Yo Seth, I tried bunny hopping a few times back in the past - it didn't work out. After watching this video and using your tips and avoiding mistakes I learned it after approximately 1 week. I'm also able to do an English Bunny Hop now. Much (or many?) thanks, Bruno
I'm wondering what you guys think about the frame-by-frame walkthrough at the end. Would you like to see more of those? If it's helpful, I can start to include that at the end of more videos.
+Seth's Bike Hacks - The Frame by Frame is fantastic, Even more if you can do bullet time! Haha. Really really, helps... us over analytical types, haha. Question: I'm not sure if it's just my bike frame that's a little on the long side for me. As I'm not that fit to begin with (understatement) so it may just be me. The Issue, Is I can get my front wheel to Pop-up. But It drops down too fast and feels heavy. So I'm unable to pull it up to my waist. The only way so far that gave me some results in regards to hopping my bike, Is with the help of speed bumps to give that extra pre-load. Even then, I can still feel my lack of control "finesse". I try to push as far back as I can, but my Thighs get in the way, and hook up to my saddle, haha. I get the idea that it should be way down low, but on a regular trail ride, stopping to drop it down, is a bit meh. Especially on emergencies.
+Simon Kendrick So don't pull the front wheel up from the bars, instead move your body back and then lock your arms to lift the front wheel. this keeps the front wheel up longer as your weight will be more back.
Hi! Yeah, thats my other issue. I move as far back as I could, but my Thighs get in the way, Ahaha. I wanted to have some manualing skill I can use on on emergencies at the time when I couldn't drop the seat down. So I take it, that as long as I don't drop my seat, Manualing and hopping is gonna be epic hard for a guy with thick legs? haha.
After giving up trying to bhop I found this video and after watching it once and trying for less than 10minutes I already can do small hops. Nothing perfect nor consistent, but it's a bhop. Best video ever
The frame by frame with commentary is truly excellent, rather than be a show off and make a look what I can do and you can't video you're actually posting something that can help others achieve better skills. Thank you for posting!

Best hop explanation ever!!! Never could understand how people get so high off the ground until I saw this. It all suddenly makes sense when you look at it like a pogo stick.
I've been able to do an English bunny hop for ages now but always had trouble with this kind no matter how many tutorials I watched. This one finally helped me realize what I've been doing wrong (and I think and what I've been doing wrong with manuals too). Thanks Seth.
Hello, Seth. Thank you for the video! It's very helpful. I know you have lots of experience, but I think it would be very good for you to wear at least a helmet while filming these videos. You're trying to get newbies to develop some very helpful skills, but many of them disregard the importance of safety gear, and seeing you without it might reinforce negative habits. Lead by example, you know? Thank you for your time. Keep up the great work!
I watched this video and immediately jumped on my bike to try it it took about 15 mins to get my first one but after that I got the hang of it and you helped so much with this
I have never learned how to american bunny hop... I have trying and failing. I watched this video, and the meerkat video, and about 3 of the others. I have been practicing for 2 days, and now I am finally getting some good lift most every time. I would say between 1 and 2 feet. A huge improvement! Thanks Seth.
Whooo, bunny hopped my first curb yesterday! Took me two months... I am not talented, but Seth's videos are perfect to learn. Now I am here to revisit the tutorial in order to refine my skills and get more air. :D
Hey Seth, just want to let you know that this was the best bunny hop tutorial ive seen, thanks for going into specific details because it helped me FINALLY bunny hop:]
Seth, i've been cycling for a few years and decided to learn other bike skills aside from just sitting and pedaling around. got a new bike with good suspension fork and finally realized why they had to be good. thanks man. inspired to jump my bike (and did it!) after watching this vid.
Congrats on the videos, they're very thorough and a good help for both newbies and more experienced riders. I really liked that you are using an entry level, off the shelf hardtail for the videos. It just proves that skills are more important than equipment (although a half decent bike is appreciated on the trail). What I don't like is the absence of a helmet and the "do as I preach, not as I do" disclaimer. Yes, some of us are adults, we are responsible for our own safety and take our own risks, but the combination mentioned above just doesn't work for me. Keep it up, but please consider using a lid.
by the way. I noticed one thing that hurt my bunnyhop was that instead of pulling up my front wheel by leaning back. I pulled up the front wheel by bending my arms and bringing it up to my chest. This actually hurt a lot of a my bikes skill so what you need to make sure to learn that you have to lean your weigh back and only bend your arms a little. that way you have more control and space to move the bike around under you.
Thanks! This video was very helpful. I was able to do a bunny hop, albeit, just a low one, after practicing the tips from this and your other bunny hop video. Low, but it is a start :) thanks!

Sweet hops bro. I'm 250 pounds at the moment, and a little out of shape. I just got a Trek Xcaliber 7 2018 model. Right now I'm just putting miles on it to drop weight, but as soon as I do, I'm using your tips to learn to bunny hop. Unless you think incam start right now. It might help me to lose weight too with all the enerygy thats being used to try this over and over again. Thank you so much for the video.
Yeah I mean, I go up and down like every 2 years and it's really not that hard to lose weight if you do something fun. The first time I did swimming, then cycling and running, really anything works( although going from 70kg to 100kg and back three times now left me with some weird looking stretch marks)
Just picked up my first MTB - 2011 Specialized Comp Stumpjumper FRS (26") Medium. I'm 5'6" and in mid 50's. Having trouble with hopping and raising rear tire. Appears to be common for newbies. LUV your vids! Slo Mo really helps! Best on YT. I see that I'm not preloading enough or correctly and I need to lower my seat (its at hip height). Probably should have purchased a hartail first.
I had a cross country hardtail and couldn't get the bike much more than about six or eight inches off the ground. But once I switched to a bike that was more trail oriented, with steeper geometry, I found it MUCH easier to hop higher. It made a huge difference.
The technically minded thank you for the steps explained. I like your use of slowing it down and walking through the thought process. Very helpful. At 6'4" 190lb leg weak I've cheated for too long by only using upper body. Time to get my hop on. Thanks again for this and all your other videos!
Dude, you are the best. I couldn't get any real height until I watched your video. If you are ever in Philly, I'll buy you a beer, lend you a bike, and take you on some great trail rides.
Excellent tutorial Seth my dude! Even without front suspension we still compress with our arms and obviously that compresses the front tire somewhat too. And with a fat bike you might need a little more pressure in the tires to ride street or on rocky ground. It gives more pop than when they're really squishy. 291 peeps disliked this? That's about as logical as like disliking a six weeks old puppies video!
Thanks seth. Been having issues and today I went out and hopped whatever I wanted. Well almost. Small curbs and little things I looked at before with disdain!!!
Thank you so much for putting out great content like this which enabled me to bunny hop! Now I bunny hop like a pro and I remember those days and always think of you!
Thank you again for another awesome video. I went out to screw around on my bike tonight, and I tried some bunny hopping. I failed a few times, and then remembered you said to pull the handlebars like a summbitch towards your chest. I tried that, I must have popped the bike a foot off the ground. This shit works man.
Seth this video was a big help! I've watched a lot of bunny hopping videos on YT and while most were helpful for the technique this video is what made it click. I got it!
For people on a hardtail going to this video when preloading while on the way up just preload and moving back to raise the front will only lift it a few inches(unless you have a very light bike) when it starts moving up and you move back as well pull back and slightly up to move the front wheel higher (brace for rear breaks for it can make you loop out if unprepared) Wear a helmet and practice on FLAT ground only until you nailed it on flat then slowly go for highwr and higher objects

The first time I did swimming, then cycling and running, really anything works( although going from 70kg to 100kg and back three times now left me with some weird looking stretch marks)
best bunny hop video hands down. watched all of them
Frame by frame is *very* useful and good to understand. But please, never ever make a video without putting on a helmet again.
The frame by frame and the commentary over it was the thing that helped
I was doing this all wrong. the frame by frame explanations were a huge help!
thanks Seth I just bought my new 26" front suspension bike and it still works
Just picked up my first MTB - 2011 Specialized Comp Stumpjumper FRS (26") Medium. I'm 5'6" and in mid 50's. Having trouble with hopping and raising rear tire. Appears to be common for newbies. LUV your vids! Slo Mo really helps! Best on YT. I see that I'm not preloading enough or correctly and I need to lower my seat (its at hip height). Probably should have purchased a hartail first.
Best bunny hop tutorial I've seen
The production difference between this and 2020 vids from Seth has waaaayyyy improved
Wow one of the best tutorials I ever watched on yt (not only about bunny hopping). Thank you!
I had a cross country hardtail and couldn't get the bike much more than about six or eight inches off the ground. But once I switched to a bike that was more trail oriented, with steeper geometry, I found it MUCH easier to hop higher. It made a huge difference.
Here during covid-19. So when this is over I’ll be a bunny hop master. Thanks Seth. Love the channel
+phl1200r If I'm ever in Philly, I'll take you up on that!
Seth, I appreciate your verve and ability to teach.
Thx for the tips. Because of your tutorials I've been able to bunny hop for the first time (clipped in on a hardtail)
Thanks Seth, so far this is the best tutorial, specially the frame by frame explanation
Thanks seth. Been having issues and today I went out and hopped whatever I wanted. Well almost. Small curbs and little things I looked at before with disdain!!!
The best slow mo/repeat/slo mo explanation!
Thank you so much for putting out great content like this which enabled me to bunny hop! Now I bunny hop like a pro and I remember those days and always think of you!
Your bunny hop technique is clean and powerful, really like it!
Your channel is gold for beginners!
Great tutorial. Definitely love how you broke it down frame by frame. Keep up the good work. Thanks!
Thanks Seth, I watched your video again and again.. And now I know how to bunny hop.. I was so happy.. Thanks again.. more power.
First Video I ever saw of you. I forgot all about it and teached me to hop myself, but the concept is the same.
Seth this video was a big help! I've watched a lot of bunny hopping videos on YT and while most were helpful for the technique this video is what made it click. I got it!
I think I found my problem I'm 6'5" and on a medium size bike. And yes the frame by frame is very helpful thank you for all your great teaching videos
Yeah man I mastered the trick so so happy 🥺
For people on a hardtail going to this video
when preloading while on the way up just preload and moving back to raise the front will only lift it a few inches(unless you have a very light bike)
when it starts moving up and you move back as well pull back and slightly up to move the front wheel higher (brace for rear breaks for it can make you loop out if unprepared)
Wear a helmet and practice on FLAT ground only until you nailed it on flat then slowly go for highwr and higher objects
Iv gone through countless videos on how to bunny hop on a bike but this is the only one that has helped
