- This is a recreation of the Jazz Castle theme from the game Jazz Jackrabbit 2 released by Epic Games on May 7, 1998.
The original score was written by Alexander Brandon and was very influential on my early music ideas.
Being a huge fan of the Jazz Jackrabbit 2 game I often listened the incredible OST.
I now have the chance to give this favorite melody of mine a different spin in the Breaks genre.

This right here bring tears to my eyes. The first song of the Game that literally marked my childhood. If I were to choose a soundtrack for my childhood this would be it. Powering me through the tough moments of life, helping me remember there’s Good in bad, reminding me of the sweet careless past.

I was almost imagining this to be just "another remix", but I like how "crystal clear" you used the instruments to your advantage here, transforming the song into something reminiscent, respectful and reverent to the original, but also its own thing as a remix!
Love the little "half-techno, half-spacey" feel you've got here. Makes me imagine what a remake/remaster or successful threequel of the game could be like in a retro-futuristic 3D art style, like Jazz Jackrabbit 3 was planned to be, but sharper and filled with LOADS of nostalgia!

This made my day, I had been hoping you'd do this one! With Jazz Belmont, Colonius, Tubelectric, Jungle Fevah, Dark Groove there's still 5 more classic tracks (challenges) that come to mind, but any JJ2 piece you do is a blast. If they ever end up doing an official remake one day they should definitely get you on board!

These tunes have such a great sound to them. I never played the Jazz Jackrabbit games, so I don't even have nostalgia to fall back on, so kudos on these!
You should really look into remixing the soundtrack to Unreal Gold! From what I've read, its music is in a similar modular/tracker format like what Jazz Jackrabbit 2 also used. It would be killer to hear Unreal remixed like this!

Jazz Jackrabbit has a large cult following, I'm surprised no one tries to revive the series.
Yea it would be great to have a remake, but I guess Epic are too focused on Fortnite and their store 🙂🤷🏻♂️
@@AllanZax Personally, I would've liked to see a Fortnite character dressed in a costume as Jazz Jackrabbit (much like Cuddle Team Leader), it would make a great homage.
That would be a nice option yea, but I dont think Jazz is known at all by the majority of Fortine's target demographic and age group. :)

The vocal you're referring is called Tuvan singing and is practiced by people in Tuva and Mongolia. I just really liked how it matched the Gregorian monks which follows it and create this "Medieval Castle" atmosphere. :)

PLEASE DON'T TAKE IT AS OFFENSE I have listened to many Jazz2 music remixes and still think you are the BEST among all. And as a former FL user I realize how much time it is needed to create/remix any song. The point is, I still remember how great Carrotus or Labrat was. They have thaaat TOUCH UGHHH.

I understand that some tracks can be altered to such state that would both benefit from new drum and bass sections like Carrotus and Labrat (and I even changed the time signature on the Water Level from 3/4 to 4/4) , but others like this one have the bass playing a prominent role in the recognition of the tune itself so I could only replace the drums and expand the second part of the tune while exploring how it can be updated with new elements that compliment the original. :)
I get what you mean, but I try to be very careful not to change the track just for the sake of changing it as I've heard plenty of other Jazz2 "remixes" where they put some random solo or something out of nowhere that has nothing to do with the tune itself.
Of course that doesnt mean that some of my future Jazz2 remixes wont have that distinct touch as you put it. Just stay tuned! ;)

You bet I will :P btw this 'plucky' instrument present in the main part is very good. Somehow 'pluckies' fit to the castle's atmosphere extremely well (I think that's because of similarity to string instruments, wich were important part of medieval culture. At least in common imaginery of it)
I will stay tuned cause I have a feeling that you won't abandon this hobby until the release of one of the most difficult tracks to be remastered - tubeelectric. Damn it, I tried it by my own and never been satisfied with the results..
Yea the pluck also adds brightness to the sound and makes the main melody stick out without it feeling disconnected from the rest of the parts in the mix. :)
Tubelectric is deff on my list, but just as every other Jazz2 remix of mine I'll take all the time needed to insure its quality and not rush anything about it.
For example the most daunting remix that I've completed so far was the Lab Rat one. I've worked on it for more than half a year (and I currently have one that has been in work-in-progress stage for even longer), but in the end I think it turned out well.
It's all about getting the muse and inspiration flowing. :)
Hey Allan, have you ever considered remixing some of the original Deus Ex songs? They were written and produced by Alexander Brandon too and you can really hear the similarity with Jazz Jackrabbit songs. I'm sure you could do an amazing job on Deus Ex songs too!
One of the main driving forces behind these remixes is nostalgia and I haven't played the OG deus ex so there's no such connection for me there. At the moment I'm focused on Jazz2, but who knows what the future may hold. 🙂
@@AllanZax Damn! Well then you must go and play Deus Ex! Deus Ex vanilla + GMDX mod (a mod that polishes the graphics and mechanics but stays faithful). Then you can get some of that nostalgia and see why people keep reinstalling it! 😉
Hehe I've tried it a couple of times, but its not my cup of tea even though I really like "Human Revolution" and "Mankind Divided". Guess that's just a personal preference thing. :)
Are you planning to release all these in Spotify?
I'd really like to, but I dont have the rights to the originals in order to properly release them on streaming services (Epic holds them) so for now the Jazz2 remixes will live only here.

Yes, he doesn't own the rights as well (hence why he hasn't re-released the OST or officially remade it).
When uploading on streaming services the distributor (for example DistroKid) requires you to have the rights or a license in order to release it.
They have a way for obtaining rights for cover songs, but videogame soundtracks are excluded due to the fact that the original game music is considered a part of the game itself and can't be licensed separately unless the game studio transfers the rights or agrees to a licensing deal.
Given the fact that Orange Games no longer exist it must be some legal debacle on who actually has the rights.
So TL;DR - Its a complicated matter. :D

nice intro, a bit of gregorain chant veiled, then morphs into a japonesque string sound. I am a deep house addict though, this is too "techy" for me. No lyrics, I like contemplative, psychological, introspective, non drama lyrics, veiled and echoic.
