  • Reflective-Formative Higher-Order Construct using Disjoint Two-Stage Approach using SMART-PLS - Testing, Analysis, and Reporting.
The session discusses in detail the Concept of Reflective-Formative Higher-Order Construct using Disjoint Two-Stage Approach. Further, the video also guides on how to test, analyze, and report a Higher Order Reflective-Formative Model. Measurement Model (Reliability and Validity for Lower and Higher Order Constructs and Validity for Higher-Order Constructs) and Structural Model (Hypothesis Testing) are discussed.

About HTMT for the first order constructs - since we will use the first order constructs to form a second order construct, won't the first order constructs naturally have HTMT issues (especially in a reflective-formative second order con. because the dimensions form the second order construct)? Thank you Prof. for such a nice tutorial. I have a question. I am studying the mediation effect of ambidexterity between digitization and innovation performance. Ambidexterity is an interaction of explorative and exploitative learning. I couldn't find a method to produce an interaction term through SmartPLS and straight moderation couldn't be performed that would make it moderated mediation instead of simple mediation. Another method is to make it a higher-order construct.
Could you share a tutorial on how to produce an interaction term through SmartPLS? Or, measuring higher-order construct, would it be the same for a mediating variable? Your tutorial is based on IV.

I have some questions about this video. When you show the outer weights of variables in CSR constructs, the LC has a p-value higher than 0.062. Then, you suggest that we should look into the outer loadings. If the outer loading is higher than 0.5 and significant, then we have no validity issue for higher constructs.

Sir, what can I do if my loading and weight of two constructs are not significant. I need to test hypothesis. This is last step when we make higher order construct with latent score

    • @researchwithfawad

If none of the conditions are met, you should consider deleting the indicators that are causing this issue at the higher level as they are not measuring the construct.

Hi Sir! I have one item of Outer VIF Value of 5.585, whereas everyone else is below 5. Do i need to fix this before i continue with higher order construct validating? If so, how? Deleting the item? I thought factor loadings and VIF was the same thing? to measure item valdity, or have i missed something? :) Thank you

Hi. Loadings and VIF are totally different. You can keep it as it is not too high. But do check for the other statistics required for validating HOCs.

@@researchwithfawad thanks a lot! The problem I got when I do next part of structural model is that half of my weights and loadings have suddenly minus values. Half of the lower constructs to be specific . But I followed literature suggestions to put certain items in a subscale since they belong together. Is this is a problem and how could I fix it? My thesis is going to be sent in very soon. Thank you Sir
