Thanks for showing! You rock! 💪
Happy to help!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Love the black nut. Peace.
I don't like non laquered finishes too much, but this one looks very very cool with that color. Great job!
Thank you! Love how the finish turned out. 🤘🏻
Great tutorial...thanks
Thanks for watching! 🤘🏻
best tutorial i've found on this, straight to the point! great job brotha
Happy to help! 👌🏻
The humbucker pickup is not parallel to the guitar. Needs better mounting.
Can you put these in a slanted rgms8? scouring the internet for resources and it seems like the agile and legator guitars with them just have the regular fishmans, not special slanted versions.
Hey Sammy! So looking at the RGMS8, it looks like the coils and the pickup cavity route itself is for slanted coils, so I don’t think they would work without modifications. 😞 you’d have to route them out for soapbars, and even then, they might not line up completely. I know Bare Knuckle or Elysian pickups can make custom slanted sets that might work for you. Check them out!
Hey, Jackson JS32-8 or Ibanez RG8?
Honestly, both are about the same. If you want to change the stock pickups on them, the Jackson has more flexibility as they aren’t soap bars. The RG8 has soap bars so your a limited to pickups that offer that form factor. Hope that helps!
If u tape the sides first then tape the frets when u pull off the sides the top will come off easily.
Great tip!
Okay that’s it, I’m buying this for my first 8 string lol
Wonderful guitar
Thank you! 😊
Im hearing that this guitar really isnt worth the purchase even at the low price, what do you think? And please be honest, i cant afford to waste my money
So the reason I upgraded this guitar a lot is I bought it as a B-stock, so there were plenty of issues I was aware of first. I think I paid less than $300 for it? All completely fixable though! I can't say how the new ones from the factory are, so if you want to take a chance I'd go through Sweetwater or another big retailer that can help resolve any issues with ease. Overall, I would buy this guitar again as it is a pretty good value when it comes to extended scale 8 strings. You can find them used for good prices. The main drawback to this guitar is the stock pickups. They are pretty muddy and not the best lol....
What a great series! I love this finishing technique and your tips. I have a question and I'd love to hear your take. I have a roasted maple neck which is several tones lighter than the roasted swamp ash body of the guitar. I'd like to get them closer in tone and I'll probably follow your steps to darken the neck. Contrary to your build, the fretboard is roasted maple and not rosewood. Any suggestions on treatment? I'd like to make sure staining and oil is also a good method or if fretboard staining and finishing should be done differently. Keep up the amazing work! Your videos are super detailed and help us (rookies) lots! Best regards from Amsterdam, NL!
Thank you! 😊 Before you stain the neck, wet the body and neck both down with Naphtha to see how they will look with oil on them (gets it pretty close). You may find that they both darken to a similar tone! When finishing the neck and fretboard, you'd do the same thing I did in the video except ALSO stain and finish the fretboard. Be sure to focus on sanding in between the frets as you don't want scratches showing after staining. It can be a pain to sand in between the frets lol.... Hope that helps! 😊
This helps a lot! Thanks again for your help and tips. Looking forward to learning more through your channel and projects! Have a great day!
@@brubecktime thanks for watching! Happy to help 😊
Man I’ve always wanted to swap out my Ibanez 7 string EMGs to these!!!! I just don’t have the balls to solder wires hahaha
You can do it! If you keep the wiring simple, it’s not too bad. 🤘🏻
Great video man! Just a quick question. What pickup height is used for active pickups such as fishmans?
Thank you! It can be personal preference, but what I like to do is start about 1/4” away from the strings on both sides. I then raise them up and play to get the desired volume I like. I repeat the same process for the neck pickup. Hope that helps!
@@AugmentGuitars I'll try that then! Thanks for the response! I was asking this because I feel like my neck pickup has more volume and sounds more like “in front” in comparison with the bridge pickup. I’m using fishmans moderns so maybe I have to re-check the height.
Yeah the neck pickup is usually a bit louder if both pickups are at the same height. I usually have my neck pickups lower and try to match the volume of the bridge. You’re on the right track!
This is my next project. Very well presented thank you.
If you need any help feel free to reach out! 🤘🏻
How much this guitar?
How to order this guitar?
hello wonderful work. what is the color of body tint? Sincerely

Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it. 😊
damn i really wanted to see how the ducting for the fan worked - I just got a 10" vevor and am trying to figure out how to make custom ducts
Send me an email! I can send you some photos and give you some guidance if need be. 😊
The fretwork is stunning
Thank you! 😊
I don't understand the polishing of frets other than temporary visuals . the strings will scrape it up . anything over 1200 is overkill . great job tho . looks fantastic
These are stainless steel frets so they don’t scratch as easy as nickel silver. I find that buffing them up that high, the sheen lasts for a long while. Thanks for watching! 😊
it turned out look close to SpinTwist Paint Rig
Just checked that out, pretty similar! Glad this jig is a better cost alternative to that one. Thanks for watching. 🤘🏻
Welcome back.
Glad to be back! It’s been a while. 😅
Part two is live! Check it out here: ruclips.net/video/c3dl6NnEgWs/видео.html
what happened to Part 2? thanks!
Time got away from me lol! I am actually editing the second part of the build now. It focuses around the guitar work piece holder I built. Sorry for the delay!
No worries. Glad you're still at it. Looking forward to more content
Sounds good, would you recommend these pickups? I got the same rg8 and I’m not sure if I should go for the modern set or the tosin abasi
Thanks a bunch! I like them, but I think I like the classic set more than the modern set. The modern set is a bit too compressed and I don't think it shines in the clean department. If they made the classic set in the soap-bar style covers, I would have went with those. I feel like they are a bit more rounded. Hope that helps! :)
@@AugmentGuitars thanks, that’s definitely helpful!
Ernie Ball® Slinky cobalt is better than Stringjoy & Regular Slinky. You just made a mistake. ☹︎
Its probably not the intention but i got asmr triggers from this! Overall very clean work! Good job!
Thank you! 😊
beautiful 😍
Thank you!!
Is a brass nut worth it on extended range guitars
I’d say upgrading from the stock plastic one is worth while! Even if it’s not brass, upgrading to a bone or TUSQ nut helps tuning stability. They are also more durable.
If you were the son of the greatest craftsman of Martin Acoustic guitars in the world. Would that make you Martin Luthier King Jr. 🧐
😂
Which fishman set is this? They sound great!
This is the modern set! 🤘🏻
Why did you heat it with a lighter?
It is electrical shrink tubing. It shrinks when you apply heat to it. I like to do it on most connections for a nice clean look. 🤘🏻
@@AugmentGuitars But, You’re not in Pakistan, Afghanistan, or something…
Sounds dope
Thank you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nice work! And nice song choice!!
Thank you! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Nah bro i know you didn’t just edit out the whole battery cavity process
There’s only so much time in these Shorts videos! 🤣
This is the asmr i needed
Was that Gotoh® BB-04?
Yep! Love those battery boxes.
Really appreciate your work you put some quality time and love into the project and top quality components nice work dude rock on 🤙

I need this … Do you know if it work with hlvp gun and oil base paint ? How many guitars you can paint before starting to see that the box container is no holding no more ?
The setup should work! It might be a bit stinky (if it’s in your basement) but you can close the doors for a bit so it dissipates. I’ve done it a few times for some high VOC poly finishes. I’ve sprayed around 5 projects so far and I need to change to paper lol… It’s pretty easy with the double stick tape. As far as the internal filter goes, I’m actually not too sure. I’ll check it periodically and if I notice that the fan is struggling/not exhausting as much, i will change it. Honestly the first filter collects most of the spray.
@@AugmentGuitars i did my paintingbooth but i made it with wood frame it was less expensive but works very good ...do you ahve an email so i can send you some pictures of my project
Awesome! Would love to see it. My email is augmentguitars@gmail.com

I am not big on the black guitars....I will have to reconsider after this one
Don’t be racist
Reminds me of Behemoth
Very nice
Thank you!
How much is the drill?
The drill is just a cheap Ryobi drill from Home Depot! Works great for these small projects.
@@AugmentGuitars What size is the drill? 0.1 m or which one ? I mean
Lovely
Thanks John! 😊
Replace Pure tone jack on this Ibanez 8-string Please.
Good idea! If this barrel jack ever fails I’ll swap it out for one.
