    Honestly, both sides look amazing. Maybe the luminous side is more for everyday wear and the matte side more for special occasions. But I liked both equally.

      Agreed.

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 5 лет назад +11

      @Ruby Kitty Agreed. Besides, I really dislike light eyeliner placed in the inner rim - It competes with the white in your eyes and makes them look not only artificially 'wider' (actually smaller) but also more tired and the eye white appears darker and more unhealthy looking. Shimmer/shine on the cheeks always emphasizes large pores. I do agree that matte lipsticks are not good choice for mature lips (or any lips IMO), since they are rather unpleasant to wear. I agree that medium to sheer coverage foundations are better choice than 'heavy' ones, but texture has to meet the skin needs. To me, both sides looked good, too, our right side being more evening/occasion make up. Skin appeared more flawless on the 'heavy' side as well. May I suggest tutorials which actually caters to realistic daytime, every day looks - done in daylight not in studio environment. That might help getting a real picture how certain technique or product actually works when we step out from the house during the day. Best regards to all!

    Great video! As a 52 year old woman who is just now learning how to wear makeup, I truly appreciate this video. Your right side does look more dewy and youthful. One new trick I'm going to try is softer lips. I tend to wear matte lipstick, which I agree, isn't the most flattering for my 52 yr old lips. ❤❤❤

  • @sindhumjay8587
    @sindhumjay8587 5 лет назад +29

    I can't get over how beautiful the "don't" side looks! I like the eye makeup, blush and lips and everything on that side way more than the other side. The skin texture and creasing is more pronounced on the do/ right side.

    • @Puglover130
      @Puglover130 5 лет назад +5

      Sindhu M Jay it looks more textured now but that’s because she just applied her makeup.
      If she had comeback and shown us 4 hours later, the texture on the “now” side would be the same and the don’t side would be looking cakey, smudged and textured. It just doesn’t hold up well on more mature skin through the day.
      That’s why she said that the full coverage looks great AT FIRST but then after a few hours , really goes downhill, whereas if you use a lighter coverage the look stays beautiful all day

    Thank you, Lisa for doing this. I know I am a bit late watching this but I can really relate. A couple of years ago, my foundations were not working, I really didn't know why I was having a hard time with my make up application. I, like you, have always used a lot of make up when I was young and I always looked fine. But lately, those same techniques make me look clownish. I finally figured out that as I was aging my skin was changing and just couldn't absorb the make up anymore. I finally started to pump my moisturizer into my foundation which made the foundation work better on my skin. I am currently using Estes Lauder Futurist foundation and even though it was formulated for older skin, I find I still have to add some moisturizer to thin it out. The less I use the better. And my goodness, I have spent so much money trying different concealers, they all crease. I currently use, I think a L"Oriel drug store product which is an eye cream/serum and concealer. That seems to work best. I have toned everything down now, blush, eye shadow and lipstick. Gosh I miss the old days when anything I put on looked fabulous. Getting older is a challenge. Thanks again. :-)

      IKR! Some days it look like I had black eyes. I would only use the Browns in my crease and use a lighter color on my lids but at the end of the day when everything was moving and smudged, it was pitiful LOL!! I use a matte cream color all over my lids. If my outfit is more on the brown shade noon I tend to reach 4 red or burgundy eyes my darker crease & outer lid color, but VERY sparingly!!

  • @kaymill5565
    @kaymill5565 5 лет назад

    Ridiculously wonderful job! One thing I took from this (and there were so many valuable nuggets for aging gals) is that the darkness all over the lid casts a dark countenance on the inner corner of the eye where it meets the nose. This was so valuable for me as I already have darkness there and do NOT need to add any sources of darkness. I am going to do my makeup this way today and see how it impacts especially my eye area. Note self: get those BK Beauty brushes!!!

    At 63 I changed my makeup application and realized after applying eyeshadow on top eyelids I look best for a daily look without anything on bottom lashline. I began using lightweight foundations years ago. And all those full coverage concealers just flew out the door. I read reviews for dozens of them and discovered most people with dry skin or mature don't like them.
    Loved this video the most so far! Everything you mentioned and showed is so true.

    One thing I do now is apply cheek colour higher on my cheekbones. If blush drops too low, it drags the face down. I also don't like a blush that's too shimmery/glowy. It does give a nice glow, but it tends to accent texture, which I don't want. A matte blush with a hint of glow, applied lightly, works best for me. I also like to apply a hint of blue (using a blue/grey pencil) on the bottom lash line. It helps to brighten and counteract any redness in the eyes.

    Great video! I loved the eyeshadow techniques. I’m 51 and have been a makeup fan for years and am constantly reading up on it. I have several techniques. I don’t have wrinkles but my skin is sagging.
    A few tips I use:
    Foundation: I place it on my face but around the edges. If I place in the t zone area, my pores full.
    Eyeliner: I tightline my upper lash w black waterproof kohl when I’m done with my makeup. I start with the eye that saga more. I do this until it looks even.
    Powder: I use banana pressed powder and use a beauty blender to pat in. I only do this in the t zone.
    Contour: I contour and highlight my face with cream products before foundation if I want a more glamorous look. Sometimes I’ll blend it slightly before foundation. Sometimes I just put the foundation over it. This is a scott Barnes technique...he’s J Lo’s makeup artist.
    Primer: I have a hard time w primer bit looking right. I’ve been using the tata illuminating primer moisturizer lately and I love it.
    Powder: when I’m done I use ethereal powder from Hourglass all over my face. It blurs so nicely!

I've switched to Bare Minerals BB cream aka Complexion Rescue. And I've also eased up on the heavier eye makeup, and I'm going more for the "natural" look. It is definitely more flattering than what I used to do. However .... you may want to wait a few more yrs, because after watching this, both sides of your face were lovely. I didn't see any of the "flaws" you talked about. You're still too young to show what you were wanting to show. ☺
    But I get it ... since I'm at that stage you were wanting to prove. Maybe get an older model in there so people can see what happens when you've got that mature skin, and trying to look 20. And I actually still have very good skin. I get compliments all the time about no wrinkles, and how lucky I am. But even with that, it still shows the flaws of pores and texture ... ugh. Anyway, you're still a kid .... you'll have wait 10 more yrs or so. ☺☺☺

    Thank you for this video I needed this seeing my makeup don’t set the same anymore as it did 5 years ago. I love Charlotte Tillbury her makeup is stunning, unfortunately I can’t afford it all so I have a request for a Charlotte dupes video.. 💋💋💋Another request can you do a drugstore light makeup look for aging skin video ? I get so overwhelmed and need some guidance. Especially for concealers for under eyes that are dry and have fine lines, seems every concealer I try sit and creases in those little fine lines. Exactly! I think it's safe to say that her skin is simply too flawless (in her 40's!! Wow! ) to do a "do's & don'ts" of aging gracefully video! 😂 But, she did have very good advice for all of us. My rule of thumb is to critically examine (once a year on my B-day) how my face looks at the end of the day, in order to edit down my makeup routine & add to my Skincare routine. We get so busy all day, & just want to get our makeup off asap, that we hardly see our faces. It's just better not to really look. (I apologize for my winded reply, here.) I hope this made some sense. ☺️

      It’s called modern technology. When skin looks too good to be true on camera, that’s because it probably is. Please don’t feel bad about your own skin. These you tubers have expensive lighting and camera filters that make their pores completely disappear. It’s actually very misleading. After watching enough of these, you can totally tell the ones who are use filters. They appear not to have a pore or line on their face.

    I agree. I just turned 54 and less is definitely more. I love playing with eye shadow and recently discovered that eye look myself. Its quicker, easier and fresher. I just recently started an anti-aging skin regime and have also noticed that my foundation looks better because I am starting with smoother, hydrated skin. Skincare is so important. I agree less is more and not just for the aging, for everyone. Heavy makeup and fluttering falsies have their place. However I love the naked skin type trend and I think it serves everyone's best interests, in particular the teens and young ladies. All of their God given natural beauty should be enhanced and not covered up. Some of these gals transform themselvel into someone hard to recognize. Not a good look imo.

      My sister has rosacea, and she uses a mineral powder foundation to help cover any redness, but she doesn't apply powder to her whole face, only where needed. Just be sure to blend it in using a buffing brush. Bare Minerals loose powder foundation is a nice one to consider. It offers good coverage, but doesn't look powdery on the skin. It has beautiful finish.

    You just made me feel 1000x better about myself when you explained about the soft lighting! RUclipsrs can be so confusing. I see all these women my age (older than you) touting Estée Lauder DW or HR and it looks fine on me at first but then like crap after a couple of hours. Then all the different layers of powders and Nars or Shape Tape type concealers add to the aging effect on me, but they look great on camera. Thanks for confirming this! Lately I’ve been feeling like there’s something wrong with me... My bad technique or aging skin. 😭 They also say to go with matte makeup bc luminous foundation highlights the pores? This goes against all my dewy instincts like MAC F&B which has always gotten me compliments on my skin even though I have rosacea underneath. I’m going back to doing what works for ME. Thank you so much! I doubt you will see this but I truly LOVE you right now!! 💗

    You are so pretty! Your skin is flawless! Honestly if I were you, I would just wear my sunscreen and a bb cream or cc cream as you don’t have anything to cover. I feel hydrated skin & glowy skin is more youthful. I agree as you get older everything changes. Less is more once you’ve left them late 20’s & 30’s! I don’t do trends or IG makeup. It’s all about finding your shape, eye shape and enhancing. I’ve noticed as I hit 48 my eyelids are more droopy. So I feel too opening up the eyes and wearing lashes (natural) ones truly makes a difference. Would be very interested in seeing your skincare regime as well as any facials etc you recommend! Tysm! 💕
