dji works with. But IDK how the older Androids will function. IOW Samsung is the go to device.

I'm surprised it doesn't work off the bat with a Samsung S2. I have an older low budget Samsung Tab 4 and it works with no issues at all with my old micro usb (data cable) cables with the latest DJI Go version for my mavic pro.

You can use the standard cable with the drone to connect to a phone. This is to be able to size up with a tablet.

No, you should have a Type C connection with all the cables for your drone

I'm sorry but I'm not sure what link you have clicked on. I've just check the links in the description (both UK and US) and both cables (cable packs) are USB 3 cables.

it was the link you posted for amazon usa customers. i ordered a usb 3 cable and connector and paid next day air shipping. they sent me usb 2.0 czble and connector. so now $300 invested and still cant use the tablet:(
Sorry buddy but I've just check the link in the description and both UK and US links go to USB 3 type C cables. Also, not entirely sure why that's cost you $300

How did I get it on mine then? There's no editing trickery. It's the DJI GO 4 app. It's in the Google Play Store. 🤷🏻♂️

I've been racking my brains out, buying all sorts of cables, nada. Then I picked up a 4th generation iPad. Went to download the DJI GO 4 app from the iCloud or istore, Idon't know whatever about crApple, never used one. But heard they worked with DJI. So now I have an Galaxy Tad 2 I can't use, an iPad that can run the software and my Desktop which is huge, my 17" laptop is not going to cut it. My Surface pro, like my laptop is Windows based & too big. So seems unless someone has a solution I'm back to using my spare Galaxy S7 which I've been using. Any life lines out there?
hi chum, good video, problem lm having though is that although the tablet connects the only thing l cant see on the screen is what the camera sees? the hystogram etc all work and l can take video but cant see anything that the camera is looking at? l have done the de bug usb etc on both controller and tablet, any ideas?

everything is on the screen, all the nav tools and functions its just not showing any camera view, works ok on phone. have used the cable thats with the air, and a second that came with the tablet holder, no joy
Sounds like a default resaponse but have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling DJI App? I may be a default that hasn't kicked in with your device.

i have the Mavic 2 Pro working with my samsung galaxy S7 phone fine, with the double micro usb cord and usb cord with micro adapter (not at the same time of course). im trying to connect the M2P to a nvidia shield tablet. I'm not able to connect at all with both cords. im about ready to return the tablet and pick up an ipad. anyone have any ideas?

Hi MOAM, So just to be clear here, are you saying that by using a USB 3 cable this will work/fix issues with Android tablet/devices even if they are equipped with a USB 2 interface port? i.e the slower interface. Or have I misunderstood and you mean that the 'missing link' between the remote and any USB 3 *ONLY* device (tablet/phone) that you are trying to connect is the USB 3 cable? That, to me, would make more sense but may be unclear for some and perhaps some clarification is required?... Although now as I look through some of the replies, success is being reported from some with devices that are USB 2 speced???? Now I'm confused!! Any thoughts?

Ha! I see where the confusion is. How I first managed to make it work, it was a USB 3 cable (DJI's) with the converter for the USB type-C to micro USB. However, you're right, others are reporting that fast spec'd standard USB cables work too.
The secret is to use a USB cable capable of higher transfer speeds.
Thanks for the response. Can I ask... Is the Samsung Tablet you show around 0:57s a Galaxy Tab S3? If so (and this is the reason I asked in the first place) - the TAB S3 is a USB3.1 interface and using the 'correct' USB 3 cable would indeed explain the better transfer speed between the two USB 3 devices and hence performance. Although you are saying that you had the use the USB C to micro USB converter so that would rule out a TAB S3 as it has a USB C type port? So that brings me back to not understanding how people who have USB2.0 devices are reporting that using the USB 3 cable has made everything work well?! From my understanding(and I'm happy to be corrected if off the mark), is that the fastest possible speed attainable between two dissimilar devices is the slowest spec'd device's speed i.e. USB 2 in the cases mentioned. While a USB 3 cable is backward compatible with USB 2 devices, the cable shouldn't add any additional benefit in those cases?! Should it?!
Hmmm.....Is it possible that many of us have all been using poor quality USB 2 cables in the first place and changing to a USB 3 cable, or as you have alluded to above - " others are reporting that fast spec'd standard USB cables work too" has allowed the USB 2 port to operate at its highest capability and hence the reports of the 'fix'?
If so and even though the reasons why things got better may be blurred in the technicalities, I guess the end result is still the same. :-)
Maybe I've just been looking too hard at the reasons why and not just accepting that it works in many cases. That's the legacy/curse of a lifetime of technical work and my need to know the details. Good work!

No, the tablet is the Samsung Tab A 10.1. I'm not sure precisely why it works with an adapted USB 3 cable and not the standard USB but I'm pretty sure it is because of the faster transfer speeds possible.
This did not work for me. I tried using the original cable that came with the Mavic 2 Zoom and DJI Go 4 launches but does not connect to the aircraft. Tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2. All of our Samsung phones work just fine with any cable, just not the tablet.

@@peteinozi no problem at all. First off, is there a particular reason why you're limiting to 7-8"? I use the 10" Samsung Tab A and it's perfect. If the size is definitely a requirement, I'd take a look at the Nexus tablets. They're around that size and will be fast enough (the more recent ones that is). You see, the speed and ability of the tablet is paramount. A simple cheap Android tablet will be a total false economy for you as it just either won't work with the DJI app, or will crash/force close constantly. Feel free to comment here with links of any you find if you want to run them by us to let you know how it will do. 👍🏻

Interesting.... Problem is that my Mavic Pro came with a few different type of connection cables to accommodate a either a cell phone with a type c or micro USB connection. All of which work fine with a cell phone, when connected to the Mavic Pro controller's left hand side port. Will have to try placing a Micro USB adapter, that fits into my tablet, onto the end of my USB Type C cable, and see if it corrects the transmission problems... More to follow.

As I've said in the video. You need to use the cable that came with the drone. The long cable with the adapter on it. The adapter that let's you charge the controller with it.

Problem is, USB Type-C is the wrong connection for your tablet, like it is for mine. Hence the need for an adapter like the one that's shipped with the Mavic Air. So keep that one safe. However, if you lose that (and let's face it, it's a tiny bit of kit, who isn't gonna lose it?) you can get a replacement/spare here:

I run old lg g4. No usb 3 and works very well. It has nothing to do with usb #
