- Ever wonder about that voice you hear while you're on the subway platform? No, the one that everybody hears. The helpful voice that tells you how far off your train is. Transportation communicator, Bernie Wagenblast, can be heard in subway stations throughout the city, providing updates on the one through six trains. He recorded it all, the same way he does most of his voice work for the MTA, from a desk in his New Jersey home office.

These days, Charlie Pellett is now the only known voice in the NYC Subway who still identifies as a male. Bernie Wagenblast still has an iconic voice in the NYC Subway but in terms of identity, Bernie now identifies as a trans woman.
Carolyn Hopkins is also a voice of the NYC subway in the stations.

These days, Charlie Pellett is the only known voice in the NYC subway who still identifies as a male. Bernie Wagenblast is now a trans woman but of course her voice has still been a very iconic sound for the NYC Subway, the EWR AirTrain, and the PATCO Speedline.

Bernie Wagenblast does the IRT station countdown clocks (as of January 2021 the 7 train stations use Bernie’s voice too). Bernie Wagenblast also voices the PATCO Speedline train, and the Newark Airport AirTrain.
