I have a custom skiff the size of your boat and I’m considering the Swomp 40. Love to hear a update on your setup. I’m hoping for upper 20’s with lite load. I was running a Copperhead 23 and was getting 22mph out of the same boat. The 40 seems easy to handle in your videos...

Did you do anything special to break the motor in when you first started running it?

I run a 23 mb mini on a smaller Alweld and was looking at a similar setup to what you have. I know Jake and the boys at Backwater and they are great. This 40 looks like the ticket. Do you think it could power an 1856 sufficiently?

@@thegreenberetlife0191 Larry at Backwater ran an 1852 with a 40. It was a sweet setup. I think you’d be more than fine.

I have a 40 on a 1552. I keep the boat balanced and literally drive it with 2 fingers. Naturally, slow down for turns cause there's significant torque that will pull you out of the boat. lol! Overall, not as fast as a gator tail but i can get 26 mph with 2 people, dog, 4 dozen decoys. I love my backwater!
