      @@AugmentGuitars Cool. I've been meaning to make something proper for spraying my guitars (I make them from scratch) but never got round to it. Great video! I have been thinking of doing something similar, but I am wondering if I would need to do something more (like an enclosed space) to better control things like dust and other contaminants. Have you run into this problem with your setup?

    • @AugmentGuitars
      @AugmentGuitars  Год назад

      Thanks Michael! An enclosed and filtered space would be ideal, but unfortunately for me I didn't have the space. 🙁 What I did is bought a small hanging workshop air filtration system that I run for a few hours before I spray. Seems to help clean the air a bit. I also make sure to mop my basement floors regularly so I'm not kicking dust up when I am spraying. So far it seems to work great but I do get some dust specs from time to time. Overall happy with it! Also I am going to be making a full spray booth build video here soon. Just need to finish the drawers and get some clips of me spraying some guitars. 😊

    Nice setup ! If you ever make another jig holder ,I suggest
    you do it so the center of the guitar is center with the pivot , works a lot better .

    • @AugmentGuitars
      @AugmentGuitars  Год назад

      Thanks Lou! Unfortunately I was limited by the booth dimensions… I wanted to make the holder bigger but I also wanted it to be able to spin freely without hitting the filters. The only compensations I can really do is to make the 3/4” pipe that attaches to the guitar a bit shorter. Thanks for the suggestion!

    Super cool! Newbie question, why does the fan need to be explosion proof?

    • @AugmentGuitars
      @AugmentGuitars  Год назад

      Hey Ian! Thanks for watching. The fan needs to be explosion proof as a lot of finishes are highly flammable. Explosion proof fans are sealed so there is no chance of spark to ignite the finish particles in the air. If you are only spraying non-flammable water based finishes, you can most likely get away with using a regular fan. Hope that helps!

    I haven’t watched all of your posts on this yet. What exhaust filtration do you use the be safe for your neighbors when spraying nitrocellulose? Thx.. Are the exhaust vapors non toxic by the time they get through both filters?

    • @AugmentGuitars
      @AugmentGuitars  10 месяцев назад

      Hi Michael! I used a MERV 13 HVAC filter as the final filter before it exhausts outside of my basement. MERV 13 filters a lot of the small particles out (google MERV 13 to see the ratings) so only a small amount gets released into the air. If you are worried about exhausting out where people will be present, you can always get a stronger filter. HEPA filters up to 99%+ of particles so that could be an option for you. Also here is a link to my spray booth build series which contains more info: ruclips.net/video/QbUs2tUbyeo/видео.html

    Do you know if it work with hlvp gun and oil base paint ?
    How many guitars you can paint before starting to see that the box container is no holding no more ?

    • @AugmentGuitars
      @AugmentGuitars  6 месяцев назад

      The setup should work! It might be a bit stinky (if it’s in your basement) but you can close the doors for a bit so it dissipates. I’ve done it a few times for some high VOC poly finishes.
      I’ve sprayed around 5 projects so far and I need to change to paper lol… It’s pretty easy with the double stick tape. As far as the internal filter goes, I’m actually not too sure. I’ll check it periodically and if I notice that the fan is struggling/not exhausting as much, i will change it. Honestly the first filter collects most of the spray.
