Thank you so much, I have been trying to pick which one to use and you have made it super clear I'm going with the AK stuff. Just a plus it's a bigger bottle and you just bang it over once in place. You're a star.
Tamiya Mark Fit (single bottle solution but two-step process if you RTFI) or Mr. Hobby Setter & Softer 2-step process slay the competition. Tamiya's Mark Fit gets bashed by many who've never used it just regurgitating an overheard negative bias towards anything Tamiya. Good old traditional Microscale Set and Sol do a respectable job. They can be depended upon regardless the paint system used. Vallejo? I've read some horror story prejudice against these which I suspect strongly of hyperbole in the moment. Nevertheless, there are a plethora of alternatives if averse to their product. Another 2-step solution, I actually have Vallejo Fix and Softener. I haven't had any problem with them ever over acrylic resin water based paints. i.e. Vallejo, MIG & similar.
Really late comment. But I’ve been using VMS 2 in 1 recently and it’s actually really good. Could you do an updated video on decal solutions? Fresh opinions on these, with more solutions including vms 2 in 1 , Tamiya mark set. I think even mig do one too. I’m sure there’s plenty more
Great video!. Will Mr. Mark Softer help the decal stick better like the Setter? Or is the Mr Mark Setter the only one which will work on old or decals that don't stick? Thanks
No the Softer will not really help the sticking process. If you apply it before placing the decal it will help to avoid air bubbles underneath the decal.
Interesting. I'll put that to the test next time i have a surface, spare decal & remember too. I actually have Vallejo Fix and Softener among a available selection of several others. To date I haven't had any problem with them ever over acrylic resin water based paints. i.e. Vallejo, MIG & similar. I use Tamiya Acrylics, so... will get back to you with my exp after trying the combo. Cheers.
@@theblytonian3906 I hope that you do, it would be good to hear another opinion. On both occasions that I used the Vallejo solutions on the Tamiya paint and clear the Tamiya products softened causing the decals to sink through the layers. The decals themselves weren't affected, only the Tamiya paint and clear. I did email Vallejo customer services to ask if there were any known problems with their decal solutions reacting with other company's products but they never replied.
@@martinoconnor4314 I'll be cleaning and servicing one of my airbrushes on Friday hopefully. I'll lay down some Tamiya colour Acrylic as well as a second patch of the same with some X-22 Clear over it and let them thoroughly dry for 48 hours before trying the Vallejo Decal Fix and Softener. I'll get back to you when I have a result - good or bad.

Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching👍🏻
Vallejo Decal Fix dissolved Tamiya paint and Tamiya Clear on both occasions that I have used it, I will not use it again.
Ive only tested it once and had a similar result. I will give it another try soon and test different types of varnish.
Thanks for the feedback!

My Mr. Mark Setter/Softer just says "Use in well ventilated area."
A very usefull application guide😄
Honestly mr mark setter shouldn't be used on top of the decal only the softner should
