No2 iits/nits still don't make student want to pursue in core branches, the atmosphere right after someone joins core branch is that they will jump ship into csc... Due to this we produce below par software enggs from various core sectors doing what they shouldn't be doing..

Sir, you have raised very pertinent points. I am an Electrical Engineer (1988 batch) from B. E. College, Shibpur (second oldest engineering college of India), now known as IIEST. For my nephew who has appeared in JEE (Main), I was studying the courses offered by various colleges and exactly these serious questions came to my mind. It's high time the Govt. steps in to close down irrelevant branches like Mechatronics, Automobile Engg., Artificial Intelligence, Engg. Physics, Bio-Technology at the B. Tech. level. Some of these streams may merit being taught at M. Tech. level. Also, Govt. should regulate the demand vs. supply balance for branches with very limited job opportunities, like Metallurgy, Aeronautical Engg., Naval Architecture, Textile Technology, Ceramic Engg., Leather Technology, etc. Earlier, this country used to roll out very limited number of engineers every year from these branches and the demand vs. supply equilibrium was more or less maintained. But everything has gone haywire nowadays.
Exactlyyy, branches like textile engineering, bio-tech and automobiles must be closed ; seats are being wasted in those branches although i would argue that aeronautical and aerospace engineering must be there ; even though there is no homegrown aerospace industry that can support thousands of jobs ; the government agencies still recruit students from IIT’s directly to isro , drdo which are the lifeline of this country for that one reason it must exist as a branch wether it can cater to an non-existent industry or not
Bro this is a premium branch Its in high demand in abroad like aerospace But unfortunately, everybody treats it as a specialised mech branch, and thus cutoffs go less And uninterested students enter this branch just on the basis of college
