@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard I’ve had the A-S1200 for two years. I use it to drive 1997 vintage B&W Matrix 805 monitors. The combo puts out a huge soundstage and is very musical.
The meters on the Yamaha are also switchable between Peak and VU. The headphone jack has up to +12 dB gain which helps with planars, and it has a very good MM/MC phono preamp. The A-S3200 is a keeper, and I sure hope it holds up since I'm retired now and have it running every day, and most up to fourteen hours. Oh, and I'm glad to see you finally took the Advance Paris amp off of the top of the Yamaha. That was annoying the hell out of me, lol.
this yamaha sounds really good as ever i have a C1 pre and B1power and they are very old but never saw a control amplifier with so many functions ,anything one might need is there and works since the 70´s, all inputs can be leveled in the back, and the power amp. as 5 outputs for 5 pairs of speakers
I liked Accuphase’s bass and ups and mids of Yamaha. To get both, I’d buy Yamaha and use those awesome tone controls to boost the bass a bit 😊. Yamaha sounded more like a clearer pane of glass and more liquid and Accuphase more warm. This Yamaha voicing confuses folks giving them a false impression that it is lean in the bass but that is just the way they naturally voice it. Just bumping the bass will offer more bass without changing the sound.
Man your just pounding out the content! It's awesome you must be one of the only authorized dealers in the US for all three major Japanese brands - Luxman, Accuphase and Yamaha. I would love for you to compare the sound signature and build quality of the "all-in-one" two channel units in the $4k and under range for both two channel high-end audio and two channel TV audio. Like the Yamaha R-N2000A, Cambridge Audio Evo 150, Advance Paris A12.
Great comparisons, I enjoyed them. Refer to Lenny's question, AMT (Air Motion Tweeter) have been around for some time. Dr. Heil designed AMT and used it in ESS speakers back in California in 1972. thanks for video.
Good amp I think. Yamaha always put a very capable power supply in their integrated amps given the power rating quoted. The styling is on point too. I have a few vintage yamaha pieces and some new hear eg the AS 1000. It's a very robust amp given its rating. They love putting big caps in the design where it counts. The C5000 pre and power amps sound great but they are sadly out of my reach. The C 5000 is the first preamp since 1997 when the CX 1 was made.. I have one and love it.

Hy guys! A few months ago I changed amplifiers, choosing this one that I consider (for the moment?!?) "definitive" for my personal needs and budget. My loudspeakers are currently B&W CM6 S2s: floorstanding loudspeakers (I know, a bit old-fashioned) that I think are the right type for my listening room (a living room of about 16/18 sqm). They were my first speakers (bought used) and I am now used to their sound and the "magic" that is created when I hear voices and mid-high frequencies (no doubt thanks to the decoupled tweeter). These speakers sounded very good with my previous amplifier, a Musical Fidelity M3si, but with the new Yamaha, although they definitely show more "authority" and body, on some tracks I use as a test, they reveal a "tinny" sound in the mid-high frequencies (for example, on some female voices or on some wind instruments). I was going to replace and upgrade the speakers anyway. But which ones? My budget was between 3 and 4 thousand euros. I had a clear idea about the amplifier and I consider myself satisfied with the purchase. But I don't know about the speakers. I think the type of stand is the right one for my environment (and the apartment building) and also for the fact that it is impossible for me to listen to music at high volume. In combination with the Yamaha, various sources recommend "warm sounding" speakers, and on paper I seem to have identified a model that might be right for me: the Opera Callas. On the other hand, a longtime audiophile tells me that if I like the B&W sound, I can safely turn to the new 7 Series. What would you recommend? Maybe the WHARFEDALE Elysian that you have tried? Thanks again.
As usual I'm listening with earbuds, and normally I can't tell much of a difference with A/B comparisons. But I could with this one. I thought the Yamaha had a better sound, or should I say, for me the Yamaha sounded better. Great video.
So you compared the AS3200 to the E-280 based on price comparison. But where do you think the AS3200 would fit based on performance level within the Accuphase line?. E-380, E-480? Can it hang with the E-4000 even?.
Hi, I have the Elysian 4's and a big room with a big ceiling. I now have Advance Paris A12 driving the Elysian's and I'm looking for an upgrade in AMP. I know you like the Elysian 4 and what is your advice to go look for. I'm in the Netherlands so not so easy to go to your store, ;)
I've been a Yamaha fan since the A-1000 back in the mid 80's. It is interesting that the A-S3200 is rated at only 100W/ch @ 8 ohms at it's price point (I think that even the A-1000 was rated at 120W/ch @8). In looking at Yamaha's documentation, the A-S3200 definitely has an impressive build quality. I also found it interesting that the Spendors gave you more of a live sound over the Klipsch. That was somewhat surprising - I'm wondering if that would persist with different source material (e.g. rock, classical, etc.). Thanks for connecting to the Klpisch Cornwalls and comparing it against the Accuphase - Accuphase vs. Yamaha seems like a really interesting comparison. Just from what could be discerned from the RUclips audio, the Accuphase seemed to have a fuller, richer sound. Very impressive. It would be interesting to hear it with a different source like we used to use the old stereo shops of the 70'2 and 80's like Steely Dan's Asia or Gaucho.
@@ChicagoRob2 I think it probably does too - that has even been Yamaha's tag line for years and I believe it is the model that they build their audio equipment by. The Accuphase did sound interesting to me though as it appears to have a warmer sonic profile. Thank you.
Have a pair of Cornwall IVs coming in & a r-n2000a. Is there a worthwhile sound difference in the s3200? I can snatch a 3200 for $2500 more but would like to know your opinion
Thank you! Sorry for the late reply! I think the R-N2000 would sound great with the Cornwalls. You will get a mid level sound difference but a big looks difference. It’s without a doubt a better build but the cornwalls not needing much power could mean less of a difference than other speakers.
Just moved from Yamaha A-S1200 to Accuphase e280. Man, what a jump. This is a piece of jewellery. Better tighter bass, fuller sound, sweeter tone, more clarity, significantly better low volume performance, and better build. Yamaha is great and I thought I was done until I got e280. My fav is loudness compensation- makes it sing even at 45db.
Hey from Australia. Might be a silly question, but will the Yamaha 3200 power the Wharfdale Elysian 4’s or with speakers like them do you need to start getting power amps involved? I’m running a NAD 3050 with the Wharfdale Lintons, and just wondering the next step up? Understand Elysian 4s are a big step up, however does the amp step up need to be as big?
I’d like to see and hear a comparison with the Yamaha and Luxman integrated amps. My opinion is that there will be less of a difference in sound than the Accuphase and Yamaha. Great video guys!👍

I have a 2200 in my bedroom with some vintage JBL l96 and Gustard r26 dac. I also have vintage Marantz separates in my living room witth l100 classics and a class A Vincent with Forte's. Thing about Yamaha is it has balanced inputs to balanced outputs in my Dac and is definitly feels and looks the most high end of all my amps with very satisfying controls, clicks and relays. Its great for voices and the fantastic midrange and bass of the vintage JBLs. So clear that loudness isn't needed, very lively and sounds more powerful than 90 watts. The good phono stage makes it practical too. Tone contols work well but don"t change basic character maybe is a liitle analytical but probably the most neutral of all my amps. As mentioned, setting tone controls in middle takes them completely out of the circuite which is nice for purists but I'm a sound contouring kind of guy which is why I also like vintage. If Yamaha had mid control like my Marantz it would be the perfect modern vintage amp with best of both worlds!

The later Yamahas are quite neutral and very revealing. If the front end is right, the resulting sound will be right up there with the big boys.
How do you think those intergrated amps stack up with the rotel michi X5 S2? Roughly the same price point. Keep up the stellar work and rock on!!!!
Thanks Manny! Haven’t tried the Rotel to be able to compare :(
Just moved from Yamaha A-S1200 to Accuphase e280.
Which sound better Cambridge audio cxa81 or Yamaha as 1000
excellent observations
When you try the PR 200 from Akai or AM 2950...or AM 95...or AM m979???? Vintage staff not the new ones( Yamaha A 2000???? A 1000???)
Yamaha would be fine!
Look at the dovedales as well
My main amp is a Yamaha, Im listening right now on my custom speakers, it's so good.
I’d like to see and hear a comparison with the Yamaha and Luxman integrated amps. My opinion is that there will be less of a difference in sound than the Accuphase and Yamaha. Great video guys!👍
I think you are probably right with that assumption! Thanks Mike!
Search for Jay ultra high end in youtube. You will have a chance to listen to Luxman. To my ears Luxman is on different category.
recentelly i discovered that the cdm from B&W litle speakers were good with 70´s integrated amplifiers
I wish I could afford the 3200 i love Yamaha i have the A-S801 with a Rega Apollo cd player, Tech-Neeks Sl-3350 turntable ,Sony minidisk and Wharfdale Diamond 240 speakers SVS Sub. And I am very happy with it...Thanks for another awesome video. 👌
What a cool system! I gotta get a mini disk one of these days
You never mentioned the sound of the Luxman compared to the Yamaha. Also what is soundstage compared on all three.
the yamaha as better soundstage as the luxman is excelent but the phono for mc type doesn´t have a high level output but it´s conection is perfect and if with good speakers 90db´s up of sensivety it works perfect only the volume as to be raised
The Technics SU-R1000 and Yamaha S3200 ? Are they comparable?
Price wise yes but the Technics uses a unique amp section with automatic phase control. It's a genius product but seemingly untested online
Well done, I have the SA-801
Definitely gonna be a fun one
Glad you did this Yamaha review , but Back in the Day when I was Buying and Trading Recievers every 6 months ( Or Less) !!
Yamaha Lost out in the Competition Due to the "Brightness" Too much Fatigue on Long Listening sessions!!! I have not heard the Monster Yami but Almost all the reviews said the Same of Today's unit?
Anyway Pioneer was my Ultimate Favorite and Marantz along with the Sansui.
My Take on this one!
Another Awesome Krazy Lenny and Tom Video, (maybe Tom doesn't get enough mention, but he Deserves a Pat on the Back now and again!!!!
The Spendor 100 with the Advance A12 would be my Dream Season set up, but we will Have to Discuss the Package!!!@
Dave
Pretty easy to cut brightness down with the treble knob Yamaha has always included on their amps.
Compare the Yamaha 3200 to the Hint 6 Parasound please 😎
Oooh that’s 2 completely different sounds!
I am in between the Yamaha 1200ad the Marantz PM8006.
Love my Yamaha M2, PC2002’s
Would like to see expensive vs less expensive gear compared in technical detail.
I can’t get technical but we can surely compare price points!
I have always liked both the the Luxman and Accuphase fror their sound and quality. Not that the Yamaha sounds bad or their quality is sub par but I have always thought of them as a mass market brand. Whereas Luxman and Accuphase have always remained a high end audiophile brands. Don't want to sound snobby, but there is a certain sense of pride of ownership in those 2 brands that you just don't have with Yamaha.
Wrong . Luxman went Mass market in mid 80s
@@nasdkhan254 Which mass market retailer sells Luxman
@@wronghandshooter all brands are mass market ,but accuphase isn´t much seen as it´s cost was doble the yamaha and luxman is other quality brand above yamaha ,but all sound good ,one of my favorite control amps.is the yamaha C1 but some see it as a more complex control amp. due to have all functions one can imagine others are simpler makin`them superior in cleaner sound
I'm kind of in the camp of a nice used McIntosh Integrated.
TBH, the accuphase sounds a-ma-zing on those kefs! The Yamaha sounds thin on the kefs. But... The Yamaha is way more neutral. But my opinion is not biased because I'm a accuphase fanboy
The Yamaha is definitely more neutral. I think the Accuphase would match best with speakers with a lean balance. JMO.
@@ChicagoRob2 i own both brands but accuphase it´s better in sound ,but as neutral accuphase is always better ,one as the cost of half the accuphase with the same power
✅️... Yamaha.... 🍺👍🔊🔈.... !
Yeah Dennis! 🥃
Isn't this the guy from Just Audio, is he moonlighting?
2 channels now! Thanks for checking this one out
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard when it starts to get thiner and it does, mine was very strong than later you could see through ,now i do it once a week (shaving but let 2mm of beard to do not stay with the face red)
accuphase more bass...sounds more fuller n warmer.
The e280 sounds better to me based on the demo.
If Yamaha had mid control like my Marantz it would be the perfect modern vintage amp with best of both worlds!
loudness is needed when listening to music at low levels as both ends of the spectrum(low´s and high´s) have low volume output sound
I have a yamaha cr820 from the late seventies. To my ears, it has always sounded thin compared to my pioneer 850 and marantz 2238b. Just my . 02 worth.
@@steveallen489 i think you already notice trhe superiority of sound quality even in the lowest referencies from till 1979 componenmts mainly amplifiers or receivers ,my father colected hi-fi and my family was very musical so i ketp equipment not only from my father, grandfather, also cousin´s and uncle´s ,today i own a lot of very good equipment and no till today amplifiers or receivers have the quality of some top end systems i have like a Yamaha bought in 71 that i only have the pre-amplifier and a later power amplifier also a 71 turntable ,it all sounds amazing with some JBL speakers (studio monitors) and turntables that i have a lot of them some with original cartridges in use sound a lot better than very expensive turntables and cartridges but a huge diference as cd players today said to be very good , none is better than my 90´s or late 80´s cd player i bought or others ofered to me, today prices with no quality components are excessive and a huge diference for past components ,as a example some dac for sale around 500€ are ridiculous if one wants ,change the internal DAC that with the same or above quality with instalation instead of 700€ or a bit less if asked to install a new one on the cd player you´re using it costs from 30€ to at the most 70€ but spending 500€ while you got the same or better sound by spending 40€ it´s just ridiculous to not refer the building quality of this new cd players , i bought a Rega in 96 ,today it works but it looks like trash while others from the 80´s like a PD-7100 from pioneer that was heavy used it still looks new since 1986 and doble the hours of use compared to the Rega
Define ‘Bigger space’.
Maybe a 20x20 room or bigger. Does that help?
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard so did you actually test in different sizes of rooms or spaces to validate your answer? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to question you. I have a basement that I’m planning to convert as my music room and your answer might help in my decisions as far as buying or selecting my amps. However, your answer didn’t sound convincing, at least from how you sounded. It was not very concrete.
@@ThatGuyWithTheBeard i have 40 square meters listening room (c-1 and B-1 from yamaha)and 54 square meters living room for guests with a second system ,the sound flows perfect, no reverb(exclusiven by Pioneer both brands 70´s components mixed with more recent sources(Cd player ,DAT and Minidisc)both have also cassette decks and reel decks from the time of release but good as any best 90´s deck and never recorded anything with dolby as i never had hiss neither reels or cassettes, maybe because i do the regular maintenance as in the manuals comes explained ,including demagnatised heads
Did you guys realise your video is 31 min long but we had to forward it to the 22nd min before there was any music?
Love you guys but, really, we have ears. We prefer the music to do its own talking. LOL
IMO, the A3200 isn't a hifi kit. Next.
Great take!
Music on RUclips isn't hifi
7999 as in $7,990.00???
$79.99 on sale
Shop around you can find it for quite a bit less. I purchased a used A-S3200 for $5K. Sounds absolutely wonderful.
Horrible music test warning
Output meters are SO useless.
If I Must have them, I prefer that they indicate watts.
but never the real ones, check it
0:45 ALL I CAN SEE IS YOUR BEARD HAIR STICKING OUT ON YOUR RIGHT SIDE CHEEK
Was wondering when you were gonna join the conversation 🙄
i wish Yamaha made power amplifiers
they do
They have one and it’s huge!
they have several ,any type you can choose the one that fits your taste better ,i like one´s that look like a pyramid or the B-2
Yamaha is awful sounding period. Go to audiodrom. They rate Yamaha and NAD the absolute worst. Only the new Leak garage I think gets worse scores. Ya just keep buying that crap guy's.😂
It all sounds horrible.
Sounds horrible!
Yamaha is one of if not the best on the market
Sure is! Thanks for joining the comments!!
mr.Burton ,it´s good without a doubt but far from the best and my first yamaha was bought in 1972(component system ,all yamaha),sorry you ment ,market today, i prefer the technics but the yamaha is also very good
