Many RUclipsrs go driving around in bad neighborhoods especially in winter when there's no one around and then make a video about how bad conditions are and how brave they are. Tyler, you are the ONLY one that has the balls to actually get out of your car and meet the people living there, interview them and get their perspective. You have my admiration for talking to the locals and not wholesale demonize them, like most others do. Well done. I just subscribed to your channel.
There's literally tons of people that go out and do the same thing in the summer time. Nobody is gonna get shot up out there if they bring a camera and a million views. Because apparently this world revolves around RUclips and tik tok more than going out and helping OUR economy and getting a real job. Now everyone wants a hand out. This video isn't ANYTHING special.

As a kid who grew up in St. Louis (I'm just one year younger than the boys in the video) I'm glad Tyler could shed a light on my hometown and highlight too that not everyone there is just some bad person. I’m a huge Cards fan from the western US. I’d never been to St. Louis before, I literally came out to visit with no car, riding the metro and staying on the Illinois side in a little town over there. All I wanted to do was see a couple games at Busch, see the arch, see the brewery and get some ribs. My grandparents came from St. Louis and Grandpa worked for decades at the brewery. I almost got jumped at the East St. Louis bus station, switching off the train and waiting for the bus. I’d happened to strike up a conversation with an older gentleman there, and I stood up so he could take a call. Group of people who had been eyeing me for 10 minutes all start walking over, and start yelling at me. Then like a light bulb, they seen I was wearing my Cards gear and immediately asked if we’d gotten the win that day and pretty much left me alone after that. I’d never been so damned relieved in my life. I can now say that being a Cards fan may have saved my life 😂
My grandfather died on 2/21/23, and we had to fly to St. Louis to bury him in Springfield....most depressing trip of my entire life. I'd visited St. Louis back in the late 90s, it used to be such a nice city.
Springfield, IL? If so, you drove through the worst part of St Louis. The city looks better than the 90s. The Northside where you were driving through is one of the worst parts of America. Remind me of East Detroit, Jackson MS
In one sentence dude said the cops are too involved, too "nosey", and then that the cops won't come when someone gets shot, "they'll just let you die", well.... you can't have it both ways.
This is such a dense opinion, people say this because cops will harass you for miniscule things but when someone's bleeding out on the side of the road they're no where to be found . BOTH THINGS CAN BE TRUE
I live in St. Louis. When you call 911 about gunshots, if you are lucky enough to even get an answer, they will ask if someone is screaming. If nobody is, you won't see the police come by at all. I once had to call 911 because a woman was trying to break down my bedroom door to attack me after she pulled a knife on me. It took the police nearly an hour to arrive. But God forbid your tags are even slightly out of date. Then you'll see police. This city is messed up.

It really is a rough situation over there. My Uncle was a SLMPD officer for over 25 years, and my brother is a Buffalo Police Officer. A lot of people don’t realize is that its not the officers don’t care (at least not most of them) its that so many precincts don’t have the resources and the officers to to effectively combat this level of crime. In a lot of areas, gang members outnumber officers 3-1. It is heartbreaking seeing people who genuinely are trying to better their communities but don’t have the resources to do so.
if anyone really wanted to better their communities, it would start with education and mental health care. i’m so sorry your family members sound like “one of the good ones” but they work for a corrupt system. cops do not prevent crime, they show up after the crime is already done. cops cannot swear to protect their communities then turn a blind eye when shit gets tough.

St Louis overall isnt actually much more dangerous than most American cities, it definetly has those rough spots but the way the crime data is skewed is becuase of Missouris garbage ruling that annex St Louis county into the city of saint louis like most American cities. That concentrates the dangerous areas and skews statistics, funny enough many parts of it have been cleaned up lately and gentrifying, old neighorhoods that used to be dangerous are now sought after.
If Esco and his crew represent the future of what St. Louis looks like, I don’t see how lifting their message of head shots and gang violence is the right message to be pushing on kids.. great video besides that..
The sad truth is the life they live in the hood is the only thing they can gain popularity and rap about to escape their predicament as most popular rappers have faced before. Not justifying it but rather explaining the reasoning and it does sadly encourage a lot of younger teens to want to be hood which then ultimately adds to the cycle.
I feel bad for these kids. They don’t seem like bad guys, they’re just trying to survive with the hand they’re dealt. Hopefully they can become successful with their music and live a safer life.

Coming from a STL native that’s now living in Orange County, CA: Compared to other big cities, in STL there’s a very clear, major divide between the “county” areas and “city” areas. That divide is financial and racial, and for generations various politicians have promised to “revitalize the city” only to spend the tax money on another Cardinals/Blues-adjacent private square for food/drink businesses. Hardly anything is done to support the inner-city school systems, after school care or activities etc. to help people like the boys in this video. It’s extremely sad, but if we are all being honest doesn’t this sound familiar for almost EVERY American inner-city neighborhood/ghetto/slum? Politicians campaign on bringing reform - they get elected - they see things can’t be fixed with only money - they give up and make excuses. Very sad!!
Sounds like every Democratic run inner city. As long as they keep voting Democrat, there will be NO change. No good changes at least, I'm sure they will continue to decline😕
I love STL. Had some amazing years there. I remember one year when the Cardinals won the World Series and Washington street and downtown was a huge party. People were everywhere, on rafters of buildings, watching the game, spilling out of bars, in the streets, parking garages…It was amazing. People partying dancing fireworks music - everyone was happy and I felt perfectly safe. That was St Louis and its heart. I worked nights downtown in the early 2000s and felt relatively safe. Partied and cruised around regularly. We spent the better half of twenty years there. But I will say my mom got mugged and one of my friends got beat down and mugged both in a pretty safe-ish area. I’ve also seen high speed cop chases in residential neighborhoods and have had to use some serious street smarts to get out of sketchy situations x it’s def got a wild and scary side. The divide between white and black is stark and I couldn’t imagine it now with all the crazy new drugs. It’s still a great city though with a lot of 🩶 and good people. Cities are cities these days in America. I don’t feel particularly safe in any of them. The causes run deep but fentanyl and Covid definitely didn’t help matters 😞
I’m from Missouri(outer St.Louiser) and when I read the title of this vid I knew exactly where we were going. It really has been nothing but abandonment. However the few areas still populated by people are filled with some really neat culture and some “radiant” history. Also shout out to the school that literally got shut down due to radiation!

I think St. Louis is one of the most underrated places in the country. Before I moved there, I only heard negative things about the city. I Lived in the Central West End area for two years and loved it. Forrest Park is one of the most beautiful parks I've seen, and the city has plenty of awesome dining and drinking spots.
Agree. I went to college with a lot of friends from there. Very smart and talented people, yet almost all of them refused to return there and invest their talents in STL.
This isn’t true at all, history has proven it. Culture and, as a result, race, matter far more. Gangs and gang violence is apart of the black history, it’s rooted. You can’t help that with education.
From a europeans perspective it is wild to see these pieces. I mean sure, they are showing extremes, but the kind of poverty, violence, drug abuse etc. Tyler is letting us having a look at is just shocking.
It’s sadly fairly common in the U.S. Every state has at least one town sort of similar to this- extreme violence, poverty, lack of positive police presence, lack of education, lack of job opportunities.
we have entire regions like this for a while; only now are RUclipsrs showcasing it to show for an international audience. See the rust belt, Appalachia, and the Bayou@@boysgenius
You are seeing the high crime areas only and there are many. These are almost exclusively Democrat run cities, primarily black. Many have reduced their police force and have prosecutors who do not hold the criminals accountable, no consequences for their behavior. The politicians have convinced too many black people that they are victims and do nothing to empower them. We have many wonderful, safe areas in the US. Sadly we are devolving into different levels of society. Watch AK Nation News for more information.
It's funny that the US has become so partisan that it's almost impossible to have conversations about issues like these. I'm not American and once made a comment about how shocked I was to see all the homeless in LA when I was there. I was drowned with comments claiming there are just a few homeless people in LA and I must be maga people to come after the city like that 🙄 St. Louis it seems is high with black-on-black crime which is another taboo topic in the US.

Yet they insult their own black people when they dress and act "white". It isnt "acting white", its presenting yourself like a responsible and trustworthy individual that is worthy of keeping a career. Rapping isnt the only thing they can do, they just need to learn how to present themselves.

It’s good to see a glimpse into a life that most people don’t normally see. And I respect Tyler for not shying away from very dangerous situations. I think most of his videos are about trying to find the voices of people that few would approach. At that same time, he doesn’t interject many of his own opinions and allows the viewers to form their own opinion. I believe that’s true documentary. However, I do not think that rap music is the only way these young men can leave the “trenches”. I think that mindset only reinforces and motivates gang related behavior. It would be different if rap could be a useful outlet for them to express their pains, but for the most part it just sounds like their praising guns, money, gangs, and sex. I’ve lived in shady places, non like St. Louis, but I focused on my education and staying away from troubled kids. I know some might argue they don’t have an equal chance at a better life than some are born into. And I agree to that. But, no matter what you’re given in life, fair or unfair, you gotta make the choice of who you want to be. And how you get there. And I pray these young men find a better “how”. They are more then just a stereotype or a gang related statistic. Start a small business, do a trade, do good respectable grunt work and grind until you got the money to leave. Even if it means you’re leaving alone.

The people in these ghettos often seem to think that the only thing they can do to make money is by making rap music. It’s a recurring theme around the country. Also the lack complete of gun safety will never stop making me flinch.
@@private_ventures2592 That's like saying there will be less crime if you make murder, robbery, and drugs legal. But back to guns, they all had guns, and many of them said they've been shot at. So how did guns make them safer?
@@Jornandreja that's not the same thing at all. Murder is a crime against another. Robbery is, too. Drugs are debatable but have far reaching consequences. But gun ownership doesn't inherently victimize anyone like murder or robbery. That's a terrible straw man. Do you know why predators tend to not be attacked by other animals? Because they're dangerous. Cats have claws. Bees have stings. Those attributes protect them from predators. A pufferfish has spines because other fish will harm it if given the chance. It's the same thing out in the world. You never know what's in someone's pocket. But we have laws over them for a reason. Most guns used in crimes are illegal guns. Most legal guns will never even be aimed at a human being. All you're doing is saying "bring us back to the law of the jungle, where a big man can hurt weaker people with impunity", because you don't actually care about safety, you're so terrified of guns that you'll make everyone vulnerable out of panic. Do you know, generally what, ultimately, stops a violent criminal? Violence. Because violent criminals continue to be violent at a very high frequency until they are terminally stopped.

I’ve lived in St. Louis for 20 years. All I have to say is, yes its dangerous but when you are there, it doesn’t seem any worse than any major, dense city. Most areas are safe, but some areas carry the weight of being dangerous. We definitely get a bad rep which sucks and contributes to a lot of people moving away and less tourism. But we have a great city with great people and I think we are better than the average midwest city. This city, including the “bad” areas, have so much potential, our city has a lot of spirit and talent. It’s just on a bad trajectory right now All in all it has to be a joint effort between everyone here to bring the city back to what it was. Also don’t be scared to come here
one reason why it’s crime rate is so high is because the actual city borders are relatively small, the border doesn’t contain many suburbs as compared to a lot of other cities, st. louis does have lots of crime but it’s not as severe as the statistics would make u think.
I lived in St Louis until about 2018 and it remains one of my favorite cities to walk or bicycle in. It's got free museums everywhere, Forrest Park, zoo, art museum, and BLOCK PARTIES almost every day of the week, great dance scene, darned good public transportation, so easy to meet people if you're single, just a great great city. I've bicycled everywhere including N St Louis and never once had any problems. And downtown St Louis is now so much better than it used to be (I visit several times a year). St Louis is unique among most US cities that I've been to in the sense that its urban downtown spans hundreds of blocks in all directions. It's much closer in size and build to, say, Berlin than to Atlanta. I do think if you're primarily a suburbanite or rural person watching St Louis on TV then you think St Louis is just full of violent black people. And I used to think that way until I moved there. But St Louis will throw a block party whereby the streets are closed and dogs are allowed to roam free. And weird and fun stuff like that.
Great work as always Tyler!! These guys know guns aren't intimidating in music videos, it's the lyrics that should hit people, like Necro, when he released the song "Dead body disposal", every rapper had shivers running down their spines. Dead body disposal is a song that simply tells you how to properly dispose of a body, now that sends a message. Necro did it right.

I went to Saint Louis this year and it instantly became one of my favorite cities. So many things to do (the Arch, City Museum, fun restaurants, great architecture …). Even the neighborhood I stayed in (Benton Park), Downtown, Midtown and other parts of the city felt very safe/not any more dangerous than average. However, I know I am privileged and not living there, and it’s sad to see that the city of Saint Louis has let certain areas become very violent and made life unbearable to various degrees for its residents. I thought it was a beautiful city when I went and I’d love to go back. Rooting for y’all ❤
As a German I feel like when I grew up I always just pictured the US like the American dream taught and school and high school movies - basically like paradise. I don’t know if it’s because of social media or part of getting older and seeing more of the whole picture but the older I get the more like a completely fucked up country the US feels to me. Sad to see stuff like that man - hope things will improve for you guys!
What you have to understand is that the US is HUGE. Like astronomically bigger than Germany. We have everything in the US. What you're seeing in this video is just one small area. We have lots of these small areas but we also have TONS of places in the US that are amazing. She refused to leave the airport unless I was in the front with her, because we were gonna drive through Detroit and she didn’t want anyone targeting us because she looked alone. Scary place.

For the past 10yrs or so, I've been partially watching a particilar vlogger who lives in St Louis. I had no idea St Louis was a dangerous place, especially since this vlogger has almost always made her videos at home, but the other day, she made a video while sitting in her car in a Target car park. While she was reviewing all the products that she bought, she kept looking out the window and over her shoulder, then she said under her breath "gotta watch out for those car jackers and robbers" 😅.
It's not that dangerous (I have lived in STL my whole life), it's not even in the top 10 most dangerous cities anymore. That was like a decade ago, Memphis, Anchorage, and Albuquerque are the top 3 now.
Might as well be melting down plastic and drinking it. Capri Sun is full of micro plastics as it heats during storage and the film inside leaches into the drink. All these guys are full of estrogen.
Wouldn’t it be super epic if this kind of community had a bunch of retired men come and just be mentors to these kids? I know they would feel so unsafe but if Tyler can go out there man, anyone can. I think there would be a lot of respect eventually for the “elders” who really poured into them and affirmed their potential. These poor kids have no identity and lack of self-esteem. They can barely say a sentence properly. Fatherhood is so important, a healthy family structure. These young men need father figures in their lives
"There exists a great army of occupationally orphaned children. They are attending government-controlled day-care centers. And latchkey kids who are running wild in the streets. And the lop-sided, emotionally wounded children of single welfare mothers, born only for the sake of more money in the monthly check. Open your eyes and look at them, for they are the future. In them I see the sure and certain destruction of this once-proud nation. In their vacant eyes I see the death of Freedom. They carry with them a great emptiness - and someone will surely pay a great price for their suffering." Behold a Pale Horse
They could start out by not having a toxic masculinity culture where they just dump an uncountable number of kids on the women while having no job themselves.
My band once had a tour stop in st Louis. This was in 2009. We heard all the stories. Turns out the nicest people live in st Louis. It was kinda insane. We were all 18-20 year old kids playing in a pop-punk band. We wanted to go get beers since its made there. But being underage, we thought would, make it hard. We got warned by multiple people to not go into certain parts after dark. We wander around downtown for a bit trying to figure out who to pull a hey mister on when we round a corner and literally run into 4 college students. Our lead ainger asks them if they will buy us beer. They look hesitant and then say yes, at this moment a lady (probably in her 60s) was walking her dog past us. She thrn goes "excuse me what are you trying to do?" And we all get nervous. She then says "because if you are trying to drink underage no one here cares and you can just walk into any bar." We laugh about it and then walk to the closest gas station to get a case of beer. One of the college students buys it then says "where are guys drinking this?" We hadn't thought it through. He invited us back to his studio apartment where we stayed till 3am with him 1 other guy and 2 girls it was one of their birthdays as well. We walked back to our hotel accidentally going through the park multiple people said to not enter. Our show ended up getting rained out since it was a festival, a random guy that ran a BBQ place asked us if we wanted to come play a show at his place since it was indoors but we had to move on to the next show, but we had a blast in the stl. Sorry for the random ranty story but its a memory I cherish. I just wanted to say something positive about saint louis. It might be dangerous in the bad areas but that doesn't mean the people are bad. Everyone I met was amazing, and I am from oklahoma where people are generally very nice, its hard to out-do us.
@ordinaryopinion4081 Nice! I havent thought of that band in year. But yeah STL is really cool and want to come back at some point. And yeah the world would be better if we could get rid of crime everywhere.
AI will soon help us with crime. There will be a “future crime” division. They should just put walls around these shitty parts of cities in the first place. Call them “the gates of hell”. You can come out, but you gotta be ready to act responsibly. If not, back into the gates you go!

1. Believe that God sent His Son

2. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for your sins and Turn away from your sins. If you sin again after asking forgiveness of that sin, ask forgiveness again and try not to do it ever again. Jesus will forgive you!
3. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and your life and for Him to be your Lord and Savior forever.

Many RUclipsrs go driving around in bad neighborhoods especially in winter when there's no one around and then make a video about how bad conditions are and how brave they are. I live in St. Louis. When you call 911 about gunshots, if you are lucky enough to even get an answer, they will ask if someone is screaming. If nobody is, you won't see the police come by at all. St Louis overall isnt actually much more dangerous than most American cities, it definetly has those rough spots but the way the crime data is skewed is becuase of Missouris garbage ruling that annex St Louis county into the city of saint louis like most American cities. Very sad!!

Sadly we are devolving into different levels of society. Watch AK Nation News for more information.
No different to some European cities that have imported certain people. Just less guns.

Man, these kids dont realize that the way they act, the way they dress, sure its a form of expression but they also have to understand that it comes with certain consequences such as people seeing them as thugs and employers taking that into account. Yet they insult their own black people when they dress and act "white".

That's why we push for legal gun ownership. The more legal carriers there are, the fewer illegal carriers you'll have
@@private_ventures2592 That's like saying there will be less crime if you make murder, robbery, and drugs legal.
Violence. Because violent criminals continue to be violent at a very high frequency until they are terminally stopped.

you should go do a segment with some of the family members of the thousands of innocent people that get killed by gang members every year.

Whoever is reading this, I wanted to say I hope you have a great day and that God loves you so much that He sent His son, Jesus, to die on a cross for your sins and He rose again from the dead three days later. God Bless!
And also, He doesn't want you to go to Hell, but He wants you to go to Heaven with Him but you have to be Saved. How do I get Saved you might ask? Here are the steps below on how to get Saved!
1. Believe that God sent His Son
(Jesus) to die on a cross for your sins and that He rose again from the dead 3 days later.
4. Build a Personal Relationship with Jesus by Praying and Reading the Bible daily and Live for Him Forever.
I'm Praying for you and you are loved

I’ve lived in St. Louis for 20 years. All I have to say is, yes its dangerous but when you are there, it doesn’t seem any worse than any major, dense city. Most areas are safe, but some areas carry the weight of being dangerous.
