Omg I love that we agree so whole heartedly on Murder Road. Sooooooo bad. Truly unfortunate. Also love that you are loving the Wayward Children series. I also adore Jack and Jill! 🖤
This is my first video of yours and I was so excited when I saw your top 3 bc Little Devil in America and The Reformatory are both faves for me. And Akwaeke Emezi is one of my fave authors so I can’t wait for Little Rot But then you said Seven Days in June was disappointing and I couldn’t have hit the subscribe button sooner. That relationship didn’t hit for me at alllll🙃 Romance is my fave genre tho so I hope you find your faves!!
I felt like I was the only one who felt that way! 😭 We seem to have VERY similar taste so I’m curious as to what romances you would suggest!? 👀 I’m just dipping my foot into that genre & I’m loving Kennedy Ryan so far.
@@scottieshereereads I’ve seen a few Black booktubers that share our opinion on that book so I’ve felt somewhat validated🙃 Ok for romance, I’m just gonna do Black authors bc that’s mostly what I read lol. I would blindly suggest anything from them bc the writing is consistently good! They’re not all as angsty as Kennedy Ryan tho so I’m sorry if that’s what you’re looking for🥲(also a lot of people I trust like Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez so…yeah I just can’t co-sign bc I haven’t read them) If you want to stick to contemporary, I think Christina C. Jones, Talia Hibbert, Mimi Grace, and NG Peltier are good places to start. If you’re interested in historical, there’s Beverly Jenkins and Alyssa Cole. If you’re ok with spicier books, I love Viano Oniomoh, JL Seegars, Natasha Bishop, Katrina Jackson, Rebekah Weatherspoon, and Danielle Allen.
Sorry for the delay! But THANK YOU for these recommendations!! 💛 I've loved Talia Hibbert & I just read Only For The Week and absolutely loved it!! I'll definitely dig into these authors and pick some more romance books up!
Thank you so much! 💛 Yeahhhh…those prices are HIGH! But Emezi is literally one of the only authors that I buy their books right when they release. I’m generally a second hand book buying girl haha
Once you read a good book in a genre, it’s hard to not read it. I was the same with romance but you just have to find the right one. Seven days in June was one I didn’t like as much as others.
I've read Ring Shout by that author & absolutely loved it! It's a horror novella instead of fantasy. However, I am always looking for fantasy suggestions. Let me know how you enjoy that one! 😊
I did not know Echo Brown passed away!! I've had that on my kindle for quite a while now. I'll have to pick that one up soon. I've also heard great things about The Rachel Incident, as well. Thanks for putting these on my radar! 💛
I actually attended Angeline Boulley's author event this month and I can't wait to pick up Firekeeper's Daughter!! I'm going to start with that before reading Warrior Girl Unearthed. My Soul To Keep is also on my TBR since I adored The Reformatory early this year.
@@scottieshereereads oooooohhhhh, you are in for a treat with Angeline Boulley - these first two books are fantastic - my soul to keep is a RIDE - to me it was a 4 star book, but a 6 star reading experience - the number of times I yelled at the book, put the book down to let it ‘think about what it had just done’, and quit reading it, only to come back two hours later because I had to know what happens next!!?! I have the second and third book out of the library, and plan to read them soon
@@marisagettas She was so sweet in person too! I need to find time to pick one of her books up ASAP! In terms of Due…that’s how I felt with The Reformatory! I can’t decide if I want to pick up My Soul To Keep OR The Good House next. 🤔 Have you read The Good House?
@@scottieshereereads yes i have - it’s loooooooonnng, but totally worth the read - The Good House was my first Due, and I think a great introduction to her style

I was so mad that I didn't DNF that book 😂

I just put Here After on hold at the library. I love a good memoir - thank you for highlighting Amy Lin's. I will have Kleenex at the ready!
Excited to hear how it affects you. I will be thinking about that book for quite a while! 💛
It's a powerful read.
I love your videos. We have similar tastes in books. I’m looking forward to picking up Little Rot, I just gotta get over the paperback price. 😢

That's the beauty of booktube! I never thought that i would be on the hunt for romance books! WHO KNEW?! haha
I just got my copy of Dead Cat Tail Assassins. It's fantasy so you might like it
